What were the Jets doing in Week 6?

The Jets had the ball with 1:04 before halftime with 2 timeouts.

They fake a punt, convert the first down, and call a timeout with 1:00 before half.

Then, on first down, presumably trying to kick a field goal with about 20 yards to reach that territory, the Jets call a draw play to Breece Hall and run the ball…and then do not call a timeout.

Why are they calling a run after faking the punt?

Are you actually NOT trying to score?

If that is the case, why risk faking a punt?

But then, on a running clock, they call a pass play that results in a sack, and THEN call a timeout again.

Once more, this is insanity!

If you are not trying to score (as indicated by the first down run), why are you calling a timeout AFTER A SACK ON SECOND DOWN??

So then the Jets risk it again by passing the ball on third and 8, which you would ONLY DO if you were trying to score, because otherwise you can run out the clock with a run play, as there are just 37 seconds left in the half.

It then sets up a fourth and 1 with roughly 30 seconds left from the Jets' 47-yard line.

A team trailing 10-6 might try to convert that play to try and set up a field goal.

But the Jets do not.

OK, fine.

But at the very least, you should be looking to throw a Hail Mary with a couple of seconds left in the half, because you have nothing to lose.

You might catch it for a touchdown, you might draw a penalty, or the half ends.

The likelihood that an incompletion results in a pick-6 is extremely low.

The entire sequence of play calls, beginning with the fake punt at your own 37-yard line with 1:04 left, made zero sense at all.
