Bengals vs. Ravens Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Lamar Jackson

We expect Jackson to return from an ankle injury that has sidelined him for the past 10 quarters.

We will monitor his status and adjust as needed throughout the week.

These teams have played some absolute shootouts in this rivalry, so we don't want to miss out on him here.

If Jackson is ready to play, he moves back into the front-end QB1 field.

Jackson has been hyper-efficient this season, completing 70.8% of his passes (2nd) for a league-high 10.1 yards per pass attempt, a league-high 14.2 yards per completion, and a 6.3% touchdown rate (7th).

Jackson averages 0.53 passing points per dropback, second only to Brock Purdy (0.58).

With Zay Flowers on the field, Jackson is at 0.63 passing points per dropback.

Jackson is averaging 22.3 fantasy points per game in 13 career starts in this rivalry.

He struggled in both matchups last year, though he was returning from injury late in the season.

In those games, he was QB27 (6.5 points) and QB22 (14.6 points).

If you believe this is a similar case where he may not be himself, that is the angle for failure here.

The upside is high, however.

In 2024, these teams played 41-38 and 35-34 games.

Jackson scored over 30 points in both.

Cincinnati has built its defense around getting to the quarterback.

They are eighth in pressure rate (39.2%).

When they get pressure, the Bengals have allowed 4.0 yards per pass attempt (4th) and 10.3 yards per completion (3rd).

Without pressure, the Bengals allow 8.7 yards per pass attempt (30th) and 12.0 yards per completion (28th).

When Jackson works from a clean pocket, he completes 78.8% of his passes (4th) for a league-high 11.5 yards per pass attempt.

Even when pressured, Jackson has strong splits relative to his peers, completing 53.3% of his passes (4th) for 7.0 Y/A (9th).

Cincinnati has struggled to defend the pass lately.

They allowed 8.6 yards per pass attempt and 3 touchdowns to Aaron Rodgers in Week 3.

Trevor Lawrence averaged 9.9 yards per pass attempt against them in Week 4.

They did limit Malik Willis in Week 5, but they did allow Willis to run for 74 yards and a touchdown.

That is where Jackson's ankle is a wild card.

Last year, when he was injured, he didn't run late in the year.

We need him moving here.

The Bengals not only allowed that production to Willis on the ground, but Baker Mayfield (30 yards and a touchdown), C.J. Stroud (29 yards), and even Rodgers (10 yards) all added double-digit rushing yards against them.

Joe Burrow

Burrow comes out of the bye week with three straight QB1 scoring weeks with 20-plus fantasy points.

He has completed over 70% of his passes in each.

This is another spot to be bullish on Burrow's upside as a high-end QB1.

That is despite respecting the matchup.

The Ravens have not allowed multiple touchdown passes in any game this season.

They allow 6.9 yards per pass attempt (15th) and a 2.5% touchdown rate (3rd).

The resume is light, however.

Baltimore has faced Daniel Jones, Tyler Shough, Deshaun Watson, and Michael Penix.

They also have faced Dak Prescott, holding him to 6.9 yards per pass attempt and 1 touchdown (18.9 fantasy points).

That Baltimore-Dallas game was also 34-31, so we would gladly take that score here and see what Burrow points come out in that game environment.

Burrow has faced Jesse Minter only once in his career, in 2024, when Minter was with the Chargers.

In that game, Burrow scored 29.0 fantasy points, throwing for 356 yards and 3 touchdowns.
