The best prediction market sites in October 2026 are Kalshi, Polymarket US, Novig, and ProphetX. Kalshi runs the busiest US sports markets, Polymarket charges the least per trade, Novig takes no fee on pre-game markets, and ProphetX only charges you when you win.

Unlike a sportsbook, you're trading contracts against other people rather than taking on fixed odds against the house, so there's no built-in vig/juice. We opened and funded accounts at all nine platforms below, placed trades and withdrew, and ranked them on liquidity, fees, and state access.

How We Tested & Rated These Prediction Markets

To rank the best prediction markets, our team tested the platforms for six weeks using the same process: downloading the mobile apps, creating accounts, passing verification, making a deposit, buying and selling contracts, observing live-market functionality, and initiating a withdrawal.

We scored each platform on the following set of criteria (weights in parentheses):

  • Liquidity (25%): How easily traders can enter and exit positions at competitive prices without significantly moving the market.
  • Regulatory standing (20%): We evaluate each platform’s regulatory framework, including its CFTC status and ability to serve US customers legally.
  • Market selection (20%): We consider the number, variety, and relevance of event contracts available across categories such as sports, politics, economics, and entertainment.
  • Fee transparency (15%): We assess both trading costs and how clearly the platform explains its fees to users before they trade.
  • Mobile app quality (10%): We evaluate app reliability, navigation, trading functionality, and how easily users can manage positions on the go.
  • Funding speed (5%): We consider how quickly and conveniently users can deposit funds and access withdrawals through supported payment methods.
  • Beginner accessibility (5%): We assess how easy it is for a first-time user to sign up, understand contract pricing, and place their first trade.

Liquidity is the most important metric, since it directly affects the quality of the trading experience within each prediction market. Regulatory standing (CFTC status) is next because it determines whether an exchange operates within the federal derivatives framework. This affects how event contracts can be listed and subjects the platform to ongoing requirements for market integrity, customer protection, and financial safeguards.

1. Kalshi: Best for NFL Market Depth

Kalshi has the best sports prediction markets in the US. On NFL Sundays, that's a huge deal, especially for those who want to dodge the vig at sportsbooks or live in a state where sportsbooks aren't yet legal. You can put $500 into an NFL spread, and it fills at the price on screen (high liquidity). Want out at halftime? You can even exit without watching the price run away from you. Neither is reliably true of the other prediction sites on this list.

Kalshi was the first CFTC-designated contract market for event contracts and runs its own exchange and clearinghouse rather than routing through someone else's. Alongside sports, there are predictions for politics, economics, weather, and culture in the same app.

👍 PROS

  • Deepest sports order books
  • Limit orders cut fees by 75%, from 1.75¢ to 0.44¢ at 50¢
  • Sports, politics, economics, weather, and culture in one place
  • Free ACH deposits and withdrawals

👎 CONS

  • Highest taker fees of the exchanges here at 1.75¢ per contract
  • Selling before settlement charges the fee a second time
  • Most legally contested platform, with sports geofenced in several states

Kalshi Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

Trading on Kalshi costs you a small fee, taken when you place the trade. On a typical NFL bet where both sides are close to even (a toss-up), a $50 trade costs you about $1.75 in fees. Back a big favorite instead and the same $50 costs around 35¢. Kalshi charges more on close calls and less on likely one-sided outcomes.

For comparison, a sportsbook takes roughly $2.25 out of the same $50 (the vig/juice). It's just hidden in the odds. There are two ways you can pay less for trades on Kalshi:

  • Name your own price instead of taking the one shown: That drops the fee to about 44¢ on a $50 trade.
  • Don't cash out early: You're charged when you buy, and again if you sell before the game ends. Letting the game play out means you don't get charged twice.

As for payments, bank transfers are free both ways, while wires cost $25. Debit cards are charged about 2%.

The Catch: Most Legally Contested Platform

Kalshi is available nationwide, but sports contracts are geofenced in several states, and the map keeps moving as more states crack down on them. For example, Kalshi is currently in active litigation with Nevada, Arizona, and Michigan. Washington issued a cease-and-desist in August 2026, and the New York Attorney General's case survived a federal challenge on August 4, when a judge declined to halt it.

Since it's the biggest prediction market site, it also has the biggest target on its back. Nothing here suggests your funds are at risk, but it might mean access in your state could change at a moment's notice. Check the app and news in your state about Kalshi before you deposit, and again before you plan a season around it.

Who Should Use Kalshi?

Kalshi is perfect for NFL and sports bettors looking for robust prediction markets. Especially those who want sports and non-sports markets in one account. If you're only ever going to open one prediction market app, this is the one.

