Colts vs. Jaguars Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Trevor Lawrence

Lawrence comes out of the bye completing 65.2% of his passes (QB14) for 8.0 yards per pass attempt (QB5), 12.3 yards per completion (QB4), and a league-high 7.6% touchdown rate.

He leads all quarterbacks in passing points per dropback (0.53).

The only thing slowing Lawrence down is Jacksonville's success, since he is the QB20 in dropbacks per game (33.5).

He is the QB23 in fourth-quarter scoring (3.5 points per game) and last in fourth-quarter dropbacks per game (6.0).

The Jaguars could get into cruise control here, but if they do, Lawrence will surely be part of any lead-building as a QB1.

The Colts rank 21st in passing points allowed per game (14.8), 21st in yards per pass attempt (7.5), 30th in yards per completion (12.3), and 23rd in touchdown rate (5.2%).

Lawrence has thrived this season with play-action passing.

On play-action passes, Lawrence is second in the league in rating (121.6), completing 67.3% of his passes (33 of 49) for 8.7 Y/A (5th) with an 8.2% touchdown rate (4th).

The Colts have allowed 8.7 yards per pass attempt (27th) and a 9.2% touchdown rate (31st) on play-action passes.

Daniel Jones

Jones is completing 59.6% of his passes (27th) for 5.8 yards per pass attempt (30th), 9.8 yards per completion (29th), a league-low 1.7% touchdown rate, and a 2.9% touchdown rate (28th).

His 0.19 passing points per dropback is ahead of only Jalon Daniels (0.18) for qualifying passers.

It is hard to trust Jones as more than a back-end QB2.

He has already had good matchups against Washington (7.9 points) and Tennessee (13.8 points) with no fantasy production to lean on.

If you have to go back to Jones in 2QB formats, he gets another matchup that has some upside on paper.

Jacksonville allows only 13.6 passing points per game (13th), but they allow 7.9 yards per pass attempt (28th) and 12.1 yards per completion (29th).

What has saved them is their 3.3% touchdown rate (7th) and 3.3% interception rate (29th).
