Quarterback

Sam Darnold: Darnold quickly rebounded last week against Tennessee from his rough outing against the Rams in Week 11.

He finished the week as the QB8 (17.7 points), throwing for 9.4 yards per pass attempt with 2 passing touchdowns.

He did not throw an interception for the first time since Week 6, although he still had a 6.9% turnover-worthy throw rate, the sixth highest of Week 12.

Darnold is attached to a solid team total as a home favorite here, putting him in play as a higher-end QB2 against his former team.

I do believe you can still start Darnold in 1QB leagues if you have been, but I prefer him in that higher-end QB2 range, as there are boom-bust elements in play here.

The Vikings have been solid as they have gotten healthier, not allowing a QB1 scoring week over their past four games against Jared Goff, Lamar Jackson, Caleb Williams, and Jordan Love.

Minnesota has allowed those passers to complete 60.8% of their passes (13th), for 6.7 Y/A (13th), and a 2.5% touchdown rate (6th).

They have been worse on the road this season, allowing 7.2 Y/A (17th) and a 5.2% touchdown rate (22nd).

Minnesota is blitzing at the league’s highest rate (47%) and zone blitzing 45.9% of the time.

Darnold has thrown for a league-high 10.8 yards per pass attempt against the blitz, but is tied for a league-high 5 interceptions.

Against zone blitzes, he has thrown for 12.3 Y/A, but with 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Darnold is also second in interceptions thrown against two-high coverage (6), which Minnesota uses on a league-high 66.7% of their defensive snaps.

Max Brosmer: Brosmer is set to make his first NFL start this weekend with J.J. McCarthy in concussion protocol.

Brosmer completed 35 of 58 passes (60.3%) for 6.3 Y/A with 2 touchdowns and an interception this preseason.

He has thrown 8 passes in the regular season in clean-up spots, completing 5 for 42 yards.

The bar is extremely low for Brosmer to have this offense more functional than it has been seen since McCarthy returned.

Since McCarthy returned in Week 8, Minnesota is 31st in EPA as a passing offense (-39.2).

For fantasy purposes, this is just a tough spot to have confidence in producing points, making Brosmer a 2QB fill-in for needy gamers.

Minnesota has the lowest team total of the week on the road against a Seattle defense that is seventh in passing points allowed per attempt (0.375).

Since 2000, rookie passers are 4-15 in games at Seattle, completing 55.2% of their passes for 5.4 Y/A with 23 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.

Rookie quarterbacks are 1-7 against Mike Macdonald defenses, completing 59.6% of their passes for 5.0 Y/A with 2 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
