Throughout the offseason we will update this college football transfer portal tracker with notable player additions and losses for each Power Five college football  program, plus some frequently asked questions about the transfer process.

What are the College Football (NCAAF) Transfer Portal Rules?

In order to meet the criteria of the one-time transfer exception, the student-athlete must:

  1. Transfer from a four-year collegiate institution to an NCAA Division I school
  2. Leave their current four-year school academically eligible
  3. Have not transferred previously from another four-year institution
  4. Certify in writing, along with their new head coach, they did not have direct or indirect communication

When is the deadline for the transfer portal?

The college football transfer portal window opened on December 5th, 2022 and closes 45 days later on January 18, 2023. There is also a 15-day period during the Spring, from April 15-30.

Do players have to transfer during the window?

No, the window is for college football players to enter their names into the portal. Once their name is entered, they can transfer schools whenever they choose to.

Alabama Transfer Portal Tracker

Alabama Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • CJ Dippre, tight end (Maryland): Dippre emerged as a reliable weapon in his first year as a starter in 2022. In a crowded receiving corps, he still commanded 37 targets and averaged 8.0 yards per target. He was also a valuable run blocker. Dippre likely replaces Cameron Latu (draft) as Alabama’s starting tight end.

Alabama Outgoing Transfers:

  • Traeshon Holden, wide receiver (Oregon): Holden started the first five games of the 2022 season, but lost playing time down the stretch.
  • JoJo Earle, wide receiver (TCU): Earle was a four-star recruit in 2021. He started five games for Alabama last season but saw just 15 targets.
  • Javion Cohen, offensive line (Miami FL): Cohen started at left guard for the past two seasons. According to Sports Info Solutions, Cohen had a 0.9% blown-block rate in pass protection, the lowest rate on Alabama’s offensive line.

Arizona Transfer Portal Tracker

Arizona Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • No notable transfers

Arizona Outgoing Transfers:

  • Dorian Singer, wide receiver (USC): Singer saw 100 targets, averaging 11.1 yards per target in 2022 at Arizona. The Wildcats will miss his ability to stretch the field, as he led the Pac-12 with 20 receptions at 15 or more yards downfield, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Christian Roland-Wallace, cornerback (USC): Roland-Wallace was a four-year starter and the only reliable corner in the Wildcats secondary in 2022. According to Sports Info Solutions, Roland-Wallace allowed 0.5 yards per coverage snap against FBS opponents, the fourth lowest rate among outside cornerbacks in the Pac-12.

Arkansas Transfer Portal Tracker

Arkansas Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • No notable transfers

Arkansas Outgoing Transfers:

  • Trey Knox, tight end (South Carolina ): Knox played wide receiver early in his career but became Arkansas’s starting tight end in 2022. Although he primarily lined up as an in-line tight end, Knox was still third on the team in routes-run and third in targets.

Auburn Transfer Portal Tracker

Auburn Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Payton Thorne, quarterback (Michigan State): Thorne spent two seasons at the starter at Michigan State and will be expected to beat out Robby Ashford for the job at Auburn. He’s a decent athlete with a good arm, but takes too many risks under pressure. His 5.8% interception rate versus pressure ranked 62nd out of 67 Power Five quarterbacks last year, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Avery Jones, center (East Carolina): Jones is a grad transfer spent two seasons at North Carolina before transferring and starting at center at East Carolina for three years. He is the favorite to start at center for Auburn.
  • Caleb Burton, wide receiver (Ohio State): Burton was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 but did not get on the field for the Buckeyes. Auburn has little proven talent at receiver, which should give Burton a chance to compete for snaps immediately.

Auburn Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Duke Transfer Portal Tracker

Duke Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Al Blades Jr., cornerback (Miami FL): When healthy, Blades was a starter for most of the 2019 and 2020 seasons, but missed the majority of the 2021 season due to injury and lost his starting role in 2022. Blades could take over Datrone Young‘s starting role at cornerback — Young was a graduate transfer added from Iowa State last offseason.

Duke Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Clemson Transfer Portal Tracker

Clemson Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • No notable transfers — it’s the Dabo way!

