The Worksheet: Wild Card Round Fantasy Football, All You Need To Know

Welcome to the Wild Card Round edition of The Worksheet, a fantasy football overview, by Rich Hribar.

For those that are new to this article, just because the fantasy regular season has ended doesn’t mean that fantasy football stops. The fantasy playoffs offer a host of new opportunities for playoff leagues, props betting, and daily fantasy games.

271 NFL games are down and 13 remain.

This Wild Card Round features all rematches from the regular season, with three games being the third time these teams have played.

Some quick Wild Card Round odds and trends…

Since the NFL expanded to 32 teams in 2002, home teams have a 45-39 record (39-45 against the spread). Favorites are 53-31 overall with a 38-45-1 record against the spread.

Home favorites have a 40-26 record overall (30-36 ATS) while home underdogs are 5-13 (9-8-1 ATS). We have a pair of home underdogs in the Buccaneers and the Jaguars this weekend. The last home underdog winner we have had outright in the Wild Card Round was the Colts back in 2013.

Two years ago, the NFL expanded to seven playoff teams. No. 7 seeds are 0-4 (1-3 ATS) with none of those games having a point spread below a touchdown. That is the case again this season as both the Dolphins and Seahawks are double-digit underdogs this weekend.

The Wild Card Round has also skewed heavily towards the under when talking game totals. Since that 32-team expansion, the under is 50-34.
