Seahawks vs. Cardinals Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Drew Lock

Lock will start this week as Sam Darnold recovers from a glute injury.

After Darnold left the season opener, Lock connected on 16 of 22 throws (72.7%) for 187 yards (8.5 Y/A) and a touchdown.

He added 13 yards rushing.

Lock is a QB2 for gamers this weekend.

Lock should be in a position to play the same style on Sunday, managing the game and operating the offense (which is throwing to Jaxon Smith-Njigba).

The Arizona defense played well in the season opener in Los Angeles.

They created a 42.9% pressure rate (8th) after a 31.6% rate last season (27th).

Was that a product of the Chargers' offensive line or a step in the right direction for this unit moving forward?

Arizona took a similar approach as in previous seasons under Nick Rallis, playing a lot of coverage and funneling throws underneath.

The Cardinals blitzed only 17.1% of the time (22nd) and played man coverage on 3.9% of snaps (27th).

Against zone coverage, Lock went 13 for 14 for 152 yards (10.9 Y/A) and threw a touchdown pass against the Patriots.

Against man coverage in Week 1, Lock went 3 for 8 for 35 yards (4.4 Y/A).

Jacoby Brissett

Brissett was solid in Week 1, completing 27 of 37 passes (73%) for 277 yards (7.5 Y/A) with a touchdown.

He added 14 yards rushing, closing the Week as the QB15 (16.5 points).

This is a tough spot to chase Brissett's Week 1 outing, even in 2QB formats.

The Chargers elected to sit back in coverage and let Brissett keep moving the sticks.

That is tougher to bet on here against a Seattle defense with a rest advantage.

In Week 1, Seattle picked up where they left off in the Super Bowl.

Even with their moving parts this offseason and missing Nick Emmanwori against the Patriots, they allowed just 5.1 passing points (2nd in the league) to Drake Maye.

Brissett did have a QB9 scoring week (19.4 points) against Seattle last season.

Arizona lost that game in a blowout, trailing 38-7 at halftime.

That game was the tipping point of Arizona losing starters every week and just playing in jailbreak game scripts.

Brissett threw the ball 44 times to get by, but he completed only 50% of his passes for 5.9 yards per attempt.

Even if the Arizona defense takes a step back in Week 2, I would not bet on Lock creating the same game script here.
