Jaguars vs. Broncos Fantasy Quarterback Preview
Trevor Lawrence
Lawrence was sensational on Sunday, completing 18 of 23 passes (78.3%) for 245 yards (10.7 Y/A) with 4 touchdowns.
He completed 16.2% more passes than expected, the league-high rate.
Lawrence played a career-high 59.2% of his snaps under center, which led to a league-high 43.5% play-action rate.
That was his highest play-action rate in a game since 2024.
Going back to last season, Lawrence has now been a QB1 scorer in nine straight games.
He has been a top-six scorer in five straight games.
With Lawrence continuing the best stretch of football in his career, he is a QB1.
That current streak of high-end finishes includes a trip to Denver in Week 16 last season.
In that game, Lawrence scored 31.2 fantasy points.
Denver was far worse against the run than the pass in Week 1, but they are coming back home on a short week to face an offense that started out operating at a similar level of efficiency to what they did to close last season.
Bo Nix
Nix had a nightmare outing on Monday night in Kansas City.
He averaged 4.7 yards per pass attempt, which was ahead of only Cam Ward (4.4 Y/A) in Week 1.
Nix was 9.1% below expectations in completion rate (30th).
Davis Webb‘s debut calling plays could not have gone worse.
For all of the talk this offseason about Denver wanting to push the ball downfield more, Nix averaged 3.8 air yards per attempt, ahead of only Cooper Rush (3.5).
Nix was pressured on 51.5% of his dropbacks, 30th in the league.
Under pressure, he was 4 for 13 (30.8%) for 11 yards (0.8 Y/A) with an interception and 4 sacks.
Nix will look to get on track as a QB2 at home against a Jacksonville defense that should force them to throw, offering upside.
Last season, Denver threw the ball 47 times.
In that game, Nix was the QB19 (15.2 points), completing 28 of 47 passes for 352 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
There was garbage-time stat padding, but the Jaguars allowed a 72.7% completion rate (26th) and 9.3 yards per pass attempt (28th) to Deshaun Watson.