The platform is less suited to patient limit-order traders, who'll find Polymarket US cheaper, and to anyone in a state where sports markets are currently geofenced.

Kalshi app interface and NFL trading

2. Polymarket US: Best for Low Fees & Non-sports Markets

Polymarket US is the cheapest regulated prediction market on this list for anyone willing to use limit orders. It's also the only one where most politics, economics, and culture markets carry enough volume to price properly. If your interest extends past sports, this is where the rest of the board is actually liquid rather than nominally available.

The US platform launched from Polymarket's $112 million acquisition of QCEX, a CFTC-licensed exchange. The platform relaunched in December 2025 with the waitlist lifted in May 2026. Polymarket US and Polymarket are two separate exchanges sharing a brand. The US version uses dollars and is the only one Americans can legally use, while the global platform runs on crypto and blocks US traders entirely.

👍 PROS

  • Makers pay nothing and earn roughly 25% back in rebates
  • Cheapest taker fees of the regulated exchanges at around 1.25¢ on sports
  • The only platform where most politics and culture markets carry real volume
  • CFTC-regulated through the $112m QCEX acquisition

👎 CONS

  • Blocked in nine states, including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Massachusetts
  • No crypto funding on the US exchange, unlike the global platform
  • Shallower books than Kalshi if you trade at size

Polymarket Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

Trading on Polymarket US costs less than anywhere else here, and if you're patient, it costs nothing at all. On a typical NFL bet where both sides are close to even, a $50 trade costs you about $1.25 in fees (Kalshi charges $1.75 for the same trade). Back a big favorite and it drops to around 25¢. Like Kalshi, you pay more on close calls than on one-sided ones.

You can also wait for your price and pay nothing. There are two ways to trade. Take the price on screen right now, and you pay the associated fee. However, if you set the price you want, leave the order sitting there, and wait for someone to trade against it, Polymarket charges you nothing and actually pays you a small cut of the fees it collects from anyone who trades against your set price.

The trade-off is that your order might not fill (no one trades against you). Set your price too far from the market and the game starts without you in it. That makes Polymarket US the cheapest place to trade in the category, as long as you're willing to set a price and wait rather than taking whatever's on screen.

Account funding can be done via debit card, bank transfer, or wire. There's no crypto option on the US exchange, which surprises people who know the global version.

The Catch: Blocked in Nine States

This is why Polymarket US isn't our top pick. It's accessible in roughly 41 states plus Washington, D.C. However, the platform is not available in Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Ohio, or Washington.

Nevada is the only one where a court-ordered block is settled. The rest are contested, and the list has changed several times during 2026. If you're in a blocked state, there's no workaround worth attempting, and Kalshi is the obvious alternative if available.

Who Should Use Polymarket?

Limit-order traders who want the lowest cost in the category, and anyone whose trading interest runs past sports into elections, economics, and culture.

Skip it if you're in one of the nine blocked states, if you need crypto funding, or if you trade at a size where the shallower US book will cost you more in slippage than you save in fees.

Polymarket NFL betting

3. Novig: Low-Fee Sports Trading

Novig charges nothing on pre-game straight trades, which makes it the perfect prediction market site for those who want to save money over time on fees or vig. The platform behaves more like a sportsbook than Kalshi's yes/no board, with moneylines, spreads, totals, props, futures, live markets, and parlays laid out as you'd expect. What's missing is the juice (and that's a huge draw).

Its exchange, Ludlow, received CFTC designated contract market status in 2026, so this is a regulated prediction market app rather than a platform routing elsewhere.

👍 PROS

  • $0 fees on pre-game straight trades
  • Sportsbook-style layout with spreads, totals, props, and parlays
  • Runs its own CFTC-designated exchange
  • Cards, Apple Pay, and crypto all supported for funding

👎 CONS

  • Spreads of 1% to 4% in thin markets can cost more than the fees you saved
  • 21+ only, stricter than the 18+ that applies almost everywhere else here
  • Sports only

Novig Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

Pre-game matched straight trades carry $0 for both maker and taker. Live markets may carry a fee, and some trade types are reported as carrying a price-weighted taker charge capping at around 0.75¢ per contract.

The fee structure is the best on this page if you are placing straight trades. However, if you're trading in-play or building parlays, the trade pricing becomes a lot less clear and isn't $0.

The Catch: A Free Fill on an Empty Book Isn't Free

Zero fees only help if there's someone on the other side of your trade. Since Novig is newer and smaller than Kalshi and Polymarket, there may be nobody to trade against if it's not a big game. When that happens, the price you actually get is worse than the price you wanted, and that gap costs you more than the fee/juice you just avoided.

On a Sunday NFL game with plenty of people trading, the zero fee is real money saved. On a Tuesday night college basketball game with barely anyone in the market, you'll give back more in a bad price than you'd have paid in fees at Kalshi or Polymarket.

