Daniel Jones is back after leaving last week’s win early due to an ankle injury. However, Tyrod Taylor will be inactive after suffering a concussion.

With Taylor out, Davis Webb will be elevated from the practice squad to backup Jones. The 2017 third-round pick has never thrown a pass in the NFL, but has been involved in over 55 transactions. So that’s something.

Kadarius Toney, Wan’Dale Robinson and Kenny Golladay will all be absent on Sunday morning.

That leaves David Sills V and Richie James as the top receiving options for the Giants against the Packers.

It’s been a tough year for last year’s prized additions. Toney has been held without a catch in two games and Golladay has just two catches on six targets in four games this season.

Alexander will slide back into the starting lineup and Rasul Douglas will kick back into the slot.

Adrian Amos is questionable after spending time in concussion protocol this week. If he’s out on Sunday, special teams ace Rudy Ford could see some defensive snaps.

Ford played 44 snaps last week against the Patriots, earning a 78.9 defensive grade from Pro Football Focus for his efforts.

– The Steelers got some good news on Friday with Minkah Fitzpatrick shedding his injury designations with full participation in practice. However, the rest of the starting secondary is still hurting.

Fitzpatrick’s fellow starting safety Terrell Edmunds is questionable and was replaced by Tre Norwood last week after he went down with a concussion. Norwood had a lot of playing time as a rookie, mostly as a slot corner.

As for starting cornerbacks, Ahkello Witherspoon is out and Cameron Sutton is questionable. Levi Wallace is healthy again and should slide into Witherspoon’s spot. Wallace started last week and allowed three catches for 31 yards on six targets.

James Pierre could also be pressed into action should Sutton sit. The three-year vet made four starts last season and forced three fumbles.

That leaves Damar Hamlin and Jaquan Johnson to start on the back end of their defense. Hamlin notched half a sack in Week 3 and followed up with eight tackles last week.

Johnson got his second-career start two weeks ago for Poyer against the Dolphins and allowed four completions for 75 yards and a touchdown on four targets.

– Offensively, the Bills will rely on Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis to carry the passing game. Rookie Khalil Shakir got his first two catches last week in the win over Baltimore and has 40 snaps played over the past two weeks.

Tommy Sweeney and Quintin Morris will split time at tight end with Dawson Knox expected to be inactive. Morris has three catches this year and Sweeney will factor in blocking situations.

– The Chargers signed Taylor Bertolet to their practice squad this week as insurance for Dustin Hopkins who is questionable with a groin injury that popped up in practice this week.

The Texas A&M product has bounced around five different practice squads since 2016, but has never kicked in a game. He made 22 of his 31 field goal attempts as an Aggie in 2015 including a career-long 55 yarder.

Keenan Allen will be inactive for the fourth-straight game. Mike Williams has carried the receiving corps, leading the Chargers with 258 yards and 31 targets. DeAndre Carter could see more targets on Sunday, especially if Josh Palmer is inactive as well.

Jason Moore Jr. is the only other healthy Charger receiver, but he has played just four snaps this season and has five catches in four seasons with the team.

Myles Garrett is expected to play on Sunday after missing just one game due to his car accident last week.

His return is a huge factor going against a Chargers offense that ranks 23rd in the NFL in pass-block win rate. Jadeveon Clowney is still questionable after missing two weeks with an ankle injury.

Alex Wright has started the last two games on the edge and has failed to make an impact as a pass rusher, generating just four pressures and zero hits in 82 snaps.

– With Brevin Jordan out again, OJ Howard could see a lot of action as the Texans’ top tight end.

Last week, Howard played 43 snaps and earned five targets on 26 routes. With slot receiver Chris Moore also ruled out, that target share could go even higher.

The Texans could also feature Brandin Cooks in the slot more this week and use Nico Collins and Phillip Dorsett on the outside against the Jaguars secondary.

Despite missing last week, Jones is still second on the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards.

Adam Gotsis should get his first start of the season with Folorunso Fatukasi ruled out due to a quad injury.

Gotsis earned a sack and another quarterback pressure last week in 18 pass rush snaps against Jalen Hurts.

David Montgomery is trending in the right direction after limited participation in practice on Thursday and Friday.

The Bears turned to Khalil Herbert last week and it could be a committee situation against the Vikings who have held Montgomery to 3.9 yards per carry in his career. Herbert has 39 carries for 234 yards since Montgomery went down.

Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Jones split time last week with Jaylon Johnson out and that could be the strategy this week going against Justin Jefferson and the Vikings receiving corps.

The duo allowed two catches for 20 yards on four targets against the Giants last week.

He wore a harness last week and had 20 carries for 76 yards against the Saints, however he split the receiving duties with Alexander Mattison, running 20 routes to Mattison’s 15. It will be interesting to see if a healthier shoulder means a bigger role in the passing game.

Opposing offenses have targeted running backs just 19 times against the Bears this season, second lowest in the NFL.

Taylor has managed seven pressures and one sack in 96 pass rushing snaps this season.

