Week 1 College Football Games to Bet On
With dozens of college football games to choose from in Week 1, we picked our six favorite bets. You can make your initial Bet365 wager on any of these games, and once it settles, you'll get $200 in bonus bets—win or lose.
Thursday, Aug. 28 – 5:30 PM ET | No. 25 Boise State vs. South Florida (+5.5, O/U 62.5)
It's the first-ever meeting between these two schools. Boise State no longer has star running back Ashton Jeanty in the backfield, but experienced quarterback Maddux Madsen returns, as does his top target, senior tight end Matt Lauter. The Broncos are usually good at reloading on offense, and USF's defense was below average last season (No. 99 in points per game allowed).
Friday, Aug. 29 – 8 PM ET | Georgia Tech vs. Colorado (+4.5, O/U 52.5)
Deion Sanders has certainly changed the culture in Colorado, but winning games without Shedeur and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter will be difficult. Coach Prime is heading into another season with a transfer-heavy roster, but so far, it's worked out in season openers. The Buffaloes beat North Dakota State to kick off 2024 and upset TCU in the 2023 opener.
On the other hand, Georgia Tech was 7-6 last season under head coach Brent Key, who is heading into his third full season. The Yellow Jackets return gritty quarterback Haynes King and an above-average running game. Expect them to find holes in the Colorado defense.
Friday, Aug. 29 – 8 PM ET | Auburn vs. Baylor (+2.5, O/U 57.5)
There's some potential for fireworks Friday night when Auburn takes on Baylor in Waco, Texas. Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze can't afford another dysmal season after going 5-7 last year, his second losing season in two years on the job. While Auburn hasn't been good of late, they still have tons of talent on the roster, led by stars Cam Coleman and Keldric Faulk.
Baylor went 8-5 last year, but rattled off six wins in a row to end the season before losing to LSU in a bowl game. They had the No. 19 scoring offense at 34.4 points per game behind returning quarterback Sawyer Robertson. We feel like both of these teams are being underrated heading into the 2025 college football season.
Saturday, Aug. 30 – 12 PM ET | No. 1 Texas vs. No. 3 Ohio State (-2.5, O/U 47.5)
Saturday's noon showdown should be a great game between Ohio State, the defending champions, and the new No. 1 team in the nation, the Texas Longhorns. These two teams should again have great defenses after ranking No. 1 and No. 3 in points allowed last year, respectively. You could have the best three defenders in college football in this one between Caleb Downs, Colin Simmons, and Anthony Hill, Jr. You also have the revenge factor for Texas after losing 28-14 on a late fumble return for a touchdown in last season's playoff meeting.
Both teams have big questions at quarterback, as Will Howard and Quinn Ewers were drafted late in the 2025 NFL Draft. Can Arch Manning possibly live up to all the hype? And can Julian Sayin become the next great Ohio State quarterback? If these defenses have anything to say about it, both quarterbacks should get a great test right away in this Week 1 showdown.
Saturday, Aug. 30 – 7:30 PM ET | No. 9 LSU vs. No. 4 Clemson (-3.5, O/U 57.5)
Saturday's other top-10 showdown features a great coaching battle between Brian Kelly (LSU) and Dabo Swinney (Clemson). LSU was 9-4 last year and hopes for bigger things this season in a do-or-die year for Coach Kelly. It's playoff or bust for the Bayou Bengals this season.
Clemson is a heavy favorite to make the College Football Playoff again, after returning pretty much everyone from last year's team, including star quarterback Cade Klubnik. Coach Sweeney recently said his team has a solid chance to become the first-ever 16-0 team. We'll get a much better read on just how good both of these teams are Saturday night.
Sunday, Aug. 31 – 7:30 PM ET | No. 6 Notre Dame vs. No. 10 Miami FL (+2.5, O/U 49.5)
The third top-10 matchup of Week 1 takes place Sunday night between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Miami Hurricanes. The Irish hope to kickstart another National Championship game run with a win in The 305. Notre Dame returns the core of their elite defense and will try to dominate the turnover battle like it did for much of last season.
Conversely, the Hurricanes had the No. 1 scoring offense last year behind Cam Ward, but he's off to the NFL, and Georgia transfer Carson Beck steps into the quarterback role. Miami fans expect the team to have a ferocious offensive line. If that's the case, the Hurricanes could be legit. Beck has proved to be a top-tier quarterback when he gets time to throw.
