NFL Betting Lines Week 12: Spreads, Storylines & Betting Tips
The NFL has put together another strong Week 12 slate that will lead into a big Thanksgiving week.
The Thursday night game has potential with the Houston Texans (5-5) back in the playoff picture after backup Davis Mills has led a couple of game-winning drives the last two weeks. We're not sure if we'll see Mills or C.J. Stroud (concussion) on Thursday night, but the Houston defense that held Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen to a career-low 30% completion percentage last year should show up either way. We'll see if they can keep James Cook in check and force Allen to beat them through the air.
No international games this Sunday, but we do get a real treat right away at 1:00 PM when the Chiefs (5-5) host the Colts (8-2) as Indianapolis can prove it is legit with a big win in Arrowhead to drop the Chiefs under .500. The teams haven't played since 2022, but that game and the 2019 game that ended 19-13 are two of the strangest losses of Patrick Mahomes' career, so we'll see if the Colts can do it again to a Kansas City franchise it has largely terrorized in big games going back 30 years now.
We'll also possibly see if Aaron Rodgers can assume his “ownership” of the Chicago Bears one last time in a big game between the Steelers (6-4) and Bears (7-3). However, it is unclear if Rodgers will be cleared to play after a slight break in his non-throwing wrist knocked him out of Sunday's win over Cincinnati. If he can't go, it'll be Mason Rudolph against a Chicago team that has already racked up a league-high 22 takeaways on defense.
In the late-afternoon window, the highlight should be the Eagles in Dallas, featuring a rematch from opening night, a 24-20 game won by the Eagles after only a single field goal was scored after halftime. That really kicked off what has been a wild season for the Eagles, but at 8-2 and with the defense rolling, they are inching very close to another NFC East title. That would end an insane streak where no team has won the NFC East in consecutive seasons since the Eagles did it in 2001-04. But we'll see if the Dallas offense can get going at home and create an upset to keep that NFC East dream alive.
On Sunday Night Football, the Rams typically take care of business against the Buccaneers when Sean McVay and Todd Bowles square off as coaches. Baker Mayfield had a lot of comebacks earlier this season, but has been coming up dry in that department lately, as the Buccaneers are on a losing slide here that could easily continue another week, as the Rams look very good.
On Monday Night Football, it's a much better game than expected with the Carolina Panthers alive in the NFC South race thanks to a ton of close wins and the best passing game of Bryce Young's NFL career last week in Atlanta. However, Brock Purdy is back from his turf toe injury, and he has his weapons again, as the 49ers have gotten healthy on the offensive side of the ball. But this has the chance to be the biggest Carolina game since the 2017 playoffs.
