The big matchup in this game is the dynamic Ducks’ offense facing an Iowa defense that ranks fourth in the nation, allowing an average of only 13.1 points per game.
Both of Iowa’s losses have come against ranked teams, and like Oregon, they also lost to a currently undefeated Indiana team. The matchup is not favorable for them, as Alabama’s pass defense, which ranks seventh in the nation, is stout, while its run defense ranks only 63rd.
Alabama (7-1) has run the table since losing its season opener, and it already has four wins over ranked teams. They were shaky in their last game, needing two late TDs to beat a South Carolina team that is 1-6 in SEC play. They are tied for 30th in scoring (34.4 ppg) and rank 20th in points against (18.3 ppg).
Heisman candidateTy Simpson (2,184 yards, 20 TD, 1 INT) leads the 15th-ranked passing offense, but the rushing offense only ranks 114th. Bama will be facing an LSU defense that has given up a total of 80 points in its last two games.
