Week 5 of the NFL DFS season has arrived, and it is time to win some big money using stacks.

While fantasy football stacks are becoming more prevalent in redraft leagues, the ability to stack players has always been one of the main strategic plays in daily fantasy.

This weekly article will focus on the best stack plays in a given week for DFS.

While these plays can apply to FanDuel and other daily fantasy sites, this article will focus primarily on DraftKings pricing.

What is stacking in DFS?

A fantasy football stack is when you take two or more players from the same team to double your chances of a big score if that team does well. This is a strategy that is especially useful in games with high over unders.

While you can stack a quarterback with a running back and or a tight end, we’ll be focusing on the best stacks available between a quarterback and his pass catchers

What is most important when stacking in DFS?

What is most important to pay attention to, with or without stacking, is a player's cost and their ultimate output of points.

Ultimately, factoring in the elements of stacking players along with a strong return on investment on players' costs will put you in the best position to cash in this season.

Week 5 NFL DFS Stacks & Picks for DraftKings, FanDuel

Without further ado, here are some of the best DFS stack options for Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season:

QB Justin Fields ($5,600) & WR Garrett Wilson ($6,100)

  • Combined Price: $11,700 – 23.4% of lineup salary

So far in daily fantasy football, a quarterback’s best friend has been the Dallas Cowboys.

Entering Week 5, the Cowboys lead the league in allowing 29.4 points per game to the position, which is 2.7 points more than the next team.

Along with that, they are one of two teams that have allowed more than 20 points to quarterbacks in all four games.

The other team, the Miami Dolphins, played against Justin Fields last week, and the quarterback delivered.

Coming back from a concussion, Fields scored 28.1 fantasy points.

It was the second time in three games that the Jets quarterback passed the 20-point mark.

As expected, the rushing ability remains a fixture in Fields' production.

So far this season, Fields is one of four quarterbacks with at least 3 rushing scores. Adding to that, he is averaging 7.4 yards per rush attempt.

On the receiving end for Fields, the most obvious choice to play would be Garrett Wilson.

Entering this week, Wilson has accounted for 66% of the targets among Jets wide receivers.

Those targets have resulted in 19 points per game and three games with more than 20 points scored.

With the Cowboys' struggles against the quarterback position, it should come as no shock that they have allowed 50 points to wide receivers in three out of the first four games.

QB Justin Herbert ($6,100) & WR Quentin Johnston ($5,700)

  • Combined Price: $11,800 – 23.5% of lineup salary

Entering Week 5, Justin Herbert is one of just two quarterbacks with multiple games of 300 yards passing.

That, along with two games with at least 3 touchdown passes, has the Chargers' signal caller ranked 10th in points scored among quarterbacks.

Mind you, those performances came against defenses that have been allowing 16.4 points per game to quarterbacks.

Transitioning to a more favorable opponent, Herbert will go against a Commanders defense that is allowing 20.2 points per game.

After allowing just 11.1 points to quarterbacks in Week 1, the Commanders have had three straight games with over 20 points allowed.

Along with all of this, after scoring only 14.5 points against the Giants last, Herbert’s price on DraftKings has gone down by $200.

The $6,100 price means the Chargers quarterback needs 18.3 to ensure his 3X goal.

He has surpassed that mark in each of the first three games of the season.

When looking for a pass catcher to pair with Herbert, Keenan Allen does not represent as big a value as one might expect.

Entering this weekend, Allen is only $100 less than Quentin Johnston, who is currently fourth in points scored at his position.

Unlike Johnston, Allen also feels more touchdown-dependent.

After starting the season with a touchdown in each of his first three games, Allen failed to score in Week 4, which plummeted his points scored to 8.7.

Johnston has now had back-to-back games with double-digit targets, and last week in particular, the Chargers pass catcher hauled in 8 of 13 targets for 98 yards and a touchdown.

That performance resulted in 23.8 points, his second game surpassing 20 points this season.

QB Jaxson Dart ($5,300) & WR Darius Slayton ($4,300)

  • Combined Price: $9,600 – 19.2% of lineup salary

Last week, Jaxson Dart was suggested in a stack with Malik Nabers.

While Nabers went down with an unfortunate season-ending injury, Dart held up his end of the fantasy bargain.

Priced at $4,500, Dart needed 13.5 points to score 3X his DraftKings price tag.

The rookie quarterback surpassed that with ease as he scored 19.8 points.

That was against a Chargers team that, up until that point, had allowed the 10th-fewest points to the position.

Dart will now play a Saints defense that is allowing the sixth-most points to the position and is one of six teams that give up 20 or more points to quarterbacks on a per-game basis.

The loss of Nabers provides us the opportunity to spend considerably less on a stack with Dart.

This week, that selection will be the veteran Darius Slayton.

While it was a different quarterback under center, Slayton was productive in the two games than Nabers missed last season.

Slayton was targeted 11 times in both of those games.

In one of those games, the Giants' pass catcher had over 100 yards receiving and scored 29.2 points.

If you look at their combined price of $9,600, this Giants stack needs 28.8 points to score 3X their cost.

If Dart plays better against a lesser opponent, and Slayton produces around his 20.4 points per game in Nabers’ absence from last season, the Giants duo with shatter their 3X goal.

This could be the steal of the weekend.
