The Worksheet: Week 18 Fantasy Football, All You Need To Know

Welcome to Week 18 of The Worksheet, a fantasy football overview, by Rich Hribar.

We have reached the final week of the 2022 regular season.

Monday Night was one of the toughest scenes we have had as fans of the sport. It is easy to lose our humanity in times like this when players and their performances are handled like game pieces. I do not want that to be the case here and hopefully the coverage can be a distraction for many while we await more news to be released.

Fantasy football is far from the things that matter surrounding things. The only thing that matters is Damar Hamlin’s health and safety.

Before diving into things that orbit this last full week of the NFL, also let me take a moment to thank everyone for this season. I am particularly thankful for all of you who went on this journey through the work that I have put out this year.

2022 was a year where I posted over 300 total articles on this website — covering games, game theory and draft strategy, player movement, rookies, and more. Some falling flat on my face and some holding the spades. At the end of the ride, hopefully, I helped the majority along the way enjoy the season. If you clicked on one article or all of them, I am thankful for your support.

The final week of the NFL regular season is always a different kind of fantasy week. The majority of fantasy leagues are wrapped up. There are some unprecedented elements in play based on the circumstances of Monday night, but those are on a league-by-league basis. Imperfect situations rarely have a clean solution and that is likely the case here based on your league’s matchup, the status of that matchup, and how all parties involved want to proceed.

We have players potentially resting for the playoffs. Nearly half of the league has absolutely nothing to play for. Even players on those teams could have shakeups for playing time to close the season while some of those who have fought through injuries on those rosters deservedly get alleviation.

For those reasons, I always do a condensed version of this article to close the year every season. I will go a bit more in length on the island games, but then just cover the surface for those who are in leagues that use Week 18 for their leagues still, as well as our last full slate of DFS, the real reason why anyone should hold interest in fantasy this weekend.

There are no Thursday or Monday night games to close the season, but we do have two Saturday games.

This article will be updated throughout the week to reflect major news or injury implications. I encourage you to use the game-by-game tables and data points here in conjunction with the player rankings available every week this season each Wednesday and enjoy the games.
