According to The Huddle Report, Brendan Donahue and Ryan McCrystal are ranked #1 and #3 as the most accurate NFL mock drafters over the past five years. Donahue and McCrystal both joined Sharp Football Analysis this spring ahead of the 2021 NFL draft.
Donahue’s final 2021 mock draft was the sixth-most accurate this year with a score of 49. The Huddle Report grades mock draft accuracy by awarding one point for every player correctly predicted to go in the first round and two points for an exact player-team match. Donahue had 27 players correctly predicted as first-round picks, which was tied for the second-most in 2021, and had 11 player-team matches.
Donahue’s five-year average of 44.8 is more than two points higher than second-place at 42.6. The gap between Donahue and the second-most accurate mock drafter over the five-year span is the same as the difference between No. 2 and No. 19 on the list.
McCrystal’s final 2021 mock draft had 25 correct first-round players along with eight exact player-team matches for a score of 41. That cemented MyCrystal’s fifth-straight year with a score of 41 or better. McCrystal now ranks #1 in top-100 accuracy the last 5 years with a 4th place finish this year.
Among 53 analysts with a full five-year sample of mocks, McCrystal and Donahue are just two of five with a score of at least 40 in each year. McCrystal’s 42.4 five-year average ranks fifth.
