Browns vs. Titans Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Deshaun Watson

After an early-season surge with weeks as the QB12 (19.7 points) and QB14 (20.3 points), Watson has notched scoring weeks as the QB21 (12.9 points), QB22 (12.2 points), and QB24 (9.5 points) over the past three games.

Watson is a matchup-based QB2 here.

The Titans do offer some added appeal compared to previous spots against the Steelers, Jets, and Ravens.

Tennessee is allowing a 69.2% completion rate (31st) and 7.5 yards per pass attempt (22nd),

What has kept them from being flooded is that they've allowed only a 3.2% touchdown rate (7th).

They face only 31.3 pass attempts per game (9th fewest), but teams have started throwing more because the Titans are playing the run well.

After the first three opponents to face Tennessee threw the ball well below expectations, the past three have thrown a little bit more than expected.

That said, they are still throwing at a 60.9% rate on an expected 58.6% over that span.

We will not lean into it being the outcome here (and Watson did not play), but these teams played a 60-point game last season with a 34-point total, so maybe we could run back a good time here.

Cam Ward

Sunday was another rough outing for Ward.

He completed 11 of 22 passes (50%) for only 102 yards (4.6 Y/A) with a touchdown and an interception.

Ward has now thrown for 5.0 yards per attempt or less in four of six games.

Even with byes and injuries, Ward is a back-end option in 2QB formats.

The Cleveland defense has been sturdy since the season opener, allowing a 57.4% completion rate (4th), 6.1 yards per pass attempt (6th), and a 3.8% touchdown rate (15th) over the past five weeks.

The Browns are playing man coverage at a league-high 45.2% rate over that span.

Ward is averaging 4.5 yards per pass attempt this season versus man coverage (29th).

Even though the teams played a fun game last year, Ward still threw for only 117 yards in the matchup, completing 50% of his passes.
