2024 College Football Transfer Portal Tracker

Throughout the offseason, we will update this college football transfer portal tracker with notable player additions and losses for each Power Five college football program, plus some frequently asked questions about the transfer process.

What are the College Football (NCAAF) Transfer Portal Rules?

In order to meet the criteria of the one-time transfer exception, the student-athlete must:

  1. Transfer from a four-year collegiate institution to an NCAA Division I school
  2. Leave their current four-year school academically eligible
  3. Have not transferred previously from another four-year institution
  4. Certify in writing, along with their new head coach, they did not have direct or indirect communication

When is the deadline for the transfer portal?

The college football transfer portal window opened on December 5th, 2022 and closes 45 days later on January 18, 2023. There is also a 15-day period during the Spring, from April 15-30.

Do players have to transfer during the window?

No, the window is for college football players to enter their names into the portal. Once their name is entered, they can transfer schools whenever they choose to.

Alabama Transfer Portal Tracker

Alabama Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • CB Domani Jackson (USC): Jackson started 11 games for USC in 2022 and was frequently beaten downfield, allowing a team-high 13.6 yards per target per Sports Info Solutions. However, he’s a former five-star prospect and Alabama has a significantly stronger track record of developing defensive backs compared to Lincoln Riley’s defensive staff.

Alabama Outgoing Transfers:

  • WR Ja’Corey Brooks (Louisville): Brooks was a starter for most of the 2022 season, but lost playing time in 2023. He has primarily been used as a downfield weapon with 31% of his targets in 2022 coming at least 15 yards downfield.
  • OL Seth McLaughlin (Ohio State): McLaughlin was Alabama’s starting center the last two years, who consistently struggled to get the ball to the quarterback in shotgun formations, and had some costly poor snaps in the Tide’s semifinal matchup against Michigan.

Arkansas Transfer Portal Tracker

Arkansas Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Taylen Green (Boise State): Green started 22 games over the last two seasons and has two years of eligibility remaining. • RB Ja’Quinden Jackson (Utah): Jackson originally committed to Texas as a quarterback, but developed into a powerful downhill runner during his time at Utah.
  • OT Fernando Carmona (San Jose State): Carmona was a two-year starter at left tackle for San Jose State, developing into one of the Mountain West’s top linemen in 2023. He will likely step into the starting left tackle role for Arkansas, after Devon Manuel and Andrew Chamblee provided inconsistent play at the position last season.
  • EDGE Anton Juncaj (Albany): Juncaj generated 17 sacks over the last two seasons and comes from the same program that produced Jared Verse, who was a star at Florida State the last two seasons.
  • CB Doneiko Slaughter (Tennessee): Slaughter spent four years at Tennessee and was forced into a starting role due to injuries late in the 2023 season. Slaughter was frequently picked on, and allow 11 receptions on 14 targets at 10 or more yards downfield, per Sports Info Solutions.

  • QB K.J. Jefferson (UCF): Jefferson was a three-year starter for the Razorbacks, often carrying the offense with his dual-threat ability.
  • RB Raheim Sanders (South Carolina): Sanders spent three years at Arkansas, the last two as the starter, but was limited by both shoulder and knee injuries in 2023.

  • LB Jaheim Thomas (Wisconsin): Thomas was a transfer from Cincinnati who started the first 10 games for Arkansas in 2023, but was benched for the final two contests.

Auburn Outgoing Transfers:

Baylor Transfer Portal Tracker

Baylor Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Dequan Finn (Toledo): Finn spent five years at Toledo, three as a starter, and will add a new dimension to the Bears offense as a dangerous weapon on the move.

Baylor Outgoing Transfers:

  • QB Blake Shapen (Mississippi State): Two-year starter with 23 career starts at Baylor. Production took a step back in 2023, though largely due to a roster devoid of offensive talent. Excluding sacks, Finn averaged 50.3 rushing yards per game. Cincinnati Transfer Portal Tracker

Cincinnati Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Brendan Sorsby (Indiana): Former three-star prospect with just three FBS offers who surprisingly won the starting job at Indiana as a redshirt freshman in 2023. Started seven games for Indiana as redshirt-freshman, and had his top receiver (Cam Camper) available for just one full game. Three years of eligibility remaining.
  • CB Ormanie Arnold (Idaho): The Bearcats lost starting cornerback Justin Harris to the portal, so the Arnold will have an opportunity to compete for a starting job. Arnold will be a redshirt-sophomore in 2024.

