Cardinals vs. Cowboys Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Dak Prescott (TRUST)

Prescott completed a season-low 55.6% of his passes (15 of 27) on Monday night for 212 yards (his fewest since Week 1), but he delivered his second-best fantasy outing (23.3 points) of the year on the back of throwing 3 touchdown passes and running in a two-point conversion.

This week, Prescott is at home with a massive team total against an Arizona defense that has been hemorrhaging points to opposing quarterbacks.

The Cardinals allow 18.6 passing points per game (29th), rank 31st in yards allowed per pass attempt (8.5), and surrender a league-high 8.5% touchdown rate.

The Cardinals have allowed six consecutive QB1 scorers.

Prescott has played 18 career home games with an implied team total of 30-plus points.

In those games, he averages 24.3 fantasy points per game with 15 QB1 scoring weeks.

He has thrown multiple passing touchdowns in 16 of those games.

Jacoby Brissett

Brissett had another down week in Week 7, completing 56.2% of his passes (27 of 48) for 5.7 yards per pass attempt.

Brissett has not thrown for 7.0 yards per pass attempt in a game since Week 1.

Only Cam Ward (by decimals at 5.7 Y/A) and Jalon Daniels (5.1 Y/A) have fewer yards per pass attempt than Brissett (5.7 Y/A).

It feels like we are closing on Brissett losing the job, but Carson Beck isn't ready, and Arizona may see no real point in turning to Gardner Minshew as a “kicking the can” move.

Brissett could be shelved, but the Week 8 outlook is solid for matchup-based 2QB gamers and DFS if he stays on the field.

If you are thin at quarterback and were starting Brock Purdy, Tyler Shough, or CJ Stroud, Brissett is in the streaming conversation.

Arizona has a 24-point team total, and they've shown they'll throw a lot when chasing points.

Brissett has 53 dropbacks against Denver on Sunday (13.8 second-half fantasy points).

Two weeks ago, against Detroit, Brissett had 52 dropbacks (17.9 second-half fantasy points).

In Week 3 against the 49ers, Brissett had 53 dropbacks (20.0 second-half fantasy points).

You may not want to watch the first half, but Brissett has volume-based potential to score points in a loss.

He also gets a favorable matchup.

Dallas ranks 25th in passing points allowed (15.6 per game), allowing a 68.2% completion rate (30th), 7.7 yards per pass attempt (27th), and a 5.6% touchdown rate (24th).

They have been better the past two weeks, keeping us honest.

They held Jordan Love to 6.7 yards per pass attempt (though his teammates left many plays on the field) and Tanner McKee to 6.0 Y/A on Monday night (with Philly beaten up).

Brissett was QB10 (24.8 points) in Dallas a year ago, completing 21 of 31 passes for 261 yards and 2 touchdowns and adding a rushing score to his line.