Clemson Outgoing Transfers:

  • D.J. Uiagalelei, quarterback (Oregon State): The former five-star recruit spent two forgettable years at Clemson’s starter. According to Sports Info Solutions, Uiagalelei generated positive EPA on 49.6% of dropbacks on which he was not pressured, which ranked 79th — wildly short of expectations given Clemson’s recent history of developing quarterbacks.
  • Fred Davis II, cornerback (UCF): Davis was a starter to open the 2022 season but gradually lost playing time.

Colorado Transfer Portal Tracker

Colorado Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Travis Hunter, cornerback (Jackson State): Hunter was the number-one recruit in the 2022 class. Although Hunter was a two-way player at Jackson State, he saw inconsistent action at wide receiver and likely remains a starting cornerback at Colorado.
  • Shedeur Sanders, quarterback (Jackson State): Sanders is following his father to Colorado after two years as the starting quarterback at Jackson State. He was a four-star recruit in the 2021 class. Although Sanders is a good athlete, he primarily served as a pocket passer at Jackson State, with limiting rushing opportunities. Expect him to immediately win the starting job at Colorado.
  • Jimmy Horn Jr., wide receiver (USF): Horn was a three-star recruit in the 2021 class and was USF’s starting slot receiver this past season. Horn averaged 9.1 yards per target, with 58% of his yardage coming after the catch, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Savion Washington, offensive tackle (Kent State): Washington was Kent State’s starting right tackle in 2022. He’s following his head coach Sean Lewis (now Colorado’s offensive coordinator) and his offensive line coach Bill O’ Boyle (same position) to Colorado.

Colorado Outgoing Transfers:

  • Casey Roddick, offensive guard (Colorado): Roddick was one of the few bright spots for Colorado in 2022. As the starting left guard, he committed just nine blown blocks and one holding penalty in 702 snaps, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Brendon Lewis, quarterback (Nevada): Lewis was Colorado’s starter in 2021 and started the season opener in 2022, but was benched during the game. He appeared in one more game before leaving the program in October.

Florida Transfer Portal Tracker

Florida Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • No notable transfers

Florida Outgoing Transfers:

  • Avery Helm, cornerback (TCU): Helm started throughout 2021 and early 2022 in place of the injured Jaydon Hill. When Hill returned, he lost the starting gig despite performing relatively well, allowing just 4.2 yards per target, according to Sports Info Solutions.

Florida State Transfer Portal Tracker

Florida State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Jaheim Bell, tight end (South Carolina): Bell saw significant action over the last two seasons, hauling in 25 receptions on 30 targets in 2022. His 83% catch rate led all SEC tight ends, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Fentrell Cypress, cornerback (Virginia): Cypress started every game for Virginia as an outside corner in 2022, allowing just 4.7 yards per target in coverage, per Sports Info Solutions. Although the Seminoles are not expected to lose much at cornerback, Cypress should provide an upgrade to an inconsistent unit.
  • Jeremiah Byers, offensive tackle (UTEP): Byers was a two-year starter at right tackle for UTEP. He’ll likely take over the starting role after FSU got inconsistent production from Darius Washington and Jazston Turnetine (since transferred) in 2022.
  • Braden Fiske, defensive tackle (Western Michigan): Fiske was a three-year starter at Western Michigan. In 2022, he led all MAC interior pass-rushers in pressure rate (9.6%), according to Sports Info Solutions.
  • Casey Roddick, offensive guard (Colorado): Roddick was one of the few bright spots for Colorado in 2022. As the starting left guard, he committed just nine blown blocks and one holding penalty in 702 snaps, per Sports Info Solutions. He should step into Dillan Gibbons’s role at left guard, as Gibbons leaves for the NFL.
  • Gilber Edmond, edge (South Carolina): Edmond finished second on South Carolina with 22 quarterback pressures last season, though his 8.1% pressure rate only ranked 27th in the SEC. Florida State ranked 40th in pressure rate generated in 2022, per Sports Info Solutions.

