Quarterback
Justin Fields (TRUST): Fields turned in the best fantasy game of his early career this past week and the highest-scoring fantasy game for a quarterback this season (42.7 points). Fields rushed for an incredible 178 yards and a touchdown, which was the second-most yardage a quarterback has ever posted in a game on the ground behind Colin Kaepernick’s 181-yard playoff performance in 2012.
Fields also tacked on three touchdown passes despite throwing for a season-low 4.4 yards per pass attempt.
At the end of that fantasy blitzkrieg, Fields has now notched five consecutive QB1 scoring weeks. The Bears have scored, 33, 29, and 32 points in the past three games, which includes matchups against the Patriots and Cowboys, who are both in the top seven in points allowed this season.
This weekend, Chicago faces the 32nd-scoring defense.
Fields has still passed for 208 yards or fewer in every game this season, but he is averaging 12.4 passing points per game over his five-week hot run. If he is going to flirt with double-digit passing points per game paired with his rushing floor (9.4 points per game) then we are cooking with a high floor and a high ceiling.
The Lions can aid that passing output as they are allowing 16.6 passing points per game (27th) and 0.486 passing points per attempt (29th). On top of that, Detroit has allowed 4.3 rushing points per game to opposing quarterbacks so far, which is 29th in the league.
It’s unlikely that we will run into another game with as many points as last week, but Fields is a strong QB1 option.
