  • The Broncos have scored a touchdown on 3-of-33 (9.1%) offensive possessions, 31st in the league.
  • Denver has punted on 48.5% of their possessions, 31st in the league.
  • Just 19.2% of the Denver first and second down plays have resulted in a first down or touchdown, the lowest rate in the league.
  • Russell Wilson is the lowest-rated passer in the red zone (51.6), completing 8-of-18 passes for 46 yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions.
  • 44.8% (13-of-29) of the Las Vegas drives have reached the red zone, the highest rate in the league.
  • The Raiders are averaging just 1.3 sacks plus takeaways per game, the fewest in the league.

Quarterback

Russell Wilson: Wilson has been the QB24 (11.1 points) and the QB28 (9.1 points) the past two weeks. His yards per pass attempt have dropped in each game this season.

Is Wilson just cooked, unlucky, or has there been an adjustment period in his new surroundings that have limited his performance? There are likely truths in all of those that have combined to create this cocktail of underperformance over his first three games with the Broncos.

We have brought it up in this space each week so far, but this offense right now looks exactly like the offense he left in Seattle. Where every third down is a struggle, drives regularly bust three and out, and the best flashes come when Wilson can let loose against man coverage by letting his boundary receivers make a play.

Wilson is first in yards per pass attempt against man coverage (12.2 Y/A), but 28th against zone (6.3 Y/A).

We expected Sunday night to be a struggle, but Wilson did offer a glimmer of hope to close that game out that there can still be good in this offense.

This will be a great week to put that to the test for possibly one last straw for gamers early in the season as the Raiders are allowing 16.9 passing points per game (22nd), a 69.9% completion rate (27th), 7.5 yards per attempt (22nd), and a 4.6% touchdown rate (20th). Every quarterback to face the Raiders so far has finished as the QB8 or better.

While it takes a step of faith to turn to Wilson this week, think about how bad the Titans looked last Monday night compared to this past Sunday.

I mentioned Wilson’s splits versus man and zone. The Raiders play zone 61.6% of the time, 27th in the league.

I would be willing to kick the can one last time on Wilson as a QB1 option, but I totally get any gamers pursuing an option with a safer floor.