Florida State Outgoing Transfers:

  • Sam McCall, cornerback (Texas A&M): McCall was a four-star recruit in 2022 and saw action as a reserve outside cornerback in five games for the Seminoles as a freshman.
  • Treshaun Ward, running back (Kansas State): Ward averaged 6.6 yards per carry as Trey Benson‘s primary backup in 2022. He offered a valuable change of pace to Benson’s more physical style.

Georgia Transfer Portal Tracker

Georgia Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Dominic Lovett, wide receiver (Missouri): Lovett was a four-star recruit in 2021 who had a breakout sophomore year with 846 yards as Missouri’s top weapon in the pass game. Lovett is a dangerous downfield weapon, hauling in 14 of his 28 targets at 15 or more yards downfield last season, according to Sports Info Solutions.

Georgia Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Kansas State Transfer Portal Tracker

Kansas State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Treshaun Ward, running back (Florida State): Ward averaged 6.6 yards per carry on 9.5 attempts per game as a backup at Florida State. He’ll compete with DJ Giddens for carries, though their complementary skill sets (Ward more explosive, Giddens more physical) should allow for both to see action in 2023.

Kansas State Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Kentucky Transfer Portal Tracker

Kentucky Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Devin Leary, quarterback (NC State): Leary made 26 starts over four seasons for the Wolfpack. His 2022 season was ended prematurely due to a torn pectoral muscle. According to Sports Info Solutions, Leary led the ACC with a 70.5% completion rate off play action — a staple of the Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s offense.
  • Ray Davis, running back (Vanderbilt): This is Davis’s third stop after two years at Temple and two at Vanderbilt. Davis struggled running into a stacked box (3.3 yards per carry), but was effective when given opportunities against light boxes (5.6 yards per attempt).

Kentucky Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

LSU Transfer Portal Tracker

LSU Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Denver Harris, cornerback (Texas A&M): Harris was a five-star prospect and a key member of A&M’s top-ranked 2022 recruiting class. However, Harris was suspended twice during his brief time with the Aggies and appeared in just five games. According to Sports Info Solutions, Harris allowed two receptions, including one touchdown, on 93 snaps in coverage.
  • Omar Speights, linebacker (Oregon State): Speights was an All-Pac-12 selection last year as an inside linebacker. He excels in coverage and should see significant action in that role for LSU.
  • JK Johnson, cornerback (Ohio State): Johnson started as a outside cornerback at OSU in 2022 but was a liability throughout the season. He generated a 0.0% ball-hawk rate in coverage, per Sports Info Solutions.

LSU Outgoing Transfers:

  • Jack Bech, wide receiver (TCU): Bech played tight end as a freshman in 2021, but exclusively lined up as a slot receiver in 2022. He saw 23 targets this past season, averaging 8.7 yards per target.

Maryland Transfer Portal Tracker

Maryland Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • No notable transfers

Maryland Outgoing Transfers:

  • CJ Dippre, tight end (Alabama): Dippre emerged as a reliable weapon in his first year as a starter in 2022. In a crowded receiving corps, he still commanded 37 targets and averaged 8.0 yards per target. His contributions as a run blocker will also be missed.

Miami FL Transfer Portal Tracker

Miami FL Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Javion Cohen, offensive line (Alabama): Cohen started at left guard for the past two seasons at Alabama. Mario Cristobal has a strong history of developing offensive linemen and might work with Cohen on a position change. Prior to an  injury, Jalen Rivers was among the best left guards in the ACC with a 0.8% blown-block rate in pass protection and zero holding penalties — Cohen had a 0.9% blown-block rate and four holding penalties, per Sports Info Solutions.

