Top Football Games to Bet On This Weekend
There are some really big games in college football and the NFL this weekend. We have a preview of two of the most marquee matchups, which you can use your sportsbook bonuses on this weekend.
Saturday | 3:30 PM ET | Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators (+7.5, O/U 50.5)
It's a classic SEC matchup with the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (6-1) as only a touchdown favorite on the road against the Florida Gators (3-4). The Bulldogs had a bye week after their 43-35 thrilling win over Ole Miss. The offense has been on point, averaging 33.7 points per game this season and even better in the last month. But the Gators have a solid defense, and they have a new interim coach (Billy Gonzales) after Billy Napier was fired after the 3-4 start. Gonzalez will make his debut in this game, a tough task against a great coach like Kirby Smart.
The Gators' issues are largely on offense. If you remove their 55 points in Week 1 against a non-FCS school, the Gators are only averaging 17.0 points per game. This is their fifth game against a team ranked in the top 10 this season, and they haven't surpassed 17 points in three of 3-of-4 games so far. Only a 29-21 win over Texas stands out for the Gators.
Georgia's running game isn't that explosive anymore, but quarterback Gunner Stockton is giving them a solid, efficient season. He needs to avoid picks as the Gators are very good against the run and will try to make Georgia play one-dimensional offense. Last year, Georgia was tied 20-20 in the fourth quarter with Florida thanks to three interceptions by ex-quarterback Carson Beck before the Bulldogs pulled away with two late touchdowns in a 34-20 win. It wouldn't be shocking to see something similar play out here, given the coaching experience gap and the disparity in offensive efficiency between these teams.
Sunday| 4:25 PM ET | Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills (-2, O/U 52.5)
The Chiefs and Bills know each other as well as any teams, as this is their 10th meeting since 2020, making it the best current rivalry in the NFL due to the high-caliber play of Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. But it's been a wild last eight games as the Bills are 4-0 in the regular season and 0-4 in the playoffs against these Chiefs. They'd probably kill to switch that fate around if it meant losing this game would lead to a change of fate in January. However, with the way the Colts, Patriots, Broncos, and Chargers are playing in the AFC this year, there's no guarantee we'll see a rematch, as many had circled this one as an AFC Championship Game preview in May.
But coming into Sunday's game, the Chiefs are playing better football than the Bills. They've been much sharper and efficient on offense, with Mahomes the favorite to win MVP again. They have their full arsenal of receivers, though they may not have Isaiah Pacheco at running back or Josh Simmons at left tackle for this one. However, Buffalo's Ed Oliver is out at defensive tackle, which is a big loss. The Bills are not a good defense if they're not forcing turnovers, and they've found themselves down by 10-plus points in the fourth quarter of every game against a competent team this year (Ravens, Patriots, Falcons).
The Chiefs are also winning games by two touchdowns or more this year, a huge change from the last few years, where they had a record 17-game streak of winning one-score games. They're actually 0-3 in one-score games this year. But they've been dominating on defense in the last month, and they usually shut down top running backs, so this may not be a great game for James Cook, who has been Buffalo's best and most consistent player this season. The Chiefs are also starting to force turnovers again on defense, and they become almost unbeatable when they're getting takeaways while protecting the ball like they have been doing.
But the Bills usually play Kansas City very well in these games, and they are home for this one. It should be must-see TV on Sunday afternoon, but let's not forget that Mahomes is 18-6-1 ATS as an underdog or slight favorite, just like he is in this game. This Kansas City team has the potential to be its strongest since 2019, but it needs to win a game like this to earn that status and praise after three early losses this season.
