NFL Head Coach Vacancies
There is currently one NFL head coaching vacancy: New Orleans Saints
Chicago Bears Head Coach Hire
The Bears hired Ben Johnson to be their next head coach on January 20.
Perhaps the most sought after candidate in this year's coaching carousel, Johnson opted to stay in the division and work with 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.
Johnson established himself as one of the best offensive minds in the game by leading a top-five offense all three of his seasons as the offensive coordinator in Detroit.
The Bears have some building blocks on offense including D.J. Moore and 2024 first-round pick Rome Odunze at wide receiver, but the offensive line remains a major area of concern.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports former Saints coach Dennis Allen is the “leading candidate” to serve as Johnson's defensive coordinator.
Matt Eberflus was fired as Bears head coach on November 29 after leading the team to a 14-32 record in three seasons.
Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Hire
The Cowboys hired Brian Schottenheimer to be their next head coach on January 24.
Dallas moved on from Mike McCarthy to just promote Schottenheimer, who joined the organization as a consultant in 2022 before taking over the offensive coordinator job in 2023.
The Cowboys were a top-five offense in 2023, but they struggled last season even with Dak Prescott on the field.
With Prescott healthy over the first nine weeks, the Cowboys were 22nd in yards per play and 17th in points per drive.
Prescott will be back, but the Cowboys have questions throughout their top-heavy roster that need to be addressed this offseason.
Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys agreed to part ways on January 13 after the head coach led the team to an 84-49 record over five seasons.
Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Hire
The Jaguars hired Liam Coen to be their next head coach on January 23.
Coen initially pulled out of the running for the Jaguars job, but Jacksonville firing former GM Trent Baalke opened the door for Coen to reconsider — as well as set up one of the more interesting coach hire sagas we have seen.
Coen began his coaching career in the college ranks before joining the Rams as a positional coach in 2018.
He left the Rams to coordinate Kentucky's offense in 2021, came back to the Rams for one year in 2022, left again for Kentucky in 2023, and landed with the Bucs last year.
He led a top-five offense in Tampa Bay and helped Baker Mayfield to a career season.
He will be tasked with helping Trevor Lawrence turn things around after a disappointing couple of seasons in Jacksonville.
Doug Pederson was fired as Jaguars head coach on January 6 after leading the team to a 22-29 record in three seasons.
Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach Hire
The Raiders hired Pete Carroll to be their next head coach on January 24.
After sitting out one season, Carroll will return to the sidelines for his 19th season as an NFL head coach.
Set to turn 74 in September, Carroll will be the oldest head coach in NFL history.
Carroll led the Seahawks to a 137-89-1 record over 14 seasons before being fired last year, making the playoffs 10 times, winning two NFC Championships, and taking home the Super Bowl in 2013.
Antonio Pierce was fired as Raiders head coach on January 7 after leading the team to a 4-13 record in one season.
New England Patriots Head Coach Hire
The Patriots hired Mike Vrabel to be their next head coach on January 12.
Vrabel ending up with the Patriots appeared to be a fait accompli as soon as Jerod Mayo was fired, and while the Patriots did interview Lions OC Ben Johnson, the entire search felt like something of a show.
Vrabel spent eight seasons with the Patriots as a player, winning three Super Bowls.
He led the Titans to a 54-45 record over six seasons with three playoff appearances including an AFC Championship game in 2019.
With Vrabel on board, the Patriots brought back another familiar face at offensive coordinator.
The Patriots brought back Josh McDaniels to serve as offensive coordinator under Vrabel.
Former Lions defensive line coach Terrell Williams will serve as defensive coordinator.
Jerod Mayo was fired as Patriots head coach on January 5 after leading the team to a 4-13 record in one season.
New Orleans Saints Head Coach Candidates
The Saints interviewed Eagles OC Kellen Moore for the second time during the bye week before the Super Bowl, and all indications are he will be the next head coach of the Saints.
Dennis Allen was fired as Saints head coach on November 4 after leading the team to an 18-25 record in three seasons.
New York Jets Head Coach Hire
The Jets hired Aaron Glenn to be their next head coach on January 22.
The Jets ran an exhaustive coaching search before ending up with one of the top candidates in this year's cycle.
Glenn was drafted No. 12 overall by the Jets back in 1994 and played for the team for eight seasons.
He entered the NFL coaching ranks in 2014, working for the Browns for two years before coaching the defensive backs for the Saints for five seasons.
Glenn then took over the Lions defensive coordinator position in 2021.
The Lions often struggled on defense during his tenure, but their talent on that side of the ball was questionable for most of his run.
He did build a strong run defense over his final two seasons, and the defense finished top 10 in points allowed in 2024.
Robert Saleh was fired as Jets head coach on October 8 after leading the team to a 20-36 record in four seasons.
NFL GM Vacancies
There is currently one NFL general manager vacancy: Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars General Manager Candidates
New coach Liam Coen is expected to be involved in the selection of the next general manager.
Trent Baalke was fired as Jaguars general manager on January 22 after leading the team to a 25-43 record over four seasons.
Las Vegas Raiders General Manager Hire
The Raiders hired John Spytek to be their next general manager on January 22.
A scout for several teams for the early part of his career, Spytek joined the Bucs as the director of player personnel in 2016.
He moved up to vice president of player personnel in 2021 and served as the assistant general manager over the last two seasons.
This is not a surprising move given Tom Brady‘s involvement with the organization.
Spytek played at Michigan with Brady and reportedly played a role in bringing the quarterback to Tampa Bay.
Spytek's first orders of business in Las Vegas will be finding a new head coach and a legitimate starting-caliber quarterback.
Tom Telesco was fired as Raiders general manager on January 9 after leading the team to a 4-13 record in one season.
New York Jets General Manager Hire
The Jets hired Darren Mougey to be their next general manager on January 24.
After a short career in the NFL as a player, Mougey joined the Denver Broncos as a scouting intern in 2012.
He worked his way up from there, serving as the assistant general manager from 2022 to 2025.
Now hired, Mougey and new coach Aaron Glenn have several important decisions to make.
The most notable one is the future of Aaron Rodgers.
Joe Douglas was fired as Jets general manager on November 19 after leading the team to a 30-66 record in six seasons.
Tennessee Titans General Manager Hire
The Titans hired Mike Borgonzi to be their next general manager on January 17.
After a short stay as a tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator in college, Borgonzi joined the Chiefs in 2009.
He worked his way up from an administrator of college scouting position to the assistant general manager, which was his title for the last four years.
Borgonzi inherits a team that spent big in free agency last year but still retains a decent amount of cap space.
More importantly, the Titans own the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, a selection Borgonzi will likely use to find Tennessee's next great hope at quarterback.
Ran Carthon was fired as Titans general manager on January 7 after leading the team to a 9-25 record in two seasons.