Before you place a trade, look at how far apart the buy and sell prices are. If they're close together, there's plenty of activity, and Novig is the cheapest place you can trade. If there's a big gap, go elsewhere.

Who Should Use Novig?

Pre-game sports traders sticking to liquid markets: NFL, NBA, and the major college slates. Place bets Thursday for Sunday and hold to settlement, and the savings compound across a season. The juice over a typical football season can really add up.

Two things to know first. Novig requires you to be 21, stricter than the 18 that applies almost everywhere else here. And it's sports-only, with no politics or culture markets. Access is unavailable in Arizona, Michigan, and Nevada.

Novig prediction market

4. ProphetX: Best for Fees Only on Winning Trades

Every other exchange here takes a cut whether your trade wins or loses. However, ProphetX only charges 2% of net winnings and nothing on a losing trade. Across a losing month, that's a massive difference in your entire fee bill, and it's the only prediction market app on this list structured that way.

ProphetX is a sports-only peer-to-peer exchange running its own CFTC-designated market and clearinghouse, live since June 2026. The interface reads like a sportsbook, except the prices come from other traders rather than a trading desk or oddsmakers. There's also a parlay tool that lets you request a price on a combination trade, which is rare for prediction markets.

👍 PROS

  • 2% fees on net winnings (nothing charged on losing trades)
  • Parlay winnings charged at 0%
  • VIP tier drops straight-trade commission to 1.5%
  • No deposit or withdrawal fees on any method

👎 CONS

  • No card or PayPal deposits (ACH, crypto, or a $1,000 minimum wire)
  • Prop markets still thin following June 2026 launch
  • Sports only, with no politics, culture, or economics markets

ProphetX Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

ProphetX stands out on our list of best prediction market sites, thanks to its unique fee structure. Traders are only charged 2% on net winnings. So, let's say you win $100, you only pay $2. If your trade loses, you pay nothing. Parlay winnings are charged at 0%, win or lose. And the VIP tier brings down straight-trade commission on wins to 1.5%.

On a 40¢ contract, Kalshi takes 1.68¢ up front regardless of outcome. ProphetX takes nothing up front, then 2% of your 60¢ profit if it wins (1.2¢). It's cheaper on winners, and free on losers. This makes ProphetX the go-to exchange if you are only searching for sports markets and low fees. There are also no deposit or withdrawal fees.

The Catch: Funding is Awkward & Props Are Thin

Unfortunately, there are no debit card or PayPal deposits at ProphetX. Funding runs through online banking via Aeropay or crypto via Zerohash with a $10 minimum (or you can deposit via wire at a $1,000 minimum). If you were expecting to tap a debit card and trade in two minutes, this isn't the platform for that.

Liquidity is the other constraint. Main markets on big games are fine (marquee NFL and college football games), but prop books are noticeably thinner because the platform just recently launched in June 2026. What you save in fees you can lose in spread on anything niche, so keep that in mind.

Who Should Use ProphetX?

Sports traders who lose more months than they win, which is most people. It's also sports only, with no entertainment or election markets. Traders should look elsewhere if they want market breadth with liquidity and instant card funding.

ProphetX prediction markets for sports

5. OG.com: Parlay-style Sports Trading

Exchanges are generally poor when it comes to parlays, because every leg needs someone on the other side of the trade. OG.com is built around combination trading, so if you want the multi-leg structure of a sportsbook without the sportsbook's high margin stacked across each leg, this is the cleanest version available of any regulated prediction market.

It launched in February 2026 as the standalone, sports-first app sitting on Crypto.com Derivatives North America, the CFTC-designated market formerly known as NADEX. The exchange underneath has been federally regulated for years, even though the app is new.

👍 PROS

  • Built around combination trading (rare for a regulated exchange)
  • Holding a winning contract to settlement costs nothing extra
  • Sports alongside politics, economics, and culture

👎 CONS

  • Smallest bonus on this page: trade $10, get $10
  • Android app rates 3.6/5 against 4.4/5 on iOS
  • Charged a second time if you exit a position early

OG.com Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

Trades at OG.com cost roughly 2¢ per contract to open and 2¢ to exit early, with some sources describing it as a probability-weighted taker fee capping near 1.75¢.

The detail that matters more than the headline: Holding a winning contract to settlement costs nothing extra. You're charged on the way in, and again only if you close the trade early. If your style is to take a position and let it run, your all-in cost is a single charge, which compares well against Kalshi, where selling before resolution triggers the fee twice.

