After a hot start to the season, points quickly diminished in Week 2.

Offenses averaged 24.1 points per game to kick off the season.

That average dropped to 19.7 this past week.

Teams averaged 1.92 points per drive, down from 2.18 in Week 1.

After averaging 5.5 yards per play in Week 1, teams averaged 5.2 yards per play in Week 2.

Teams ran for 3.9 yards per rush after 4.4 in Week 1.

Red-zone efficiency went from a 68% touchdown rate down to 54.6%.

That led to offenses scoring a touchdown on 20.4% of drives, down from 25.5% in Week 1.

Week 2 had a ton of injuries.

Nico Collins, Zay Flowers, and Puka Nacua did not dress.

Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, Jaxson Dart, and Saquon Barkley were headliners, while D.J. Moore, Mike Evans, J.K. Dobbins, Alec Pierce, Jadarian Price, and Jayden Reed also left games with injuries.

A few stars who let down in Week 1, such as Ja'Marr Chase, DeVonta Smith, James Cook, Christian McCaffrey, and Jaylen Waddle, delivered spike weeks in Week 2.

Colston Loveland, Justin Herbert, Drake London, and Emeka Egbuka continued slow starts.

That's what this article has always been about.

Keeping things in context and adjusting for what is happening.

We still have 16 weeks to go, so let's buckle in.

We are still working with small samples as part of a small sample.

For the most part, early on, we are still focusing on initial usage notes to understand what's working and diagnose where players met or exceeded expectations.

If you have been following this post for the past few seasons, tangible information builds up, and these previews keep growing.

This article will be updated throughout the week to reflect major news or injury implications.

I encourage you to use the game-by-game tables and data points here, along with the player rankings available every Wednesday.

Enjoy the games!
