We’ve reached the end. Just one game remains in the 2023 NFL season, and there is little surprise two of the healthiest teams will be competing for the Lombardi Trophy.

– All Pro guard Joe Thuney was inactive against Baltimore due to a pectoral injury and he will be inactive on Sunday evening after being moved to the IR on Saturday.

Thuney was Pro Football Focus’s highest-graded pass blocking guard in 2023, allowing just two sacks on 809 pass-blocking snaps.

In the AFC title game, Nick Allegretti started at left guard and allowed a team-high four pressures and one sack. However, he was still the team’s highest-graded pass blocker on PFF.

Allegretti actually started at left guard for the Chiefs in Super Bowl 55, allowing seven total pressures in the loss to Tampa Bay.

Jerick McKinnon was activated from the IR on Saturday and is officially questionable for Super Bowl Sunday. He hasn’t played since injuring his groin in Week 15.

The backup running back did have 25 catches for the Chiefs prior to the injury and could be a factor in the passing game if he’s active.

Willie Gay was a late scratch in the AFC title game due to his neck injury.

Gay originally suffered the injury against Buffalo in the Divisional Round and was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday last week before sitting out Friday’s practice.

However, he will be active for the Super Bowl after full participation in practice on Thursday and Friday.

Kadarius Toney hasn’t played since Week 15 due to ankle and hip injuries, but Toney claimed the injuries were not true in an Instagram Live broadcast after being ruled out on Sunday.

This isn’t the first time Toney has claimed his health has been falsified. He made similar claims when he was with the New York Giants shortly before being traded to Kansas City.

According to the Chiefs, Toney was also held out of the game due to personal reasons following the birth of his daughter on Saturday.

Andy Reid refuted Toney’s claims last week, and the team expects him to be on the practice field when they reconvene on Thursday. Toney was not listed on any injury reports this week, but there are serious doubts he will be active on Sunday.

Charles Omenihu suffered a torn ACL in the AFC Championship Game and won’t get to face his former team in the Super Bowl. He finished third on the Chiefs in sacks despite serving a six-game suspension to start the season.

George Karlaftis and Mike Danna combined for nine quarterback pressures in the win over the Ravens.

George Kittle emerged from the NFC Championship Game with a toe injury, but the 49ers consider him day-to-day at this point. He will be active after being limited in just one practice last week.

2023 was a bounce-back year for Kittle, who played in 16 games for the first time since 2018 and topped 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2019.

Ambry Thomas is also considered day-to-day after picking up an ankle injury in the NFC Championship Game. Thomas was ruled out after playing 37 snaps and was replaced by Deommodore Lenoir.

Just like Kittle, Thomas will be active thanks to the two week recovery time.

– There seemed to be some concern that Christian McCaffrey could be injured after the big hit he took on his final carry of Sunday’s win, but he’s considered healthy by the team and isn’t dealing with a head or shoulder injury.

Despite the early exit, McCaffrey still played 60 of 66 snaps against the Lions and scored a pair of touchdowns.