The Catch: The Smallest Welcome Offer & a Weak Android App

The OG.com sign-up bonus is “trade $10, get $10”. Of the best prediction market sites on this list, it's the smallest new-user promo by a wide margin. Set against FanDuel's $100 or ProphetX's $75, you're giving up real money to start here (however, nothing is stopping you from opening accounts at multiple exchanges).

The Android app is the other weak point, boasting just a 3.6 rating against 4.4 on iOS across a few hundred reviews. If you trade on Android, that gap is worth knowing before you sign up and deposit funds. Availability runs to 49 states, with Arizona the exception, and sports trading is geofenced in several more.

Who Should Use OG.com?

OG.com is best for parlay bettors moving to prediction markets from sportsbooks who want combination trading without the vig. Also, iPhone users who'd rather have a clean sports-first exchange app than a general trading platform.

Skip it if the welcome offer matters a lot to you, or if you're on Android and expect the app quality to match iOS.

OG.com predictions for sports and NFL

6. Crypto.com: Best for Funding from Crypto

If you want to use crypto on US prediction market sites, every other platform on this list means the same four steps: sell your position, transfer to a bank, wait for it to clear, then deposit (time-consuming and a major annoyance). Crypto.com collapses that into one. Traders can convert crypto to tradable USD from more than 350 tokens, all in the same app.

Prediction markets here run on Crypto.com Derivatives North America, the company's own CFTC-designated contract market, with contracts settling in dollars at $1 or $0 like everywhere else. It's a crypto-focused platform but trades are still conducted with USD.

👍 PROS

  • Convert from 350+ tokens straight into a USD trading balance
  • Makers pay nothing and there's no settlement fee
  • Same CFTC-designated exchange that powers OG.com
  • Genuinely useful if you already hold crypto in the app

👎 CONS

  • Prediction markets sit behind tokens and stocks in the interface
  • Shallower books than Kalshi or Polymarket US
  • Little reason to pick it over OG.com unless you're already a customer (or prefer crypto onboarding)

Crypto.com Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

On a typical NFL bet where both sides are close to even, $50 costs you about $1.75 in fees (similar to Kalshi). Back a big favorite and it drops to around 35¢. So, like everywhere else, you pay most on the close calls. Set the price you want instead of taking what's on screen at the moment you want to trade, and the fee disappears entirely (but remember, you run the risk of not having the other side of your trade backed by a peer).

You also pay nothing when a market settles, so a winning trade you hold to the end costs you only once.

The Catch: It's a Crypto App with Trading Bolted On

Far fewer people trade on Crypto.com than top prediction markets like Kalshi or Polymarket. That means that only big games have another side for you to trade against. When that happens, and the market is not very liquid, you get a worse price than you wanted, and that costs more than the fee you were comparing.

The app itself is the bigger issue. Prediction markets sit in a menu alongside tokens, stocks, and a dozen other products, which means finding a market takes more taps than it should. Everything about the experience screams crypto trading and not a prediction market app focused on sports, politics, and culture.

Who Should Use Crypto.com?

Existing Crypto.com customers who hold tokens and want to trade NFL contracts without it taking three days of moving money from crypto to fiat before placing trades. That's a real advantage, and nothing else on this list offers it.

If you don't already use the Crypto.com app, there's little reason to start here. The funding advantage is the whole use case.

Crypto.com prediction markets

7. PrizePicks: Best All-in-one with DFS

PrizePicks put prediction markets inside an app millions already use for daily fantasy sports (DFS). Users can place trades one moment, then make Player Picks, Team Picks, or Culture Picks the next. It's a DFS product and prediction market on one balance and in one app, so you can run a lineup and trade a contract without switching platforms or funding a second account. For DFS fans, it's a massive plus.

As an added advantage, PrizePicks operates in states with no legal mobile sportsbook, including California, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. That's roughly 100 million people who can now wager on sports through event contracts and play DFS in one app.

👍 PROS

  • Available in California, Texas, Florida, and Georgia, where sportsbooks aren't
  • Contracts and pick'em on one balance in one app
  • Markets sourced through partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket US
  • Player, Team, and Culture Picks in an interface millions already use

👎 CONS

  • The $50 sign-up bonus only works on DFS lineups, not on contracts
  • You're paying a middleman (PrizePicks resells access to Kalshi and Polymarket, so you pay more than going direct and can't wait for a better price)

PrizePicks Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

Reported costs run 0.5¢ to 2¢ per contract, and the structure behind that number explains why it varies.

PrizePicks Predict runs through Performance Predictions II LLC, a CFTC-registered Futures Commission Merchant, not an exchange. The designated contract market is the venue where trading happens; the FCM is the brokerage account you open to reach it. PrizePicks sources its markets through partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket US.

