DeAndre Hopkins was a hot name in trade rumors all offseason, but he posted a video on Instagram shortly after the draft that all but confirmed he will remain in Arizona for another season.
That might not be the best outcome for the Cardinals.
Hopkins is set to count $30.75 million against the cap this season. No. 2 receiver Marquise Brown carries a $13.4 million cap hit.
As Warren Sharp notes, the Cardinals are scheduled to spend the most cap dollars on their receiver room this season.

2. Broncos – $43.7M
3. Raiders – $43.4M

With Kyler Murray likely to miss a large chunk of the season and the Cardinals in full rebuild mode, spending that much at receiver does not make a ton of sense, but Arizona could be stuck with an expensive wide receiver room for another season.

The cost of Denver’s receiver room helps explain why Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy have shown up in trade rumors this offseason. Things are not going to get any better when Jeudy’s fifth-year option kicks in next year. Sutton, Jeudy, and Tim Patrick are currently scheduled to account for $43.3 million of Denver’s cap space in 2024.
The Packers’ youth movement at receiver has led to Green Bay spending the least amount of cap space on receivers in the league. Christian Watson ($2.1 million) and Romeo Doubs ($1 million) account for the biggest current cap hits, and 2023 second-round pick Jayden Reed should have a hit around Doubs’ once he signs his rookie deal.
