Week 9 Waiver Wire Targets

I don’t know about you, but things are getting plenty spooky for me when it comes to trying to figure out my chances of making the playoffs in my many eleven-week “sprint” regular season leagues.

I fully understand going in that my risk-loving plans can and will blow up in my face more often than they’ll pan out, but I play main event type leagues with “winning it all” at the forefront of my mind. The individual league prizes in such events are simply not what draws me in.

Thank goodness for dynasty leagues. To anyone who considers themselves good at redraft fantasy football, I whole-heartedly recommend trying dynasty if you haven’t already. The trading alone is awesome, but even better is being able to absorb major injuries to top-notch players. You don’t “waste” your second-round pick by throwing these “out for the season” type players back into the waiver wire, you stash them on the injured reserve list and have them back and healthy for the following year without even sacrificing a future draft pick.

If you are doing poorly at both redraft and dynasty, there’s always the weekly wiped-clean slate of Daily Fantasy Sports. When the reality of a losing season rears its ugly head in the coming weeks, you’ll find an influx of eager DFS players, ready to forget season-long, and embrace the new and very different challenge of single game slates and hundreds of thousands of competing lineups.

A tip of the hat to that faithful ally of survival: compartmentalizing.