The practical consequence is that you're paying for a layer traders going direct don't pay for, and you get no maker/taker control — so the limit-order discount that makes Kalshi and Polymarket US cheap isn't available to you.

The Catch: The New User Promo Doesn't Work on Prediction Markets

New users can snag the PrizePicks promo code for a $50 bonus when signing up. However, the bonus only applies to DFS lineups. You cannot use it on the prediction market side of PrizePicks.

If DFS is part of why you're here, it's genuinely good value. If you came purely to trade prediction market contracts, the offer isn't for you and the fees are higher than going direct through Polymarket and Kalshi.

Who Should Use PrizePicks?

Existing PrizePicks players and DFS enthusiasts who want to trade on prediction markets without a second app, and anyone in a state where Kalshi and Polymarket US aren't available. For that second group, the premium of paying higher fees for Kalshi and Polymarket through the PrizePicks app is a fair trade-off for access.

Everyone else should weigh the cost of using the layer against simply opening a Kalshi or Polymarket account.

PrizePicks prediction app

8. FanDuel Predicts: Best for PayPal & Venmo Funding

FanDuel Predicts stands out for a couple of key reasons. First, new users get $100 back for trading $1 a day across five days, which is the highest-value prediction market sign-up bonus on our list and the lowest bar to clear. Nothing else comes close to that return. And second, it's also the only one of our best prediction market sites to support both PayPal and Venmo funding.

FanDuel Predicts is the app for FanDuel's prediction markets, a joint venture between FanDuel Group and CME Group, with contracts listed by CME's derivatives exchanges under CFTC regulation.

👍 PROS

  • $100 back for $5 of trading, the best value offer on this page
  • PayPal and Venmo funding, which most exchanges don't support
  • Works through an existing FanDuel account with no new signup
  • Reputable brand backing

👎 CONS

  • 2% of potential payout charged up front whether you win or lose, the most expensive structure here
  • Charged again if you exit a position early
  • Sports contracts live in only around 18 states, with thin books

FanDuel Predicts Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

FanDuel charges 2% of your potential payout, taken up front when you place a trade. On a 50¢ contract paying $1, that's 2¢ before you know the outcome (higher than Kalshi's peak fee), and you pay it whether the trade wins or loses. Exit early, and you're charged again.

This is high compared to other prediction markets. For example, ProphetX only takes 2% of actual profit when you win. Kalshi takes 1.75¢ for toss-ups and less at every other price. FanDuel takes 2¢ on every trade at 50¢ regardless of outcome. It has the most expensive fees in our list.

The Catch: Thin Books on Top of the Highest Fees

Another downside is the liquidity when compared to Kalshi or Polymarket. When placing a trade, you may not get filled at the price you want, and the spread you eventually pay is another gut punch in addition to the already expensive fees.

Sports contracts are also live in only about 18 states (the states where FanDuel doesn't offer its sportsbook). If you live somewhere FanDuel already operates, use the sportsbook for sports betting and treat Predicts as an add-on for financial and culture markets.

Who Should Use FanDuel Predicts?

FanDuel Predicts is solid for those who want to snag a prediction market sign-up bonus of $100. It's the best offer on this page. It's also great for loyal FanDuel users who know and trust the brand.

9. Betr: Best New Prediction Market

Betr became the first consumer app to run on Polymarket's markets when it launched Predictions on September 8, 2026, as part of its Betr 2.0 relaunch. Predictions now sit in one wallet alongside Picks, the social sportsbook, the social casino and the arcade, making it one of the broadest single-account products to offer prediction markets.

If you are a Betr user who wants Polymarket's pricing but don't want to run a second app, this is currently the only way to get it. Betr expects to remain Polymarket's largest consumer partner for some time.

👍 PROS

  • Established DFS product with a strong track record
  • Five real-money products behind one login and one balance
  • Launched September 8, 2026, with Polymarket as the market partner

👎 CONS

  • In beta stage, so most states and market categories aren't live yet
  • The $200 offer applies to DFS only, not to prediction market trading
  • Liquidity to be determined

Betr Fees: What a Trade Actually Costs

Betr acquired Ascent Capital Management to become a CFTC-registered introducing broker, which let it bypass the exchange-approval process it had been waiting on since October 2025. Like PrizePicks, it routes trades rather than matching them.

In practice, it means that Polymarket US's fees apply (a price-weighted taker fee capping around 1.25¢ on sports), plus whatever Betr's arrangement with Polymarket adds. Going direct to Polymarket US gets you the maker rebate and full order control.

The Catch: Most of It Isn't Live Yet

Betr's prediction market recently launched as a phased beta in select states, with the full release planned for later in the football season. Sports markets came first, with other categories following at a later date.