Miami FL Outgoing Transfers:

  • Al Blades Jr., cornerback (Duke): When healthy, Blades was a starter for most of the 2019 and 2020 seasons, but missed the majority of the 2021 season due to injury and lost his starting role in 2022. Blades father was a starter on some great Miami teams in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Michigan Transfer Portal Tracker

Michigan Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • LaDarius Henderson, offensive line (Arizona State): Henderson was a three-year starter at Arizona (two at left guard, one at left tackle). He played in just seven games in 2022 due to a broken hand.
  • Josaiah Stewart, edge (Coastal Carolina): In his first year as a starter in 2022, Stewart generated a 9.7% pressure rate as a stand-up edge-rusher, ranked 17th in the Sun Belt per Sports Info Solutions. Michigan has excelled at developing pass-rushers in recent years, and Stewart will likely see a significant role in 2023.
  • Earnest Hausman, linebacker (Nebraska): Hausman made seven starts for Nebraska as a freshman in 2022. It’s unclear how he factors into Michigan’s plans in 2023, as the Wolverines may return every starter at linebacker if Michael Barrett does not turn pro.

Michigan Outgoing Transfers:

  • Cade McNamara, quarterback (Iowa): McNamara started all 14 games for Michigan in 2021, leading the Wolverines to the playoff. In 2021, he was replaced by J.J. McCarthy after the season opener.
  • Erick All, tight end (Iowa): All missed most of the 2022 season with a back injury, but was a starter on the 2021 playoff team. All averaged 6.4 yards per target during his four years at Michigan.

Michigan State Transfer Portal Tracker

Michigan State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • No notable transfers

Michigan Outgoing Transfers:

  • Payton Thorne, quarterback (Michigan State): Thorne spent two seasons at the starter at Michigan State and will be expected to beat out Robby Ashford for the job at Auburn. Thorn was expected to start if he stayed, but now redshirt junior Noah Kim will likely take over

Missouri Transfer Portal Tracker

Missouri Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Theo Wease, wide receiver (Oklahoma): Wease was a five-star recruit in 2019. He led the Sooners in targets in 2020, but missed the entire 2021 season due to a foot injury. In 2022, he started the first six games before losing playing time down the stretch. Wease should be a deep threat for Missouri — he had an average depth of target 13.1 yards downfield in 2022.

Missouri Outgoing Transfers:

  • Dominic Lovett, wide receiver (Georgia): Lovett was a four-star recruit in 2021 who had a breakout sophomore year with 846 yards as Missouri’s top weapon in the pass game. According to Sports Info Solutions, Lovett caught 50% of his targets at 15 or more yards downfield (14 of 28), while the rest of the team had a 33% catch rate (19 of 58).

NC State Transfer Portal Tracker

NC State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • No notable transfers

NC State Outgoing Transfers:

  • Devin Leary, quarterback (Kentucky): Leary made 26 starts over four seasons for the Wolfpack. His 2022 season was ended prematurely due to a torn pectoral muscle. He ends his NC State career fourth in school history in touchdown passes.

North Carolina Transfer Portal Tracker

North Carolina Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • No notable transfers

North Carolina Outgoing Transfers:

  • Storm Duck, cornerback (Penn State): Duck was a four-year starter at North Carolina, when healthy. Though he’s been productive in the past, Duck was torched in 2022. Per Sports Info Solutions, he allowed a 50% completion rate when targeted at least 10 yards downfield.

Notre Dame Transfer Portal Tracker

Notre Dame Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Sam Hartman, quarterback (Wake Forest): Hartman was a three-year starter in Dave Clawson’s unique offense at Wake Forest. Hartman is known as a downfield passer, primarily due to the deep ball volume in Clawson’s offense. However, according to Sports Info Solutions, Hartman’s catchable pass rate 15 or more yards downfield was just 60.6% — Irish quarterbacks combined for a 73.1% rate.
  • Javontae Jean-Baptiste, defensive end (Notre Dame): Jean-Baptiste spent four seasons at Ohio State, playing in the defensive line rotation. He finished fifth on the team with 18 quarterback pressures in 2022, per Sports Info Solutions.

 Notre Dame Outgoing Transfers:

  • Jacob Lacey, defensive tackle (Oklahoma): Lacey spent four years as a reserve defensive tackle. After four games in 2022, he elected to redshirt and left the program in early October.

