Quarterback

Tyrod Taylor: Taylor has been the QB10 (16.7 points) and QB17 (12.8 points) in his two starts this season.

Taylor is a floor-based QB2 with upside as a rusher.

In his second start, Taylor averaged 7.9 yards per pass attempt.

Justin Fields bested that in only two of his starts.

The Jets were still extremely run-heavy since the game never got away from them.

They threw the ball 9% below expectations on Sunday.

As tight home underdogs, that could be the case again.

Atlanta has an aggressive defense, blitzing 37.5% of the time (second in the league).

They have been effective when blitzing, generating a 50.7% pressure rate (5th) and a league-high 18% sack rate when sending extra defenders.

This passing game has had issues with protection all season.

Taylor only has a 55-dropback sample this season, but when he has been pressured, he has completed 19 of 34 (55.9%) passes for 5.8 Y/A.

He has been sacked on 26.1% of his pressures.

Taylor does have a 16.4% scramble rate when pressured, which could lead to more runs.

The Falcons have allowed 21.6 rushing yards per game to quarterbacks (22nd).

Kirk Cousins: Cousins was serviceable last week and much better than his first start of the season.

Cousins ended last week as the QB15 (14.5 points), completing 16 of 23 passes (69.6%) for 199 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception.

He was fourth among all passers in passing points per attempt (0.607) last week.

Atlanta did make some adjustments to insulate Cousins better.

The Falcons were conservative, throwing the ball 11% below expectations.

Cousins played under center 54.5% of the time compared to a 14.3% rate in his first start.

That allowed Atlanta to use a season-high 39.1% play-action rate.

Using play action, Cousins was 7 of 9 for 117 yards and a touchdown.

The Falcons also played 13 personnel on a season-high 60% of their snaps.

They had a 0.5% rate of 13 personnel entering last week.

Atlanta was able to deploy that game plan in a favorable matchup against an offense that was not going to run away from them.

Cousins is still a floor-based QB2 because we do not believe Atlanta will have to alter much here against another limited opponent and force a ton of volume.

That said, there is again a runway for efficiency per pass attempt.

Against play action, the Jets have allowed a 73.5% completion rate (30th), 8.7 Y/A (24th), and an 11.8% touchdown rate (31st).
