Ravens vs. Cowboys Fantasy Quarterback Preview
Lamar Jackson (TRUST)
Jackson got off to a great start last week, completing 13 of 16 passes (81.3%) for 171 yards (10.7 Y/A) with a touchdown in the first half.
In the second half, Jackson went 8 of 15 (53.3%) for 64 yards (4.3 Y/A) and an interception.
He closed the week as the QB17 (14.8 points).
The Saints generated a ton of pressure in the second half (55.6% of Jackson's dropbacks) after a 26.3% rate in the opening half.
When the Saints pressured Jackson on Sunday, he threw for 1.9 yards per pass attempt, threw an interception, and took 3 sacks.
From a clean pocket on Sunday, Jackson was 16 of 22 (72.7%) for 218 yards (9.9 Y/A) and a touchdown.
There were some awesome scheme designs by Brandon Staley, but also some pretty rough breakdowns on the Baltimore side.
Baltimore's offensive line was a red flag entering the season, and this was the first time it showed up as a problem.
Four different Baltimore offensive linemen allowed multiple pressures, with rookie Vega Ioane allowing 4.
Ronnie Stanley left the game in the second half with a toe injury.
His backup Carson Vinson came in and allowed 2 pressures on 11 pass-blocking snaps.
Early reports suggest Stanley will play in Brazil, but it is something to keep tabs on heading into the weekend.
If the protection holds up, this is a great matchup for Jackson as a front-end QB1.
The positive spin is that Dallas has had next to zero pass rush through two weeks.
The Cowboys are 28th in pressure rate (30.8%) and 29th in sack rate (3%) despite blitzing at a 27.6% rate (16th).
When Dallas has blitzed, they have created pressure only 38.1% of the time (25th).
Without pressure, the Cowboys have allowed a 119.7 rating (26th).
The Cowboys are 26th in passing points allowed (18.7 per game) while facing Jaxson Dart, Jayden Daniels, and Marcus Mariota.
Washington also left a few touchdowns on the field last week.
If Jackson can get Zay Flowers back this week, that is another plus.
Dallas has also struggled early against mobile passers.
Dart ran for 54 yards while Daniels ran for 69 yards in the first half before he left the game.
Jackson only has one designed run through two games but has scrambled for 38 and 34 yards.
Dak Prescott
Prescott bounced back with a great game against Washington, completing 26 of 31 passes (83.9%) for 279 yards (9.0 Y/A) with 4 touchdowns.
He tacked on 26 rushing yards for a few extra points.
This game has plenty of shootout appeal, and the Cowboys have multiple angles where they should be forced to pass.
The Ravens can push them to score, while the Cowboys just haven't been able to run at the start of the year.
As a result, they have leaned heavily on the pass.
Dallas has thrown the ball 12.3% over expectations, the highest rate in the league.
Volume and potential game environment put Prescott in play as a QB1 this week with plenty of upside.
In the second half last week, the Baltimore defense also had issues.
Tyler Shough went 15-for-19 (78.9%) for 150 yards (7.9 Y/A) and a touchdown in the second half in Baltimore.
Prescott faced Jesse Minter‘s defense last year with the Chargers.
In that game, Prescott went 21 for 30 (70%) for 244 yards (8.1 Y/A) and 2 touchdowns (19.2 fantasy points).
