Michigan vs. Nebraska: Preview, Prediction & Best Bets
We have a solid Big Ten showdown this Saturday in Nebraska. The 3-0 Cornhuskers host the 2-1 Wolverines, who are ranked No. 21.
Michigan underperformed in its only road test so far this season, losing 24-13 in Oklahoma after young quarterback Bryce Underwood completed just 9 of 24 passes. Justice Haynes is still a reliable running threat, but the Nebraska defense has been solid against the run, allowing only 4.0 yards per carry.
Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola has become infamous for his hardcore cosplaying of Patrick Mahomes, but he's turning into a legitimate starter with eight touchdowns and zero interceptions this season. Raiola has some solid receivers, and running back Emmett Johnson has already rushed for 326 yards and four touchdowns this season.
This game could come down to a defensive slugfest for coach Matt Rhule. Nebraska is only allowing 8.0 points per game, albeit against measly competition. These teams didn't meet last year, but the Wolverines have lost plenty of talent to the NFL since these teams last met in 2023, a 45-7 win by the Wolverines. Look for Nebraska to embrace the home-field advantage and give it a good effort as a slight underdog.
Cowboys vs. Bears: Preview, Prediction & Best Bets
Maybe one of the most interesting betting lines this week is the Bears being a 1-point home favorite against Dallas, one week after the Cowboys' emotional 40-37 overtime win over the Giants, and Detroit pummeled the Bears by 52 points.
A very interesting subplot to this game is that new Dallas defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus was Chicago's head coach in 2022-24 before he was fired after last Thanksgiving's debacle in Detroit. Eberflus has underwhelmed in coaching the Dallas defense so far, but we should cut him some slack after the shocking trade of Micah Parsons to Green Bay before Week 1. The Cowboys just signed Jadeveon Clowney, so that's at least a veteran edge rusher they can use.
But Dallas will have to play much better after giving up 450 passing yards to Russell Wilson on the road. Caleb Williams is struggling right now, but he's a gunslinger with talented receivers, and Rome Odunze could be the next great young wideout from the 2024 class.
Dallas is a much more competitive team with a healthy Dak Prescott. He's playing well with George Pickens involved and CeeDee Lamb not dropping passes. Prescott almost led an upset win against the Eagles on the road in Week 1, and he got the win last week.
Still, the Dallas defense is hard to trust, and this game has shootout potential. But in a shootout, we trust the longest tenured quarterback in the league over second-year Williams as he struggles to learn Ben Johnson's offense.