Ohio State Transfer Portal Tracker

Ohio State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Davison Igbinosun, cornerback (Ole Miss): Igbinosun was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class and immediately started as a true freshman at Ole Miss. He should compete for a starting job opposite Denzel Burke. Per Sports Info Solutions, Igbinosun generated a ball-hawk rate of 14% when lined up on the outside, which ranked 25th out of 35 qualified SEC cornerbacks.
  • Ja’Had Carter, safety (Syracuse): Carter was a three-year starter at strong safety at Syracuse and should step into a similar role for the Buckeyes, replacing Ronnie Hickman, who entered the draft. Slot corner Tanner McCallister is also turning pro, and Carter has experience in that role as well.

Ohio State Outgoing Transfers:

  • JK Johnson, cornerback (LSU): Johnson started as a outside cornerback in 2022 but was a liability throughout the season. He generated a 0.0% ball-hawk rate in coverage, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Javontae Jean-Baptiste, defensive end (Notre Dame): Jean-Baptiste spent four seasons at Ohio State, playing in the defensive line rotation. He finished fifth on the team with 18 quarterback pressures in 2022, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Caleb Burton, wide receiver (Auburn): Burton was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 but did not get on the field for the Buckeyes.

Oklahoma Transfer Portal Tracker

Oklahoma Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Jacob Lacey, defensive tackle (Notre Dame): Lacey spent four years as a reserve defensive tackle. After four games in 2022, he elected to redshirt and left the program in early October. He primarily provides value against the run, and generated just eight quarterback pressures in 305 pass-rush snaps during his Notre Dame career, per Sports Info Solutions.

Oklahoma Outgoing Transfers:

  • Theo Wease, wide receiver (Missouri): Wease was a five-star recruit in 2019. He led the Sooners in targets in 2020, but missed the entire 2021 season due to a foot injury. In 2022, he started the first six games before losing playing time down the stretch.

Oklahoma State Transfer Portal Tracker

Oklahoma State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Justin Wright, linebacker (Tulsa): Wright spent five seasons at Tulsa and was a three-year starter. He provides value on blitzes, and generated a 20% pressure rate as a pass-rusher, per Sports Info Solutions. However, he needs to clean up an 18% missed-tackle rate, which ranked 34th out of 43 linebackers in the AAC.

Oklahoma State Outgoing Transfers:

  • Spencer Sanders, quarterback (Oklahoma State): Sanders was a four-year starter at Oklahoma State but never elevated his game after some promising early-career performances. The downfield passing game ultimately held him back. Sanders completed a dreadful 31.5% of his passes at 15 or more yards downfield last yea, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Braylin Presley, wide receiver (Tulsa): Presley was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class. He saw some action as a slot receiver as a true freshman. Presley is the younger brother of Oklahoma State receiver Brennan Presley, who remains at the school.
  • Mason Cobb, linebacker (USC): Cobb was a starter in 2022, leading the Cowboys with 101 tackles. However, Cobb also had a concerning 19.8% broken/missed tackles rate, per Sports Info Solutions.

Ole Miss Transfer Portal Tracker

  • Walker Howard, quarterback (LSU): Howard was a four-star recruit in the class of 2022 and entered the transfer portal when Jayden Daniels decided to return to LSU.
  • Spencer Sanders, quarterback (Oklahoma State): Sanders was a four-year starter at Oklahoma State but never elevated his game after some promising early-career performances. The downfield passing game is Sanders’ weakness — he completed a dreadful 31.5% of his passes at 15 or more yards downfield last year — but the deep ball does not play a huge role in Lane Kiffin’s offense.

Ole Miss Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Oregon Transfer Portal Tracker

Oregon Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Traeshon Holden, wide receiver (Alabama): Holden started the first five games of the season, but lost playing down the stretch in 2022. He was regularly used to stretch the field at Alabama, with 23 of his 37 targets coming at least 10 yards downfield.
  • Jordan Burch, edge (South Carolina): Burch was South Carolina’s leading pass-rusher, finishing fourth in the SEC with 37 pressures, per Sports Info Solutions. Oregon finished fifth in the Pac-12 in pressure rate, so Burch could elevate this unit.