  • CB Toriano Pride (Missouri): Former top-50 recruit who saw limited action in a talented Clemson secondary over the last two years, making one start in 2023.
  • DB Andrew Mukuba (Texas): Mukuba was one of Clemson’s most reliable defensive stars in 2023. The three-year starter primarily lined up in coverage in the slot during his junior year.

Colorado Transfer Portal Tracker

Colorado Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • OG Tyler Johnson (Houston): Johnson originally played at Texas, but spent the past two years as a starting guard at Houston. He has been an asset in pass protection, but inconsistent in the run game.
  • TE Chamon Metayer (Cincinnati): Metayer was Cincinnati’s starting tight end and finished third on the team with 23 receptions. He was almost exclusively used as a possession receiver in the passing game, with 70% of his targets coming within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, per Sports Info Solutions. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
  • LB Keaten Wade (Kentucky): Wade was a four-star prospect in the class of 2022. He never earned a starting role at Kentucky, but was used as a pass-rush specialist in 2023 and finished third on the team with 18 pressures.

  • DT Joey Slackman (Penn): Slackman developed into one of the top interior linemen at the FCS level over the last two seasons and will be expected to win a starting role in 2024 for the Gators.
  • CB Trikwese Bridges (Oregon): Bridges was an effective starter for Oregon in 2022 but lost his job due to some incoming transfers and played a reserve role in 2023. Florida lost two starting corners to the portal, so Bridges will compete for a starting job.
  • S DJ Douglas (Tulane): Douglas started his career at Alabama before spending the last two seasons at Tulane. He developed into a ball-hawk while playing both safety roles for Tulane in 2023 and should compete for a starting job with Miguel Mitchell and Jordan Castell, both of whom were inconsistent in starting roles last year.

Florida Outgoing Transfers:

  • RB Trevor Etienne (Georgia): Etienne played in a rotation with Montrell Johnson Jr. over the last two years at Florida. He’s an explosive runner, but also takes too many negative plays. When contacted at or behind the line of scrimmage, he was stuffed for zero or negative yards at the SEC’s second worst rate (55%), per Sports Info Solutions.
  • WR Caleb Douglas (Texas Tech): Douglas started the first five games of the year for Florida in 2023, but was lost to a season-ending leg injury. At the time of his injury, he was second on the team in targets.
  • EDGE Princely Umanmielen (Ole Miss): Umanmielen led Florida in pressures (35) in 2023 with more than double anyone else on the roster. It’s not an unexpected loss because he was a candidate to turn pro, but to lose him within the SEC is tough for the Gators.
  • LB Scooby Williams (Texas A&M): Williams stepped into a starting role for the Gators in 2023, but a concerning 20% missed/broken tackle rate raised doubts about his ability to maintain that role moving forward.
  • CB Jaydon Hill (Texas A&M): Hill spent five years at Florida, the past two as a starter, and lined up almost exclusively in the slot in 2023.
  • CB Jalen Kimber (Louisville): Kimber started on the outside for Florida in 2023 but struggled, allowing a 50% catch rate and 11.8 yards per target, per Sports Info Solutions.

Florida State Transfer Portal Tracker

Per Sports Info Solutions, Travis ranked sixth in the nation in on-target rate at 15 or more yards downfield, while Uiagalelei ranked 82nd.
  • EDGE Marvin Jones Jr. (Georgia): Jones is a former five-star recruit who was unable to crack the starting lineup in two years at Georgia. Despite the talent, he was inconsistent as a pass-rusher, generating a 9.7% pressure rate per Sports Info Solutions.

Florida State Outgoing Transfers:

  • OT Bless Harris (TCU): Harris started five games at left tackle in 2023. He was expected to be the starter in 2022 as well, but was lost for the season due to injury in the opening game.

Georgia Transfer Portal Tracker

Georgia Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Jordan Maiava (UNLV): As a redshirt-freshman, Maiava led UNLV to just its second bowl game in the last 20 years in 2023. He’ll now serve as Carson Beck‘s backup and compete for the starting job in 2025.
  • RB Trevor Etienne (Florida): Etienne played in a rotation over the last two years at Florida, and has two years of eligibility remaining. When contacted at or behind the line of scrimmage, he was stuffed for zero or negative yards at the SEC’s second worst rate (55%), per Sports Info Solutions.
  • WR London Humphreys (Vanderbilt): Humphreys is a tall, outside receiver who proved to be an effective downfield weapon as a true freshman at Vanderbilt.
  • WR Colbie Young (Miami FL): Young was a JUCO transfer in the 2022 class and started 17 games in two years with the Hurricanes. He was regularly used as a downfield weapon, leading Miami with a 10.4-yard average depth of target in 2023.