Our rating reflects that rather than the quality of the product. Check whether your state is live before planning around it. Also, another key caveat is that the $200 back plus a free pick welcome bonus only applies to the DFS product, not to prediction market trading.

Who Should Use Betr?

Existing Betr Picks players, and anyone who genuinely wants five real-money products behind one login and one balance rather than five apps and five deposits. It's a great choice for DFS users who want Polymarket's prediction markets under one roof.

If prediction markets are the only reason you're here, open a Kalshi or Polymarket US account instead. This is a super-app play, and a good one, but the trading layer is borrowed rather than built.

Best Prediction Markets: Head-to-head comparisons

Let's break down a few head-to-head comparisons to give you an even better idea of which prediction market is best.

Kalshi vs Polymarket US: Which is Cheaper?

In short, Polymarket US is cheaper than Kalshi. On a $50 NFL bet where both sides are close to even, Polymarket charges about $1.25 and Kalshi charges $1.75. If you wait for your price rather than taking what's available in the moment, Polymarket charges you nothing at all and pays you a small amount back. Kalshi still takes a fee, just a smaller one.

However, Kalshi is better at most other things. Far more people trade there, which means there's almost always someone on the other side of your trade at the price you wanted. On Polymarket, you'll sometimes find a gap between what buyers are offering and what sellers are asking, and that gap can cost you several times more than the 50¢ you saved in fees.

Which to pick: Polymarket US if you're happy to set a price and wait. Kalshi if you want your trade filled straight away, you're betting larger amounts, or you live somewhere Polymarket can't operate.

Polymarket vs Polymarket US: What's the Difference?

This is a huge area of confusion. Polymarket and Polymarket US are the same brand, same market board, but two entirely different exchanges.

The global platform settles in USDC on Polygon and has been live since 2020 (it is closed to US persons). On the other hand, Polymarket US settles in dollars, is CFTC-regulated through the QCEX acquisition, and is the only version you can legally access from inside the country.

The depth gap is real. A 50,000-contract order moves the global book by a fraction of a cent and the US book by several cents. For normal retail size, that won't matter. At institutional size, it does. The global platform also supports crypto funding, while the US platform doesn't.

OG.com vs Crypto.com: Same Exchange, Two Apps

Both of these run on the Crypto.com Derivatives North America exchange. They have the same contracts, same fees, and same regulator. Basically, you're choosing an interface, not a market.

OG.com is the standalone sports-first app. It's cleaner, better organized for trading on games or for creating combination trades (parlays). Crypto.com is the same exchange inside a wallet that also holds tokens and stocks. Pick it if you're already a customer and want to fund your account through crypto.

Best Prediction Market Sites by Category

After covering nine of the best prediction markets for betting, some stand out more than others for specific types of markets (sports, politics, culture, etc.) and types of traders (sports bettors, beginners, crypto users, etc.). Below, we've outlined which is best for each category.

🏈 Best Prediction Market for Sports Betting

Kalshi stands out as the best prediction market for sports trading due to its massive liquidity, federally regulated status, and deep market coverage. Following its CFTC approval for sports contracts, sports trading has become Kalshi's primary growth driver, accounting for billions in trading volume across major U.S. leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. Kalshi’s real-time order liquidity for live in-game trading allows users to hedge or lock in profits dynamically without paying any built-in vig like on a sportsbook. Novig is also worth a look for traders who prioritize execution control over pure market scale.

📈 Best Prediction Market for Crypto Funding

Crypto.com is our top pick for crypto funding because it’s an all-in-one app for buying crypto, trading stocks, and prediction markets. Traders can instantly convert supported cryptocurrency into USD to fund trades without first cashing out through a separate service. The feature supports more than 350 tradable tokens, including BTC, ETH and CRO, making it a convenient option for users who already hold cryptocurrency on the platform. Other apps will have you doing extra steps to get crypto funding.

🏛️ Best Prediction Market for Politics & Culture Markets

Polymarket US is the standout pick for politics, elections, and culture-related event contracts, offering the deepest liquidity on marquee political and cultural questions among the best prediction market betting sites. Its broader, more novel market catalog, spanning everything from elections to pop-culture outcomes (award shows like the Oscars), draws the trading volume that makes those specific markets sharper than thinner alternatives.

🎯 Best Prediction Market for Beginners

For first-time users, Kalshi is the best of the prediction market apps since it most closely mirrors a simple sports betting app. You can sign up with your email or Google account, then just complete the standard registration (name, phone number, address, SSN, birthdate, etc.). Then you can instantly fund your account by Google Pay, card, bank account, Venmo/PayPal/Cash App Pay, or crypto. Then you can quickly start placing trades with yes/no positions on open markets with the well-designed app.

