Week 9 DFS Picks: Core Players and Best Plays

Every Sunday in the weekly fantasy chats, I get asked about my favorite plays of the week or who is my player pool that weekend for DFS.

This article series covers exactly that.

I will go through the players I am targeting as core plays for all formats here. I will cover tournament plays and games to target for stacks in other posts.

The idea is that this will paint a clearer picture of framing lineups.

Week 9 DFS Content:

Our core players are the players that we will have the most exposure to in their positions.

They can be played in cash games and tournaments and are the players we are primarily building our lineups with.

I will have some analysis on the player selections and game writeups, but check out the Week 9 Worksheet for a fully detailed breakdown of the players and games.

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson ($8,200 DraftKings/$8,600 FanDuel)

With byes, injuries, and other top quarterbacks playing in isolated games, the main slate is extremely thin on front-end quarterbacks this week.

We are really down to Jackson and Jalen Hurts if you are paying up at the position.

With Hurts dealing with a knee injury and a tough matchup, Jackson has the edge in breaking a tie between the two.

Seattle has climbed up to seventh in the league in passing points allowed per attempt (0.348), ranking 13th in yards allowed per pass attempt (6.8 Y/A) and third in touchdown rate (3.0%) allowed.

This will also be a test for that Seattle defense, which is in a similar spot as the Detroit defense was before they went into Baltimore.

I do believe that this Seattle pass defense is lively with Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen healthy, and this team just added Leonard Williams to help rush the passer.

But Seattle is also coming off a run of facing Andy Dalton, Daniel Jones, Josh Dobbs, and P.J. Walker surrounding Joe Burrow over their past five games.

Seattle is 26th in rushing yards allowed per game (23.1) to quarterbacks to offer another avenue for Jackson to score fantasy points.
