NFL Betting Lines Week 14: Spreads, Storylines & Things to Know

The NFL Week 14 schedule has turned out to be one of the best this season, with seven big division matchups that should give some clarity to those races. We'll also see pivotal games in prime time as the Lions, Cowboys, Texans, Chiefs, Eagles, and Chargers are all jockeying for playoff position, and not everyone is likely to qualify this year.

However, the first game is scheduled for Thursday night, and it's a big one in the NFC for the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys, who had differing results on Thanksgiving. The Lions lost to the Packers and lost wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown to an ankle injury that could keep him out of this critical game, too, as neither team is currently in the playoff picture. Meanwhile, the Cowboys upset the Chiefs and have two No. 1 wideouts in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens with Dak Prescott playing some inspired football for a team that's 3-0 since the bye week. The loser is in bad shape for the playoffs.

On Sunday in the early window, we have some huge AFC divisional matchups for first place. The Steelers and Ravens renew their rivalry, with both teams at 6-6 and both coming off disappointing losses that have fans questioning whether this is the end of the road for longtime coaches Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh. We'll also see the Colts try to end their two-game slide by winning in Jacksonville, a place they haven't won since 2014, as the Jaguars have a real shot to take the AFC South this year behind rookie coach Liam Coen. We will also see Joe Burrow and Josh Allen duel in Buffalo for the first time since the 2023 season, and the Bengals have a history of playing well against the Bills as they try to hold onto their slim playoff hopes in the AFC North.

In the late-afternoon window, all eyes should be on the NFC North as the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears meet in maybe the most important game in this rivalry since the 2013 finale that decided the NFC North. This one could help determine the No. 1 seed, a position currently held by the upstart Bears (9-3) after an impressive upset of the Eagles in Philadelphia on Black Friday. Coach Ben Johnson is doing a great job, and Caleb Williams was a blocked field goal last year from sweeping the Packers. But we'll see what Micah Parsons and company can do after that sweep of the Lions.

On Sunday Night Football, it's arguably the biggest game of Patrick Mahomes' regular-season career, as the Chiefs will have roughly an 11% chance to make the playoffs if they lose at home to the Texans, whom they defeated twice at Arrowhead last December and in the divisional round of the playoffs. The Chiefs have played much better defense at home this year, but the key matchup is Mahomes leading the No. 1 offense in yards per drive against a No. 1 Houston defense that has been fantastic all year. We'll have to see if Mahomes has his starting line intact, as that could make things very difficult if they are out.

Then, on Monday Night Football, it could be a good one between the Chargers and Eagles, with both teams having 8-4 records. Justin Herbert fractured his left hand in Sunday's game, so we'll have to see how that goes for him against the Eagles.
