- The Saints had a 32% success rate on rushing plays in Week 1, ahead of only the Steelers (23.8%) and Dolphins (22.2%).
- New Orleans had a league-low 48.5% success rate defending rushing plays in Week 1.

Saints vs. Ravens Fantasy Quarterback Preview
Lamar Jackson
The new Baltimore offense looked like a buzz saw in Week 1, and Jackson was in vintage form.
He was the QB6 (25 points) in a loaded scoring week at the position, completing 17 of 25 passes for 324 yards and a touchdown through the air while adding 40 yards and a touchdown rushing.
He led the NFL with 13.0 yards per pass attempt in Week 1.
Jackson played a career-high 57.8% of his snaps under center in Declan Doyle‘s new offense.
If that holds up, that rate will blow past Jackson's previous career-high of 32.9% last season.
Jackson's under-center rates have climbed because whenever we have seen work from under center, he's thrived.
Over the previous three seasons, when under center, Jackson has led the NFL with a 74.7% completion rate while averaging 9.2 yards per pass attempt (QB5) and a league-high 11.2% touchdown rate.
The Ravens are a huge home favorite with a team total just under 30 points.
Lock in Jackson as a front-end QB1.
The only reason, as of now, I am not handling giving Jackson spike-week treatment is the status of his wide receiver room.
The Ravens say Zay Flowers‘ hamstring isn't serious, but he also dealt with a hamstring issue at the end of the preseason.
The fact that he already had something come up in Week 1 could mean that they take a cautious approach and give him some time off.
If Flowers plays, Jackson's outlook improves even more.
That is because Flowers looked electric in Week 1, putting up 150 yards on just 11 routes.
The Ravens are also expected to be without rookie Ja'Kobi Lane, who left last week with a wrist injury.
Without Flowers and Lane on the field on Sunday, Jackson still completed 7 of 9 passes for 116 yards (12.9 yards per attempt), so he can still get over here, with the added potential for rushing output.
Jackson scored on a designed run.
Jackson's goal-line rushing has been fleeting since the Ravens added Derrick Henry, so that is a welcome sight if Doyle folds more of those runs back into the offense.
The Saints are coming on the road after a long overtime game in Detroit to kick off the season.
New Orleans was 31st in pressure rate in Week 1 (22%), and Brandon Staley played passively, blitzing 17.1% of the time (23rd) and playing man coverage only 1.4% of snaps (31st).
That may be the path of least resistance here since Jackson smoked the Colts, who went with a league-high 46.9% rate of man coverage in Week 1.
Jackson threw for 17.9 Y/A against Cover 1, which the Colts played a league-high 39.1% of the time to open the year.
That said, Jackson was still 8 of 11 for 141 yards (12.8 Y/A) and a score when the Colts did drop into zone.
Tyler Shough
Things got off to a shaky start for Shough in Detroit, but the jailbreak game script, overtime, and New Orleans adjustments to the blitz pushed Shough to QB8 (23.2 points) to open the season.
The Saints had zero points at the half on Sunday, with Shough completing 10 of 22 passes (45.5%) for 85 yards (3.9 Y/A) with an interception.
When blitzed in the opening half, Shough was 2 of 7 for 17 yards with an interception.
In the second half and overtime, Shough was 25 of 34 (73.5%) for 325 yards (9.6 Y/A), 3 touchdowns, and an interception.
He was 7 for 10 with 3 touchdowns when blitzed after halftime.
The Saints ran 86 plays, and Shough dropped back 62 times.
That would have been the most dropbacks in a game for anyone in 2025.
While gamers got off to a good start in Week 1 with a bucket of fantasy points, there is still some pause on going back to Shough in 1QB formats.
He is more of a volatile QB2.
The Saints are massive road dogs with a team total below 20 points.
They were in a similar setup last week, but they are facing a much better defense in Week 2.
In Jesse Minter‘s first game, they held Daniel Jones to 5.4 yards per pass attempt.
Baltimore was sixth in passing points allowed per attempt in Week 1, allowing a QB29 scoring week to Jones (9 points).
I believe Shough clears that here, but you don't want to live in the fashion of Week 1 being a weekly runout.
Detroit blitzed Shough 32.3% of the time (10th in the league in Week 1), compared to Baltimore's 23.5% blitz rate in Indy, but the Ravens had a much higher pressure rate (41.2%) than Detroit (34.9%).