💰 Best Prediction Market for Cost-Conscious Traders

Novig differentiates itself with a no-vig, peer-to-peer pricing model that lets traders set their own contract price rather than accepting the platform's posted number. This is a structural difference from fee schedules that typically favor makers over takers. For sports-focused traders sensitive to the cumulative cost of fees, this pricing control is a genuine edge over other fixed-fee competitors.

What Is a Prediction Market?

Prediction markets are exchange-traded markets where participants buy and sell event contracts based on the outcomes of future real-world events (sports, politics, weather, etc.). Many contracts use a binary Yes/No structure, with prices reflecting the market’s collective estimate of how likely an outcome is to occur.

With binary contracts, contract pricing generally ranges from $0 to $1 and can be viewed as an implied probability. A “Yes” contract priced at $0.72, for example, indicates that traders collectively estimate roughly a 72% chance of the event occurring. As traders buy and sell positions, prices can change to reflect new information, supply and demand, and shifts in market sentiment. A correct contract typically settles at $1, while an incorrect contract settles at $0.

How Do Prediction Markets Work?

Prediction markets let traders buy and sell event contracts tied to the outcome of a future event, such as a sporting event, election, or economic report. Contracts generally represent possible outcomes and are priced between $0 and $1, with contract pricing serving as an indication of the market’s implied probability. For example, a contract trading at $0.64 suggests the market sentiment collectively views that outcome as having roughly a 64% chance of occurring.

Prices move the same way as other markets. More traders buying “yes” pushes the price up; more selling or buying of “no” pushes it down. Many platforms use peer-to-peer trading, matching buyers and sellers against each other rather than against a house book like the sportsbooks use.

Here is the general life cycle of a trade:

  1. Buy a contract by taking a position (usually “yes” or “no”).
  2. Price moves with demand as news or data can shift market sentiment.
  3. Sell the contract at the new price for a profit or loss, or you hold until resolution as trades are not locked in.
  4. Once the event concludes, the market is resolved and payouts are made (winning shares typically at $1, losing shares at $0).

Are Prediction Markets Actually Accurate?

Yes, a heavily traded prediction market can be very accurate in the sense that it gives a real-world probability signal. If a market prices a large number of comparable outcomes at 70 cents, those outcomes should occur roughly 70% of the time if the markets are well calibrated.

Accuracy varies by prediction market and is affected by liquidity and trade volume. When the event is new and traders have purchased a limited number of contracts, the accuracy will not be as high until there’s greater market maturity and diversified traders (small fish, whales, etc.). Mature markets capture market sentiment much better.

Given the wide range of events traded, it is hard to say which prediction market is the most accurate. A 2025 Vanderbilt study on political markets during the 2024 U.S. presidential election found PredictIt had 93% accuracy, while Kalshi had 78% and Polymarket had 67%. However, the authors also noted that exchanges list different mixes of contracts, so the comparison is not apples-to-apples.

Prediction Markets vs. Sportsbooks: What's the Difference?

Regulated prediction markets differ from traditional, licensed sportsbooks in that prices are driven by peer-to-peer trading activity, and the exchange does not take a side on the outcome. At a sportsbook, you’re betting against the house at fixed odds, and their lines have a built-in margin (known as the “juice” or “vig”). With prediction markets, you have more freedom to open, close, or flip a position as market sentiment changes.

Below is a table outlining the key differences between sportsbooks and prediction market sites.

Feature Prediction markets Traditional sportsbooks
Pricing Set by supply and demand between peer-to-peer traders. Contract prices shift in real time as people buy and sell. The house sets the odds, with a built-in margin (the vig) priced into them.
Regulation Regulated financial exchanges under the CFTC in the US. Licensed and overseen by state gaming commissions.
Event types Varied: sports, elections, macroeconomics, pop culture and more. Mostly sporting events, with some novelty and entertainment markets.
Fees May charge transaction, taker or maker fees, depending on the platform. Sometimes a fee on certain deposit or withdrawal methods, but the odds themselves carry the book's profit margin.

What No-vig Actually Saves You: Getting Rid of the ‘Juice'

A standard NFL spread at -110 odds means you need to risk $110 to win $100 (that $10 difference is the cut sportsbook takes). After factoring in the vig, you need to win 52.4% of all your bets just to break even. That 2.4-point gap above a coin flip is the house edge, and it's the main reason most bettors lose over a season, considering oddsmakers are very good at setting the lines close to a 50-50 outcome.