Oregon Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Oregon State Transfer Portal Tracker

Oregon State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • D.J. Uiagalelei, quarterback (Clemson): The former five-star recruit spent two forgettable years at Clemson’s starter. According to Sports Info Solutions, Uiagalelei generated positive EPA on 49.6% of dropbacks on which he was not pressured, which ranked 79th. Oregon State’s Ben Gulbranson ranked 25th (55.6%).

Oregon State Outgoing Transfers:

  • Omar Speights, linebacker (Oregon State): Speights was an All-Pac-12 selection last year as Oregon State’s leader in tackles. His presence in coverage will also be missed — per Sports Info Solutions, he allowed just seven receptions on 364 snaps in coverage last year.

Penn State Transfer Portal Tracker

Penn State Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Storm Duck, cornerback (North Carolina): Duck was a four-year starter at North Carolina, when healthy. Though he’s been productive in the past, Duck was torched in 2022. Per Sports Info Solutions, he allowed a 50% completion rate when targeted at least 10 yards downfield. Penn State will be hoping he returns to his pre-injury form, when he allowed a 30.4% completion rate at that distance as a freshman 2019.

Penn State Outgoing Transfers:

  • No notable transfers

Purdue Transfer Portal Tracker

Purdue Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Hudson Card, quarterback (Texas): Card started five games in his career at Texas and will be expected to win the starting job at Purdue. He’ll be learning a new offense at Purdue, as head coach Ryan Walters has hired Graham Harrell to run the Air Raid offense.

Purdue Outgoing Transfers:

  • Jack Sullivan, edge (USC): Sullivan was part of the defensive line rotation for the past four seasons at Purdue, and the team’s leading pass-rusher in 2022. Even with Sullivan, Purdue ranked 13th in the Big Ten in pressure rate, so this unit will be in full rebuilding mode in 2023.

South Carolina Transfer Portal Tracker

South Carolina Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Trey Knox, tight end (Arkansas): Knox played wide receiver early in his career but became Arkansas’s starting tight end in 2022. His versatility should allow him to fill Jaheim Bell’s role, who also played a diverse role in the South Carolina offense.

South Carolina Outgoing Transfers:

  • Jaheim Bell, tight end (Florida State): Bell saw significant action over the last two seasons, hauling in 25 receptions on 30 targets in 2022. His 83% catch rate led all SEC tight ends, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Jordan Burch, edge (Oregon): Burch was South Carolina’s leading pass-rusher, finishing fourth in the SEC with 37 pressures, per Sports Info Solutions. He rarely came off the field, averaging 56 snaps per game.
  • Gilber Edmond, edge (South Carolina): Edmond finished second on South Carolina with 22 quarterback pressures last season, though his 8.1% pressure rate only ranked 27th in the SEC.
  • Marshawn Lloyd, running back (USC): Lloyd led the Gamecocks in rushing despite missing some time due to injury. South Carolina will likely miss his physical running style.

TCU Transfer Portal Tracker

TCU Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • JoJo Earle, wide receiver (Alabama): Earle was a four-star recruit in the class of 2021, who started five games last season. TCU is expected to lose its top three receivers to the NFL (Quentin Johnson, Taye Barber and Derius Davis), so Earle should see immediate action.
  • Avery Helm, cornerback (Florida): Helm started throughout 2021 and early 2022 in place of the injured Jaydon Hill. When Hill returned, he lost the starting gig despite performing relatively well, allowing just 4.2 yards per target, according to Sports Info Solutions.
  • Jack Bech, wide receiver (LSU): Bech played tight end as a freshman in 2021, but exclusively lined up as a slot receiver in 2022. TCU’s tight ends have no almost zero role in Sonny Dyke’s passing game, so Bech likely remains in a receiver role for the Frogs.

