Top Football Games to Bet On This Weekend

It should be another good weekend of football games with Week 9 in college football and the NFL Week 8 schedule. While people will flock to games like Texas A&M vs. LSU and Aaron Rodgers taking on the Packers in Pittsburgh, we have our eyes set on two other games for your betting value.

The UCLA Bruins were a laughingstock earlier this season at 0-3. They fired coach Deshaun Foster, promoted Tim Skipper and a new play-caller for the offense, and upset Penn State in a 42-37 shocker. Then, they dominated Michigan State in a 38-13 win before topping Maryland 20-17 last week. The team is on a roll, with transfer quarterback Nico Iamaleava looking like someone worthy of the hype over where he was going to play in 2025.

But the Bruins are still a huge 25.5-point underdog in Indiana this week as the No. 2 Hoosiers are rolling at 7-0. They rank No. 4 in both scoring offense and scoring defense. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza has played his way into the top of the Heisman Trophy race with 21 touchdowns and just two interceptions. The Hoosiers are red hot, and their signature win was 30-20 in Oregon to take down the No. 3 team a few weeks ago. They also beat Michigan State by the same score (38-13) as UCLA did.

But doesn't 25.5 points feel a little disrespectful? This has been a wild season, and many highly ranked teams have fallen in major upsets. Indiana's season is frankly the beneficiary of this decline and disappointment around the nation, as no one saw the Hoosiers being this excellent, nor was Mendoza this close to winning the Heisman. It feels like a cursed race where the new favorite flops the next week.

The Hoosiers are very good and absolutely should win this game. They beat UCLA 42-13 on the road last year. But let's go with the coaching matters angle and expect a more competitive game.

Sunday| 4:25 PM ET | Dallas Cowboys vs. Denver Broncos (-3.5, O/U 50.5)

There are eight AFC vs. NFC matchups in Week 8, and arguably the most interesting one is Dallas (3-3-1) at Denver (5-2). The Cowboys are smoking hot on offense, and they only got CeeDee Lamb back last week. In the previous four games, Dak Prescott has thrown 13 touchdowns to zero interceptions, getting his name back in the MVP discussion. He lit up Washington last week, but the road is a different test, and Mile High is usually one of the toughest places to play. It doesn't help that the Broncos have an elite corner (Patrick Surtain II) and pass rush.

But the Broncos have been sluggish on offense to start these games. They needed a 14-point fourth-quarter comeback in Philadelphia to beat the Eagles. They need a game-winning drive to beat the Jets 13-11 in London. Then they needed to come back from deficits of 19-0, 26-8, and a late field goal to knock off the Giants at home on Sunday in a ridiculous game. The Broncos set a record with 33 fourth-quarter points after getting shut out for 45 minutes. This has been a problem for the Sean Payton-coached offense. Bo Nix does better in an up-tempo offense. He became the first quarterback ever to throw two touchdowns and run for two touchdowns in a single quarter last week.

This is an intriguing matchup all around. Nix is 2-8 when the Broncos allow at least 20 points, and the Denver defense has been shaky against these elite offenses. They gave up a 300-yard passing game to Jaxson Dart last week, and he didn't even have Malik Nabers. What can Prescott and Lamb do here? But the Dallas defense is also so vulnerable that Nix could have an elite game against them behind his great line. It's a fascinating game.