– The good news in Seattle is rookie Kenneth Walker III is expected to play despite carrying a questionable designation. He played a career-high 25 snaps last week, carrying the ball eight times for 29 yards.

Unfortunately for Walker, Rashaad Penny is averaging 6.0 yards per carry this season and is firmly entrenched atop the Seahawks depth chart.

– Five different offensive starters carry injury designations into the weekend, including Jameis Winston who has already been ruled out by Dennis Allen.

That means it will be Andy Dalton under center for the second-straight week following the Saints’ London loss last Sunday.

Dalton completed 71 percent of his passes last week for 236 yards and a touchdown, averaging 8.4 yards per attempt.

– The Saints’ offensive weapons remain banged up with Michael Thomas already ruled out and Alvin Kamara and Jarvis Landry listed as questionable.

Kamara sat out last week and Mark Ingram split carries with Latavius Murray. However, Murray is now in Denver after being signed off the Saints’ practice squad.

Dwayne Washington is the other running back on the roster, but has never earned more than eight carries in a season since joining the Saints in 2019.

Even if Landry does suit up, he’s been a complete nonfactor for the Saints offense since Week 1, catching eight passes for 54 yards in the last three games.

– The Lions have the NFL’s top-ranked offense through four weeks, but they are really banged up heading into New England before their bye week. D’Andre Swift, DJ Chark and Quintez Cephus have already been ruled out.

Swift is expected to return after the bye, but for now it’s Jamaal Williams carrying the load in the backfield. Williams leads the NFL in rushing touchdowns this season and ranks ninth in rushing attempts.

At wide receiver, things get even scarier when you consider Amon-Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds are both questionable after being limited participants in Friday’s practice. St. Brown was inactive last week.

Against the Seahawks, Jared Goff leaned heavily on TJ Hockenson. The tight end was targeted 12 times, catching eight passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns.

Bailey Zappe will make his first NFL start after coming in to relieve Brian Hoyer last week. Hoyer is on the IR due to the concussion he suffered against the Packers and Mac Jones is still dealing with his high ankle sprain.

Zappe did throw for over 60 touchdowns last season at Western Kentucky (Go Hilltoppers!), but threw the ball just 15 times on 43 snaps in his first NFL action. For the season, the Patriots offense ranks 25th in the NFL in pass attempts.

Expect another conservative approach even against a Lions defense that has allowed at least 27 points in every game this season.

– The Dolphins ruled Tua Tagovailoa out early this week and will be cautious after his scary concussion last Thursday night. That means it’s Teddy Bridgewater time in South Beach.

Bridgewater averaged 8.4 yards per attempt in relief last week against the Bengals, tossing one touchdown and interception in the loss. One worry could be how the Dolphins deep passing game might suffer with Bridgewater under center.

He was just 4-9 on passes that travelled more than 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage last week, which is stark compared to Tagovailoa completing 30 of his 46 completions that travelled that far.

If Brown isn’t activated, Conor McDermott could play right tackle again with Alijah Vera-Tucker kicking out from guard to man the other tackle spot. Not an ideal scenario when facing the NFL’s second-best pass rush according to pass rush win rate.

Kyle Pitts will be inactive this week, which shouldn’t change the Atlanta offense much if you look at his involvement so far this season. He has just one game with more than two catches or 25 yards and has yet to score a touchdown.

– The loss of Cordarrelle Patterson looms large with Damien Williams still on the IR for at least one more week. Tyler Allgeier and Caleb Huntley each had 10 carries last week with Allgeier busting one for 42  yards and adding 20 yards in the passing game.

The Buccaneers have been the NFL’s best team when it comes to covering running backs in the passing game, they’ve allowed just 48 receiving yards to running backs, nearly half of the next best team.

– The Bucs will be missing Akiem Hicks for the third-straight week on defense. The veteran end is dealing with a foot injury and has been replaced by Rakeem Nunez-Roches.

Nunez-Roches has yet to make an impact, recording just one pressure and one tackle for loss in two games. He hasn’t recorded a sack since 2017.

The good news is David Edwards should return to left guard after missing one game due to a concussion. Edwards has been a proficient run blocker, but he struggled in protection back in Week 1, allowing two sacks and six pressures against the Bills.

– Feels like Tee Higgins has been questionable every week this year, but he has yet to miss a game and has played at least 46 snaps in each of the last four games. At this point, it would be a surprise if he’s inactive based on his history.

– Could Ronnie Stanley finally make his return to the field after sitting out 20 consecutive games? John Harbaugh told reporters this week that he feels good about the status of the All Pro left tackle and his full participation in practice this week is an encouraging sign.

If Stanley is inactive again, Patrick Mekari is healthy again so he can fill in for one more week.

Devin Duvernay is third on the Ravens in targets this season, although he’s far behind Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman in that category. Still, expect Duvernay to get more involved this week with Bateman sidelined with a foot injury.

After Bateman, only Demarcus Robinson has at least 10 targets, with five catches and 41 yards on his stat sheet this year.