On a prediction market, a 50-50 outcome trades near 50¢ and settles at $1. No built-in margin, so break-even is 50% plus fees, which depends on the prediction market you use. Here's a quick look at prediction market fees compared to the vig/juice at a sportsbook:

Platform Fee model Break-even on a coin flip
Novig $0 on pre-game straight trades 50.0%
Polymarket US 0.10% taker on immediate fills ~50.1%
ProphetX 2% of net winnings, only when you win ~50.5%
Kalshi Peaks near 1.75¢ per contract at 50¢ ~51.8%
Sportsbook at -110Benchmark Built into the price 52.4%

The spread between a zero-fee exchange and a -110 sportsbook is 2.4 percentage points. Against Kalshi's peak fee (1.75¢ per contract at 50¢), it's about 0.6 points. So, generally speaking, the cost of using prediction markets is less than the vig at NFL betting sites.

Let's say you bet 100 NFL games at $110 a side and you've put $11,000 through. A bettor picking at exactly 52.4% breaks even at a sportsbook. That same bettor might clear roughly $520 on a zero-fee exchange. At 54%, the sportsbook bettor makes around $350 and the exchange trader around $880.

That said, there's a catch. The posted fee is half the cost. The other half is the spread on a thin book. If a market is quoted 48¢ bid, 53¢ ask, you're paying 5¢ to get filled, which dwarfs any fee above. That's why liquidity outranks fees in our scoring, and why a small taker fee on a deep book beats a free fill on an empty one.

The rule: Use cheap prediction markets for liquid pre-game markets (marquee NFL games), and more popular ones like Kalshi when trading on a smaller sporting event.

Can Prediction Markets Replace a Sportsbook for NFL Betting?

It's a complex question, but the answer is: partly. Here's what transfers and what doesn't.

  • What works: Moneylines, spreads, and totals on primetime and marquee games have real liquidity on Kalshi, Polymarket, Novig, and ProphetX. Live in-game trading is arguably better than a sportsbook, because you exit at a price rather than accepting a cash-out the sportsbook calculates in its own favor.
  • What doesn't work: Player props are thin almost everywhere outside Kalshi, and the more uncommon the prop, the less likely you are to find a viable market. Same-game parlays barely exist, and where they do, the pricing is still finding its level. If your betting is prop-heavy or SGP-heavy, prediction markets are a supplement rather than a replacement.
  • What's genuinely better: Season-long futures. A futures ticket at a sportsbook is dead money until January. On an exchange, you can sell when the price moves in your favor or against you, taking profits or cutting losses before it's too late. Take an NFL division winner in August, watch them start 5-0, and you can take a hefty profit without waiting for the season to play out.

Are Prediction Markets Legal in the US?

Yes, prediction markets are legal in the United States at the federal level when they are regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This differs from sportsbooks, which have to get licensing and regulatory oversight from the state gaming commission to operate legally.

However, there is active litigation between the CFTC and various states as of September 2026:

  • CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig asserts that his agency has exclusive jurisdiction over prediction markets.
  • The CFTC has filed an amicus brief in states, including Nevada, Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, and Massachusetts, for sole authority after those states deemed prediction markets to be illegal gambling.
  • The DOJ sued the state of Minnesota after it tried to pass a law to ban prediction market trading in May 2026.
  • Washington sent a cease-and-desist to Kalshi in August 2026 as they face active litigation.
  • Some FanDuel-style operators have withheld sports contracts in states where they hold sportsbook licenses.

Since legality can vary by state, it is in your best interest to check the prediction market’s mobile app or website for current legal status and availability in your state.

Responsible Trading: Know the Risks

Trading on a prediction market carries real financial risk and is fundamentally distinct from risk-free investing and sportsbook betting. Prices can undergo significant volatility as real-world information is learned, and there is always the possibility of losing the full amount of capital invested in any trade. You should only trade with risk capital that you can afford to lose entirely.

Also, there are age-eligibility requirements to open an account and trade real funds. It is typically 18 years old in the U.S., though exact age restrictions can vary by platform and local jurisdictions. For additional information about event contracts, their risks, and the protections available on regulated U.S. exchanges, consult the CFTC’s Prediction Markets and Event Contracts guide.

Which Prediction Market Should  You Use?

For most people, the obvious answer will be Kalshi. It has the most people trading on it, which means your bet gets filled at the price you want, and it covers everything from NFL to elections in one app. Fees are a little higher than Polymarket's, but the difference is small, and you get it back in better prices thanks to more volume.

Choose Polymarket US if you're happy to set your price and wait. That feature allows you to pay no fees at all. It's also the only place where politics and culture markets have enough people trading to be worth using. Check if it's available in your state first, because it's currently in heated legal battles in nine states, causing its access to be spotty.

If you only trade on sports, Novig charges nothing on bets placed before kickoff, and ProphetX only takes a cut when you win (2%). Both are cheaper than Kalshi. Both are also newer and quieter, which means sticking to the big games with a lot of liquidity is good practice.