Georgia Outgoing Transfers:

  • QB Brock Vandagriff (Kentucky): Vandagriff was a four-star recruit and the fourth-ranked quarterback in the 2021 class. He appeared in eight games as Carson Beck’s backup in 2023. His departure likely elevates Gunner Stockton (2022 four-star recruit) to the backup role in 2024.
  • LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson (Kentucky): Dumas-Johnson was a two-year starter at Georgia, before an arm injury ended in 2023 season. Georgia will miss his production on blitzes, as he generated a 25% pressure rate as a pass rusher, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • EDGE Marvin Jones Jr. (Florida State): Jones is a former five-star recruit who was unable to crack the starting lineup in two years at Georgia. Despite the talent, he was inconsistent as a pass-rusher, generating a 9.7% pressure rate per Sports Info Solutions.
  • WR Zeed Haynes (Syracuse): Haynes was a four-star prospect in the class of 2023 and saw action in four games as a true freshman.
  • CB Nyland Green (Purdue): Green was a five-star prospect in the class of 2021 but primarily saw action on special teams at Georgia.

Indiana Transfer Portal Tracker

Indiana Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Kurtis Rourke (Ohio): Known as the Maple Missile, Rourke was a four-year starter at Ohio, taking over for his brother Nathan who started the previous three years. He tore his ACL at the end of 2022, and his production took a step back this past season. In 2022, Rourke had a 69% catchable pass rate on throws 15 or more yards downfield, which dropped to 55% in 2023, per Sports Info Solutions. If Indiana can get him back to his 2022 level of performance, the Hoosiers have a significant upgrade at quarterback.
  • RB Justice Ellison (Wake Forest): Ellison is an explosive weapon who ran for almost 2,000 yards over four years at Wake Forest. He’s not a physical runner, however, so expect new head coach Curt Cignetti to modernize the Indiana offense and create more light boxes. According to Sports Info Solutions, Indiana ball carriers ran into a stacked box on 72% of attempts last year — almost the same rate as Navy’s triple-option (74%).

Indiana Outgoing Transfers:

  • QB Brendan Sorsby (Cincinnati): Went 1-6 in seven games as a starter in 2023 as a redshirt freshman, but had top weapon Cam Camper available for just one full game.

Kentucky Transfer Portal Tracker

Kentucky Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • WR Raymond Cottrell (Texas A&M): Cottrell was a four-star recruit in the 2023 class and will be a redshirt-freshman this upcoming season.
  • WR Ja’Mori Maclin (North Texas): Maclin is a cousin of former Missouri standout Jeremy Maclin and also started his career at Missouri before spending two years at North Texas. He led North Texas in targets in 2023 and was frequently used as a deep threat, with 27% of his targets coming at 20 or more yards downfield per Sports Info Solutions.
  • RB Chip Trayanum (Ohio State): Trayanum transferred from Arizona State to Ohio State to play linebacker but was forced back to running back due to injuries. He’s a physical between-the-tackles runner, which has been the prototype for Kentucky ball carriers in recent years.

Kentucky Outgoing Transfers:

  • LB Keaten Wade (Colorado): Wade was a four-star prospect in the class of 2022. He never earned a starting role at Kentucky, but was used as a pass-rush specialist in 2023 and finished third on the team with 18 pressures.

Louisville Transfer Portal Tracker

Louisville Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Tyler Shough (Texas Tech): Will be a seventh-year senior, having spent three years at Oregon and three at Texas Tech. 19 career starts but has never been able to stay healthy. Struggles against pressure, taking a sack on 29% of dropbacks versus pressure last season, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • RB Don Chaney Jr. (Miami FL): Chaney was four-star recruit in the 2020 class but injuries, including a torn ACL in 2021, derailed his career. He’s at his best running between the tackles, where he averaged 5.1 yards per attempt in 2023, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • WR Ja’Corey Brooks (Alabama): Brooks was a starter for most of the 2022 season, but lost playing time in 2023. He has primarily been used as a downfield weapon with 31% of his targets in 2022 coming at least 15 yards downfield.
  • CB Jalen Kimber (Florida): Kimber started on the outside for Florida in 2023 but struggled, allowing a 50% catch rate and 11.8 yards per target, per Sports Info Solutions.

