Betting Tips for NFL Wild Card Weekend
With six NFL Wild Card Weekend games on the schedule, there are many options to choose from for your betting needs. We wanted to highlight some of our favorite picks from three of the games in the AFC and NFC that you could use your bonus bets for.
Game | Spread | Over/Under | Key Betting Tip |
---|---|---|---|
Chargers @ Texans | Chargers -2.5 | 42.5 | Texans team total under 20.5 |
Steelers @ Ravens | Ravens -9.5 | 43.5 | Ravens team total over 26.5 |
Vikings @ Rams | Vikings -1.5 | 47.5 | Stafford under 240.5 passing yards |
Sat. 4:30 pm – Los Angeles Chargers @ Houston Texans (+2.5) O/U 42.5
Just like two years ago, Justin Herbert’s Chargers are a 2.5-point road favorite against the AFC South champion. But do not expect this team to blow a 27-0 lead under coach Jim Harbaugh, who has helped the Chargers to the No. 1 scoring defense and the third-lowest interception rate in a season in NFL history for Herbert.
The Texans have really struggled throughout the year, and they have major injuries at wide receiver that should make it hard for C.J. Stroud to put up a lot of points behind his battered offensive line, which could be missing guard Shaq Mason.
Sat. 8:00 pm – Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens (-9.5) O/U 43.5
Something has to give when the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens meet for the third time since November. Pittsburgh had been getting the best of this AFC North rivalry, but Russell Wilson’s costly turnovers and a solid game from Lamar Jackson in Week 16 helped Baltimore win 34-17.
But both teams are battling some real playoff demons. Mike Tomlin has lost his last five playoff games, and the Steelers allowed their season high in points in each of those games. Meanwhile, the Ravens have scored their season low in points with Lamar Jackson at quarterback in all four of his playoff appearances, the only quarterback in NFL history who can say that.
But let’s give Jackson a chance as this will be his first playoff game with Derrick Henry, who rushed for 1,921 yards this season. Henry had 162 rushing yards in the Week 16 meeting with Pittsburgh, a defense that has been struggling for a month now.
Mon. 8:00 pm – Minnesota Vikings @ Los Angeles Rams (+1.5) O/U 47.5
The Rams will try to make some history by becoming the second team since the merger to sweep a team in the playoffs despite being a home underdog in both games. The 2015 Broncos did that to the New England Patriots, so it’s a rare thing to even have an opportunity to do.
But the Vikings are also in rare air as the first 14-win team to ever have to play on the road on Wild Card Weekend as the No. 5 seed. That’s what happens when you play your worst game of the season in Detroit, a team that swept the Vikings.
Now, the Rams look to do the same after their controversial 30-20 win earlier this season, the game where Sam Darnold’s facemask was pulled on a sack and safety, but no flag was thrown. The Vikings also were caught off guard by Puka Nacua’s availability in that game, but they should be ready for him this time around when these teams clash Monday night.
Minnesota coach Kevin O’Connell was Sean McVay’s offensive coordinator during their 2021 Super Bowl season, so the mentee will have to beat the mentor here.
