Best NFL Week 16 Games to Bet

The NFL Week 16 schedule is loaded again with interesting games, including some divisional matchups. We've picked out two of the best games for our betting previews.

Saturday | 8:20 PM ET | Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears (+1.5, O/U 46.5)

These teams just played in a Week 14 game won 28-21 by the Packers after Caleb Williams threw an interception on fourth-and-1 into the end zone in the waning seconds. But a lot has changed in a short period of time after the Packers lost Micah Parsons for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL in Denver, the same injury they already lost tight end Tucker Kraft to earlier this season. Those were two of the team's biggest difference makers this season that had them thinking Super Bowl, but now they'll have to get by without either the rest of the way. Wide receiver Christian Watson was also injured and could easily miss Saturday night's game in Chicago.

Meanwhile, the Bears (10-4) are riding high to lead the NFC North after a 31-3 thrashing of the Browns with Williams redeeming himself against a strong defense. He makes risky throws as evident by his touchdown pass to D.J. Moore being compared to “The Catch” by Joe Montana to Dwight Clark in the 1981 NFC Championship Game, yet Williams' throw came from 30 yards away from the end zone point. He's a rare talent, a fearless passer, but he needs to start this game stronger after he had 11 yards on his first 11 pass attempts in Week 14 against Green Bay. But he played this defense well twice last year as a rookie when it didn't have Parsons, the league leader in pressures, so he has a real advantage at home to rebound here.

Jordan Love rarely throws interceptions but they often look very bad when he does. He was picked twice in Denver, and he was unable to tie the game on his final four drives in the fourth quarter. This game could easily come down to turnovers again. The Packers and Bears are actually tied for second in the league with just 10 giveaways, but the difference is on the other side of the ball. The Bears have forced a league-high 30 turnovers while the Packers have only come up with 13 takeaways. Without Parsons, those splash plays could be even harder to come by going forward.

Sunday | 1:00 PM ET | Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers (+3, O/U 45.5)

Does anyone want to win the NFC South this year? We've been down that road before with the Buccaneers winning the NFC South with an 8-9 record in 2022, Tom Brady's final season. But the Buccaneers behind Baker Mayfield were 5-1 this year, and Mayfield was an MVP candidate with a ton of comeback wins. However, even with the offense getting healthy receivers back, including Mike Evans, things have gone haywire with the Bucs losing 5-of-6 games since the bye week to sit at 7-7.

But the Carolina Panthers have also entered this game at home with a 7-7 record after failing to capitalize on Tampa's blown lead to Atlanta last Thursday. The Panthers were a road favorite against New Orleans, but they blew a 17-10 lead and lost that game on a last-second field goal. Bryce Young has had some huge games this year in upsetting teams like the Packers and Rams, but we'll see how he handles the biggest game of his career here with a home game for the division lead in Week 16.

Dave Canales' Panthers have done a great job of scoring points at home all year, so they'll need to take advantage of Todd Bowles' leaky pass defense right now. But that means Young needs to throw more as he's usually been held under 200 yards this year, and the Panthers prefer to run with Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle. But that's not the greatest idea against a Tampa run defense led by Vita Vea up front. That's why it's all eyes on how Young performs here as the Panthers have to start thinking about his fifth-year contract option and possible extension.

But the Buccaneers are just trying to win another game and they are the road favorite here, winners of the NFC South the last four years. But the vibes are quite bad right now, and even if the game comes down to the fourth quarter, it's hard to say you can trust the Buccaneers over the Panthers in Week 16. But it's also hard to trust any team in the NFC South right now.