Louisville Outgoing Transfers:

  • WR Kevin Coleman (Mississippi State): Coleman spent one year at Louisville after transferring from  Jackson State. Louisville will miss his explosive ability —he averaged 10.1 yards after the catch per reception, according to Sports Info Solutions.

LSU Transfer Portal Tracker

LSU Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB AJ Swann (Vanderbilt): Swann started 12 games for Vanderbilt over the last two seasons and has two years of eligibility remaining. Garrett Nussmier is expected to take over for Jayden Daniels, but Swann is not an insignificant addition and will likely be afforded the opportunity to compete for the job.
  • WR Zavion Thomas (Mississippi State): Thomas finished second on Mississippi State in targets as a true sophomore in 2023. His strength was producing on underneath routes, averaging 5.6 yards after catch per reception.

  • CB Duce Chestnut (Syracuse): Chestnut was a transfer from Syracuse last year, got torched in the season opener against Florida State, and struggled to get back on the field.

Maryland Outgoing Transfers:

Miami FL Transfer Portal Tracker

Miami FL Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • DT Marley Cook (Middle Tennessee): Cook spent five years at Middle Tennessee, two as a starter. He’ll compete for a starting job and should have a role in the rotation.
  • DT C.J. Clark (NC State): Clark primarily lined up at nose tackle for the Wolfpack and will likely see early-down snaps in that role, which was occupied by Leonard Taylor, who left early for the NFL

Miami FL Outgoing Transfers:

  • QB Tyler Van Dyke (Wisconsin): Van Dyke was a three-year starter at Miami, who failed to live up to expectations after a breakout redshirt freshman year. Van Dyke’s stalled development coincided with the hiring of Mario Cristobal — just as it did for Justin Herbert after Cristobal was hired at Oregon.
  • RB Don Chaney Jr. (Louisville): Chaney was four-star recruit in the 2020 class but injuries, including a torn ACL in 2021, derailed his career.
  • WR Colbie Young (Georgia): Young was a JUCO transfer in the 2022 class and started 17 games in two years with the Hurricanes. He was regularly used as a downfield weapon, leading Miami with a 10.4-yard average depth of target in 2023.

Michigan State Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Minnesota Transfer Portal Tracker

Minnesota Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Max Brosmer (New Hampshire): Four-year starter at New Hampshire who played in an aggressive pass-heavy scheme under head coach Ricky Santos. Threw for over 3,000 yards in consecutive years — a threshold just one Minnesota quarterback has reached under P.J. Fleck (Tanner Morgan in 2019).
  • RB Trent Howland (Indiana): Minnesota needs physical ball carriers like the 240-pound Howland due to its offensive scheme which invites stacked box. Gopher ball carriers ran into a stacked box on 60% of attempts last year, the 26th highest rate per Sports Info Solutions.

Minnesota Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Mississippi State Transfer Portal Tracker

Mississippi State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Blake Shapen (Baylor): Spent four years at Baylor, making 23 starts. Will likely have an opportunity to compete for the starting job.
  • WR Kevin Coleman (Louisville): Coleman spent one year at Louisville after transferring from  Jackson State. He averaged 10.1 yards after the catch per reception, according to Sports Info Solutions, and should immediately have a role in Jeff Lebby’s offense.
  • WR Kelly Akharaiyi (UTEP): Akharaiyi, a former JUCO transfer, was UTEP’s leading receiver in 2023. He averaged 7.6 yards after the catch per receptions — Lebby appears to be targeting a specific type of weapon for his Mississippi State offense.
  • OL Ethan Miner (North Texas): Miner has three years of starting experience on the interior offensive line at North Texas and Arkansas State. He should help stabilize a unit that was originally built for Leach’s offense, and struggled to transition out of that scheme in 2023.
  • OT Makylan Pounders (Memphis): As a redshirt-sophomore in 2023, Pounders emerged as a reliable left tackle for Memphis. Per Sports Info Solutions, Pounders had just four blown blocks in pass protection last season.
  • OG Jacoby Jackson (Texas Tech): Jackson started 14 games at left and right guard over the last two seasons.
  • LB Stone Blanton (South Carolina): Blanton was a starter for South Carolina in 2023, but struggled with a 19% missed/broken tackle rate per Sports Info Solutions.

