Best NFL Week 5 Sunday Games to Bet On

There are some important NFL Week 5 games this Sunday, with teams from the AFC West taking on teams from the NFC East. That's where we will preview our top games and provide our best bet for each.

Sunday | 1:00 PM ET | Denver Broncos vs. Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5, O/U 43.5)

The Eagles might be the first team in NFL history to get to 4-0 while trolling spectators:

  • Sure, let's have Jalen Carter get ejected for spitting at Dak Prescott after the opening kickoff, then pitch a second-half shutout against Dallas.
  • We'll purposely false start on the Tush Push multiple times in Kansas City and get away with it.
  • We'll wait until we're down 19 points to the Rams before we throw the ball down the field, and then we'll block two field goals in the fourth quarter to cover the spread anyway.
  • Then we'll win in Tampa Bay despite not completing a single pass in the second half.

Is it sustainable? Surely not. The Eagles have the highest rate of three-and-out drives on offense, and Saquon Barkley is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry. But the talent is there for the Eagles, and we have seen it in glimpses of what they can still do with that talent when they feel like it. With this Denver matchup, it could be another quiet day for outspoken wide receiver A.J. Brown if he has to be covered by Patrick Surtain II. But the Eagles have other weapons to use, including Jalen Hurts' legs.

However, the reason to like the Eagles to get to 5-0 is the defense and forcing a young Bo Nix into mistakes on the road. Nix looked good against Cincinnati, but has had lapses in the other games this year. The Eagles don't need to blitz him, but they may have a good day at covering his receivers and forcing some risky throws into tight windows, and Nix has to prove he can beat a team this good after poor results in these types of matchups last year. Denver is also 0-2 on the road this year, blowing a late lead in both games. There may not be another team you want to face in a close one than the Eagles right now, who have lost one game that Hurts has finished in the last 53 weeks.

🎯 Best Bet: Eagles -4.5. Even with their sometimes subpar play, they've covered three games in a row, and the defense will ensure it happens again here.

Sunday | 4:25 PM ET | Washington Commanders vs. Los Angeles Chargers (-3, O/U 47)

Injuries are a big story for both teams, who both lost in Week 4, coming into this one. The good news for Washington is that Jayden Daniels is back after a knee injury cost him two games. The bad news is Terry McLaurin, his No. 1 wide receiver, is out again with an injury. Noah Brown is out, too, and Deebo Samuel is banged up but will play. So, you might have to see Daniels take matters into his own hands with scrambles the way Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and Jaxson Dart (Giants) have already successfully done against this defense. Dart even beat the Chargers last week without big passing numbers.

The Commanders have scored at least 18 points in every game since 2024 started, so they are used to getting points on the board no matter what. But they'll have to scheme up some good runs with the lack of receiver depth here.

Meanwhile, the Chargers have lost both starting tackles for Justin Herbert's line. Rashawn Slater is gone for the season, and left tackle Joe Alt will be out for some weeks with a high ankle sprain. The good news is the Chargers popped some of Omarion Hampton's best runs last week after Alt was injured, and the Washington defense is struggling right now against the run and pass. Washington lacks the pass-rushing talent the Giants had that could make Herbert's day tough. With enough time to throw, Herbert could shred this secondary with his great receiver trio of Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, and Keenan Allen. In fact, McConkey could be the guy in the slot this week after Johnston's been making the big plays the last few weeks.

With two of the most talented quarterbacks in the game, this has the potential to be a fun one that goes down to the wire again.

🎯 Best Bet: Over 47. With Justin Herbert and Jayden Daniels dealing after losses last week, this one should go over with both teams scoring into the 20s or more.
