Quarterback

Drake Maye (TRUST): It did not show up for fantasy gamers, but Maye answered the first test of this season with flying colors.

Maye completed 22 of 30 (73.3%) passes for 273 yards (9.1 Y/A) on Sunday night in Buffalo.

He did not throw a touchdown or an interception, which resulted in a QB24 (12.1 points) scoring week.

A pair of short rushing touchdowns stripped away Maye's pop for fantasy in what was otherwise a great showing.

Maye was 8 of 10 passing on throws 10 or more yards downfield.

He now leads the NFL with a 68.8% completion rate (33 of 48) on those throws, while the league average is 47.9%.

Maye is second in the league with a 117.7 rating on third downs.

Josh McDaniels has addressed an issue from the season opener, incorporating more pre-snap motion and play action.

Over the past four weeks, Maye has had motion on 53.7% of his dropbacks (16th) and used play action on 30.8% (5th).

Using pre-snap motion, Maye’s 121.1 rating is fourth in the league while his 9.1 yards per attempt average is second.

Using play action, Maye has averaged 8.1 Y/A (12th) with a 117.1 rating (12th).

Maye draws another soft matchup here.

New Orleans is allowing 8.3 yards per pass attempt on dropbacks with motion (27th) and 8.2 Y/A on play action attempts (19th).

On throws 10 or more yards downfield, the Saints have allowed a 52% completion rate (25th).

In total, the Saints are allowing 16.3 passing points per game (25th) and rank 27th in passing points allowed per attempt (0.539).

To go along with that, they are allowing 4.1 rushing points per game to quarterbacks (24th).

Spencer Rattler: Rattler snapped his career losing streak, getting his first NFL win on Sunday.

Rattler completed 21 of 31 passes (67.7%) for 225 yards (a season-high 7.3 Y/A) with a touchdown.

He added 21 rushing yards on his way to a QB19 scoring week (16.1 points).

Rattler has not made a ton of splash plays, but he is not making mistakes, either.

23.6% of his dropbacks have resulted in a gain of 1.0 EPA or better, 19th in the league.

Only 13.8% have had a loss of -1.0 EPA or worse, which is 11th.

Rattler only has one week in the front half of fantasy scoring, leaving him as a floor-based QB2.

The Patriots have allowed 8.2 yards per pass attempt (29th), but they have played bend-don’t-break defense.

They have not allowed any QB1 scoring weeks so far.
