Trust = spike production for that player

Quarterback

Justin Herbert (TRUST): Herbert did not have to do much lifting on Sunday night, but the Chargers kept things tight to the vest with a quick passing game.

With Joe Alt out against the Pittsburgh pass rush, Herbert averaged 4.7 air yards per attempt, his second-lowest rate of the season.

His time to throw was 2.25 seconds from the snap on average, his fastest delivery this season.

That has been a trend without Alt this season.

Herbert’s four games averaging 6.5 air yards or fewer per attempt have all come in games Alt has missed or left early.

He is now averaging 6.6 yards per pass attempt and 6.5 air yards per attempt on 233 dropbacks with Alt off the field, compared to 8.3 Y/A and 9.1 air yards per attempt on 184 dropbacks with Alt on the field.

In the three games that Alt has missed entirely, Herbert has been the QB23 (14.6 points), QB14 (18.8 points), and QB17 (14.7 points).

While that is not overly encouraging for Herbert’s fantasy output, this is still a spot where I would give him runway as a QB1 with upside.

The Jacksonville defense is reeling.

They are last in the NFL in sack rate over their past five games (2.6%) and have resorted to blitz-happy tactics to generate pressure.

The Jaguars have a 35.8% blitz rate over that span (third) but are only 16th in pressure rate on those blitzes (44.4%).

Over that span, they are allowing 7.4 yards per pass attempt (19th) with a 7.6% touchdown rate (30th).

They have allowed a QB1 scorer in all five of those games.

The first three were Patrick Mahomes (26.7 points), Sam Darnold (20 points), and Matthew Stafford (27.4 points).

No big deal. Those have been excellent quarterbacks this season.

But out of their bye, the Jaguars have allowed Geno Smith (26.3 points) and Davis Mills (27.7 points) to cook them.

They are also 26th in rushing points allowed per game to quarterbacks (3.8).

Herbert has already set a new career-high in rushing yardage (324 yards), averaging 32.4 yards per game on the ground.

To top it off, the Jaguars have been a heavy pass-funnel team because they are good against the run.

They face 37.9 passes per game (third most) and the second-highest pass rate in the league.

Trevor Lawrence: We had a good idea that Lawrence would struggle in Houston last week, and that played out accordingly.

Lawrence completed 13 of 23 passes (56.5%) for 158 yards (6.9 Y/A) with a touchdown and an interception.

He ended the week as the QB21 (9.8 points).

Lawrence has three top-12 scoring weeks this season.

Two of those came with multiple rushing touchdowns.

Only 29.1% of Lawrence’s pass attempts have resulted in a first down or touchdown, 29th in the league.

In the red zone, Lawrence is the league’s lowest-rated passer (72.2), completing 48.6% of his passes (31st) with an 18.9% touchdown rate (30th).

This is another tough matchup to chase Lawrence as more than a QB2 for fantasy.

The Chargers have allowed a 59.7% completion rate (4th) for 6.3 Y/A (third) and 2.9% touchdown rate (3rd).

They are allowing the fewest passing points per attempt in the league (0.316).

As an added out for Lawrence, the Chargers are allowing 3.4 rushing points per game (22nd).