Texas Incoming Transfers Commits:

Texas Outgoing Transfers:

  • Hudson Card, quarterback (Purdue): Card started five games in his Texas career but was in danger of falling to third-string behind Quinn Ewers and incoming freshman Arch Manning

Texas A&M Transfer Portal Tracker

Texas A&M Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Sam McCall, cornerback (Florida State): McCall was a four-star recruit in 2022 and saw action as a reserve outside cornerback in five games for the Seminoles as a freshman. He’ll compete for immediate playing time, but the Aggies appear to have a crowded secondary.
  • Tony Grimes, cornerback (North Carolina): Grimes as the most productive corner in a dreadful Tar Heels secondary in 2022. Per Sports Info Solutions, he allowed a strong 39.1% completion rate when targeted at least 10 yards downfield.

Texas A&M Outgoing Transfers:

  • Denver Harris, cornerback (LSU): Harris was a five-star prospect and a key member of A&M’s top-ranked 2022 recruiting class. However, Harris was suspended twice during his brief time with the Aggies and appeared in just five games.
  • Anthony Lucas, defensive line (USC): Lucas was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class. He appeared in six games for the Aggies, generating just three quarterback pressures and a disappointing 4.1% pressure rate, per Sports Info Solutions.

USC Transfer Portal Tracker

USC Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Dorian Singer, wide receiver (Arizona): Singer will likely step into Jordan Addison’s role in the USC offense. Singer led all Pac-12 receivers in receptions at 15 or more yards downfield in 2022.
  • Christian Roland-Wallace, cornerback (Arizona): Roland-Wallace was a four-year starter at Arizona. In 2022, he allowed 0.5 yards per coverage snap against FBS opponents, the fourth lowest rate among outsider cornerbacks in the Pac-12, per Sports Info Solutions. He’ll likely take Mekhi Blackmon’s place as a starter in the secondary.
  • Anthony Lucas, defensive line (Texas A&M): Lucas was a four-star recruit in Texas A&M’s much-hyped 2022 class. He appeared in six games for the Aggies, generating just three quarterback pressures and a disappointing 4.1% pressure rate, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Marshawn Lloyd, running back (South Carolina): Lloyd led the Gamecocks in rushing despite missing some time due to injury. He’s a downhill runner who picked up 75% of his yardage after contact in 2022, per Sports Info Solutions.
  • Jack Sullivan, edge (Purdue): Sullivan was part of the defensive line rotation for the past four seasons at Purdue, and the team leader in pressures in 2022. Sullivan ranked 22nd in the Big Ten in pressure rate (8.7%).
  • Mason Cobb, linebacker (Oklahoma State): Cobb led the Cowboys 101 tackles in 2022. However, Cobb also had a concerning 19.8% broken/missed tackles rate, per Sports Info Solutions. USC had the worst broken/missed tackle rate in the Pac-12 (15.7%), so time will tell if Cobb is actually an upgrade for this defense.

Virginia Tech Transfer Portal Tracker

Virginia Tech Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Kyron Drones, quarterback (Baylor): Drones was a four-star recruit in the 2021 class. The Hokies added Marshall transfer Grant Wells last offseason, but Wells struggled — he threw an interception or took a sack on 10% of his dropbacks — and Drones will likely compete for the starting job in 2023.

Wake Forest Outgoing Transfers:

  • Sam Hartman, quarterback (Notre Dame): Hartman was a three-year starter at Wake Forest and one of the most prolific passers in school history. The loss of Hartman is likely a sign of the difficulty Wake will have keeping premier players in the NIL era.

Wisconsin Transfer Portal Tracker

Wisconsin Incoming Transfers Commits:

  • Tanner Mordecai, quarterback (SMU): Mordecai spent three years as a backup at Oklahoma before transferring and starting for two seasons at SMU. The downfield passing attack was a big part of Mordecai’s game at SMU, and he will be a significant upgrade over Graham Mertz in that area. Per Sports Info Solutions, Mordecai ranked 20th in catchable pass rate on throws 15 or more yards downfield — Mertz ranked 85th.
  • Nick Evers, quarterback (Oklahoma): Evers was a four-star prospect in the class of 2022. He appeared in just one game for the Sooners. Wisconsin’s inability to develop quarterbacks has held the program back for years, but Luke Fickell’s staff recently turned Desmond Ridder into a draftable prospect at Cincinnati. The last Wisconsin quarterback to be drafted was Russell Wilson in 2012.
