Grinding The Wire Advice: Week 2 Waiver Wire Targets

Week 1 was certainly worth the wait as viewers were treated to some incredible finishes. More importantly, fantasy players were given some clarity regarding player usage and team philosophies. Important to note that volume is more important than efficiency in terms of future week success and I will note a couple of players that had outlier weeks in terms of points per snap.

In addition to the great entertainment, Week 1 was a success in terms of injuries. No offensive player drafted in the first half of drafts will miss significant time outside of Elijah Mitchell and Dak Prescott both of whom are accustomed to missing time. A couple of wide receivers are likely to miss a couple of weeks with hamstring injuries, but all things considered, the week was a success in terms of lack of injuries. With the lack of injuries, there will not be a huge opportunity to add much other than roster depth or flex-worthy starters in deeper leagues.

As the high-stakes contests grow, many new players are introduced to the FAAB process. Last year’s Week 2 bidding was eye-opening as many managers struggled with bid sizing. It is important to remember that FAAB should last all 14 weeks and through pre-season and Week 1 the waiver pickup options have been mostly depth additions.
