  • Teams with the rest edge in Week 2 went 5-0.
  • Washington averaged 3.5 yards per play on offense in Week 2, their fewest in a complete game with Jayden Daniels.
  • 3.1% of Washington's plays have gained 20 or more yards, 30th in the league through two weeks.
  • The Raiders have scored a touchdown on 9.1% of their possessions, ahead of only the Titans (4%).
  • Raiders running backs have failed to gain yardage on 37.1% of their runs, the highest rate in the league. The league rate is 19.3%.

Quarterback

Marcus Mariota: Jayden Daniels is dealing with a knee injury that has his status in jeopardy for Sunday.

We will reevaluate here as we get more information, but I thought it would be more interesting to approach things as if Mariota would start for a week, since there is not as much nuance with Daniels if he is good to go.

Also, with waivers running earlier in the week, laying out things for Mariota could prove to be useful for gamers.

Assuming we do see Mariota start, he would be my preferred pick-up for those who are looking to plug in a weekly streamer with QB1 upside.

He will be a popular DFS play should he draw the start.

We saw Mariota get extended action twice last season, and both times he was a top-10 fantasy scorer.

In Week 7, Mariota came in for Daniels after only 10 snaps and was the QB8 in weekly scoring (19.6 points).

In Week 18, Daniels sat out the second half.

In just one half (55.2% of the snaps), Mariota was the QB6 (26 points).

He threw for 9.1 yards per attempt on 44 attempts last season, completing 77.3% of his passes with 4 touchdowns.

He rushed 18 times for 92 yards and a touchdown.

Both appearances did come on a small sample against arguably the two worst defenses in the NFL last season (Carolina and Dallas).

Still, Mariota averaged more points per dropback (0.90) than Lamar Jackson (0.82).

He is definitely not Jackson, but Mariota is in a system that plays off his mobility while giving him short-area target opportunities.

The Raiders have not been as bad defensively as I expected to open the year, but they are still lagging in passing points allowed (22nd), yards allowed per attempt (23rd), and completion rate (19th).

Geno Smith: Smith was dreadful on Monday night, completing 55.8% of his passes (24 of 43) for 180 yards (4.2 Y/A) with 3 interceptions.

After 16.5 passing points in Week 1 against New England, he had 3.2 passing points on Monday.

Smith has opened the year with QB15 and QB34 scoring weeks, leaving him as a volatile QB2.

Washington has been an aggressive defense to open the year, blitzing 35.4% of the time (6th) and getting a 41.8% pressure rate (8th).

Smith has been one of the most sensitive passers to pressure over his career, something that has impacted him to start this year.

Smith is 9 of 21 (42.9%) for 6.0 yards per attempt with 7 sacks when pressured this season.
