Week 2 was a positive one for offensive progression.

After offenses only averaged 20.4 points per game in Week 1, we saw that climb to 23.8 points per game on offense in Week 2.

That is the most points per game on offense in Week 2 since 2020.

After only 38 passing touchdowns in Week 1, we had 59 passing scores this past week.

That is the most for Week 2 in a season since 2018.

Running backs also got in on the action.

Backfields rushed for 4.3 yards per carry after 3.9 YPC in Week 1.

Running backs produced a first down or touchdown on 22.8% of their runs after an 18.4% rate in Week 1.

We will always have to calibrate for the current scoring climate, especially early in the year.

With a sample size of only two weeks, we already experienced how fast the fantasy pendulum can swing.

Week 1 heroes such as Justin Fields, Derrick Henry, Keon Coleman, and J.J. McCarthy, as a few examples, nosedived in Week 2.

Surprise teams in Week 1, such as the Jets and Steelers, came crashing back to Earth.

A few stars who let down in Week 1, such as Ja’Marr Chase, Malik Nabers, and Amon-Ra St. Brown (well, just about any Lion), bounced back with strong outings in Week 2.

A few players we had preemptively written off, such as Russell Wilson and Kenneth Walker, immediately flipped the script.

The Dolphins, Lions, Cowboys, and even the Giants turned around sour Week 1 outcomes for fantasy purposes.

The Eagles and Chiefs continued to struggle, while the Colts stayed sharp.

That’s what this article has always been about.

Keeping things in context and adjusting for what is happening.

We still have 16 weeks to go, so let’s buckle in.

We are still working with small samples as part of a small sample.

For the most part, we are still focusing on initial usage notes to diagnose spots where players let down expectations or exceeded them.

If you have been following this post for the past few seasons, tangible information builds up, and this post expands as the weeks build.

This article will be updated throughout the week to reflect major news or injury implications.

I encourage you to use the game-by-game tables and data points here in conjunction with the player rankings that will be available every Wednesday.

Enjoy the games!