Mississippi State Outgoing Transfers:

  • QB Will Rogers (Washington): Rogers was the starter for most of his four years at Mississippi State and thrived in Mike Leach’s Air Raid system, but struggled transitioning into a more pro-style offense in 2023.
  • RB Jo’Quavious Marks (USC): Marks was a four-year starter for the Bulldogs, and was a key member of Leach’s original recruiting class at Mississippi State.
  • WR Zavion Thomas (LSU): Thomas finished second on Mississippi State in targets as a true sophomore in 2023.
  • CB Decamerion Richardson (Ole Miss): Richardson was arguably the Bulldogs best all-around player in 2023. Losing him to the NFL draft was a known concern, but losing him to Ole Miss is a devastating blow. Per Sports Info Solutions, he allowed just seven receptions on 21 targets when targets at 10 or more yards downfield.

Missouri Transfer Portal Tracker

Missouri Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • RB Marcus Carroll (Georgia State): Sixth-year senior Cody Schrader has exhausted his eligibility, so Carroll will compete for the starting job in 2024. Carroll averaged just 1.0 yards per attempt when contacted at or behind the line of scrimmage (ranked 10th in the Sun Belt) per Sports Info Solutions. Schrader led the SEC in that metric at 1.9 yards per attempt, so Carroll will need to prove he can handle the physicality of the SEC.
  • RB Nate Noel (Appalachian State): Noel was App State’s primary starting running back over the last three years and will compete with Carroll for the job at Missouri. Carroll likely has the upper hand, as he was significantly more explosive with 17% of his carries going for 10 or more yards compared to 10% for Noel, while both playing similar competition in the Sun Belt.
  • OL Cayden Green (Oklahoma): Green started five games at left guard as a true freshman in 2023. He has potential to play guard or tackle and likely competes for a job somewhere on the Missouri line in 2024.
  • DT Sterling Webb (New Mexico State): Webb was an effective interior run-stopper for the Aggies last year and should compete for a starting job in 2024. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
  • LB Corey Flagg Jr. (Miami FL): Flagg saw significant action all four years he was at Miami and will likely step in for Ty’Ron Hopper, who is heading to the NFL.
  • CB Toriano Pride (Clemson): Former top-50 recruit who saw limited action in a talented Clemson secondary over the last two years. Two years of eligibility remaining.

Missouri Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

NC State Transfer Portal Tracker

NC State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Grayson McCall (Coastal Carolina): McCall spent five years, four as a starter, at Coastal Carolina. His production regressed in 2023, after Coastal hired former NC State offensive coordinator Tim Beck as their head coach to replace Jamey Chadwell (who took the Liberty job). McCall is not as athletic as Brennan Armstrong, who ran for 573 yards excluding sacks last year, so the offensive game will look a little different in 2024.
  • RB Jordan Waters (NC State): Waters spent five years at Duke, seeing significant action over the last two as Duke’s early-down back. He’s a physical between-the-tackles runner, who likely steps into Delbert Mimms‘ role.
  • OL Zeke Correll (Notre Dame): Correll started 31 games for Notre Dame over the last five seasons, primarily lining up at center. He will replace Dylan McMahon, a four-year started who lined up at center in 2023.

NC State Outgoing Transfers:

  • DT C.J. Clark (NC State): Clark spent four years at NC State, and was a key starter on the defensive line in 2023, primarily lining up at nose tackle. Clark was a key factor in the Wolfpack leading the nation in contact rate at or behind the line of scrimmage.

North Carolina Transfer Portal Tracker

North Carolina Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Max Johnson (Texas A&M): 22 career starts at LSU and Texas A&M. Full-time starter at LSU in 2021, but primarily served as a backup over the last two years at A&M, making eight starts. One year of eligibility remaining.

North Carolina Outgoing Transfers:

  • TE Kamari Morales (Boston College): Morales spent five years with the Tar Heels, seeing some action in the passing game but primarily serving as a blocking tight end.

Notre Dame Transfer Portal Tracker

Notre Dame Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • QB Riley Leonard (Duke): Leonard was a two-year starter at Duke, and has one year of eligibility left. His best asset is his athleticism — he averaged 63 rushing yards per game, excluding sacks last year. However, he struggles throwing downfield.
