- The Cowboys were the only team in Week 1 that allowed a first down or touchdown on every opponent possession.
- In 2025, the Cowboys defense allowed a league-high 47.3% conversion rate on 3rd downs.
- In Week 1, they allowed a league-high 81.8% conversion rate (9 of 11) on 3rd down.
- Washington faced third and long (needing 7 or more yards) on a league-high 34.5% of their sets of downs in Week 1.
- Dallas had a 35.5% success rate defending passing plays in Week 1, 31st in the league.
- Washington had a 37.1% success rate on passing plays in Week 1, 24th in the league.

Commanders vs. Cowboys Fantasy Quarterback Preview
Dak Prescott (TRUST)
Sunday night was a struggle for Prescott, who completed 22 of 34 passes (64.7%) for 175 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception.
He ended the week as the QB18 (14.4 points).
His 5.1 yards per pass attempt were his fewest in a game since Week 15 of the 2023 season.
Not all of that was on Prescott.
Dallas had a league-high 4 drops in Week 1.
The Cowboys also drew 69 yards in pass-interference calls.
Drops and penalties played a role, but Prescott finished the night 3 for 10 with an interception on throws 10 or more yards downfield.
In 2025, Prescott completed 55% of those passes (11th).
Prescott gets a favorable spot for a quick rebound.
Dallas is a home favorite with one of the week's highest team totals.
Prescott has faced Dan Quinn three times in his career.
In those games, he averaged 9.0 yards per pass attempt (with at least 8.3 Y/A in all three games) with 6 touchdowns and zero interceptions.
His teams have scored 40, 44, and 30 points in those games.
The Commanders were a boom-or-bust defense in Week 1, allowing 20.1 passing points to Jalen Hurts (26th).
They are between a rock and a hard place here.
Washington lived and died by the blitz in Week 1.
They blitzed 36.4% of the time in Week 1 (8th).
When they did blitz, they generated pressure on 66.7% of those snaps (4th).
When they blitzed Hurts, he was only 3 for 8 for 16 yards.
If they play that aggressively here, it could lead to major issues.
Over the past five years, Prescott has completed a league-high 67.8% of his passes versus the blitz with 33 touchdowns to 8 interceptions.
If Washington plays passively, they were a different defense without blitzing in Week 1.
They had a 22.7% pressure rate without blitzing (28th).
On those plays, Hurts was 11 for 17 for 187 yards (11.0 Y/A) with 2 touchdowns.
Jayden Daniels
It wasn't pretty in a tough matchup, but Daniels still found a way to turn in a serviceable fantasy game in Week 1.
He closed the week as QB13 (17.7 points).
Daniels completed 18 of 34 passes (52.9%) for 164 yards and 4.8 yards per pass attempt.
He threw 2 touchdowns while adding 31 rushing yards to anchor a poor passing day.
Daniels was working with a first-time play caller in David Blough and going up against Vic Fangio, so those results were a win in the end.
Blough did have Daniels under center for a career-high 26.9% of his snaps, but that was still 27th in the league to open the year.
We also saw Washington use pre-snap motion at a league-low 28.9% rate and play action at a 17.6% rate (26th).
We are still looking for more of the offensive “easy buttons” moving forward.
While the new offense offers a wider range of outcomes for Daniels, he remains an upside QB1 option based on his athleticism and the matchup.
Washington has a softer outlook here than in Week 1, based on what we saw from the Dallas defense on Sunday night.
Despite all the defensive changes Dallas made this offseason, the results were similar to last year.
Dallas couldn't create pressure, posting a 29.4% pressure rate (24th) despite blitzing at a 38.2% rate (7th).
The Cowboys allowed a 79.3% completion rate (31st), 7.9 yards per pass attempt (21st), and a 10.3% touchdown rate (29th) in the first week of the season.
After ranking 30th in rushing yards allowed to quarterbacks in 2025, Dallas allowed 54 yards to Jaxson Dart, the second-most in the league in Week 1.
