- Seattle has trailed for 19.6% of its offensive snaps, the lowest rate in the league.
- Arizona has trailed for 27.1% of its offensive snaps, the 2nd-lowest rate in the league.
- Seattle has outscored opponents by a league-high 72 points in the first half this season (134-62).
- Arizona has been outscored by 54 points (83-29) in the fourth quarter this season, the worst margin in the league.
- 43.4% of Seattle's sets of downs reach third down, the 6th-best rate in the league.
- 44.6% of Arizona's sets of downs have reached third down under Jacoby Brissett (14th) compared to 54.4% under Kyler Murray (29th).
- Arizona has converted a league-best 56.1% of its third downs (23 of 41) under Brissett.
- Seattle leads the league in the rate of passing plays that gain 10 or more yards (39.3%) and the rate of passing plays that gain 20 or more yards (14.8%).
- The Seahawks are 2nd in the league in success rate on passing plays (51.5%) compared to 25th on rushing plays (38.1%).
Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Sam Darnold: Darnold was on fire on Sunday night, completing 21 of 24 passes for 330 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Darnold was a perfect 16 of 16 at the half with 4 touchdowns.
Last week’s matchup was on the tee for Darnold’s strengths, and he did more than knock it out of the park.
Darnold has four QB1 scoring weeks this season, all of which have been identifiable against teams that have issues defending play-action passes and allowing splash plays.
Darnold is averaging a league-high 14.0 yards per pass attempt and 20.5 yards per completion on play-action passes.
On throws 10 or more yards downfield, Darnold has completed a league-high 67.4% of his passes (the league average is 48.7%) with a 12.4% touchdown rate (the league average is 6.3%).
That is not what this Arizona defense allows.
The Cardinals have allowed a 53.7% completion rate (2nd) and 5.9 yards per pass attempt (4th) on play-action passes.
When these teams played in Week 4, Darnold was 2 of 7 for 22 yards using play action.
Arizona has allowed a 42.6% completion rate (5th) on throws 10 or more yards downfield with a league-low 1% touchdown rate.
Darnold did have success on those passes in the first matchup, completing 7 of 11 throws for 144 yards and a touchdown on passes 10 or more yards downfield.
Arizona did not have Will Johnson in that game.
At the end of the night, Darnold was QB18 (16.1 points) that week.
Darnold has been hot, so I get gamers sticking with him in 1QB formats over heading to stream for him.
A floor-based QB2 is where I prefer to use him this week.
Not only has Arizona kept Darnold out of the QB1 circle, but over the past two weeks, they have held Dak Prescott (6.4 Y/A) and Jordan Love (6.2 Y/A), with both passers as mid-range QB2 scorers.
The only spike they have allowed was to Daniel Jones (22.5 points), who also had a rushing touchdown.
Jacoby Brissett: Brissett has reeled off three straight QB1 scoring weeks since taking over the starter role, throwing multiple touchdowns in each game.
He was the QB7 (20.7 points) against Indianapolis, QB12 (19.8 points) against Green Bay, and QB10 (24.8 points) against Dallas.
We have highlighted this since Brissett took over, but he has allowed Arizona to play under center more, which has opened up more play-action passing and motion.
Brissett has been under center for 46.3% of his dropbacks as the starter, 10th in the league.
Arizona has used play action 38.7% of Brisset’s dropbacks, second in the league over that span.
The Cardinals have used play action on all of his 43 under-center dropbacks.
Brissett has not run as much as Kyler Murray, but he has not been a zero, either.
He has added 19 yards, 26 yards, and 4 yards with a touchdown rushing to his passing totals.
While Brissett has run hot and gotten this offense on schedule, this is a matchup where I also want to tap the brakes a bit and use him as a QB2.
Arizona is a road underdog with a pedestrian team total.
I can see this being a tighter and low-scoring game.
Seattle is sixth in passing points allowed per attempt (0.360), allowing 6.5 Y/A (6th) and a 3.7% touchdown rate (9th).
The Seahawks got Devon Witherspoon back on the field out of the bye after Nick Emmanwori returned in Week 7.
