Cardinals vs. Seahawks Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Drew Lock

Lock will make the start on Sunday with Sam Darnold ruled out with a quad injury.

Lock started against Arizona back in Week 2, completing 19 of 26 passes (73.1%) for 235 yards (9/0 Y/A) with 3 touchdowns.

Seattle is at home with a lofty team total, so Lock is back in play as a matchup-based QB2 with streaming appeal in 1QB formats if you are bullish on him repeating his Week 2 performance.

Arizona has allowed a QB1 scorer in seven straight games.

The Cardinals have played better pass defense of late, however, against a decent schedule of quarterbacks.

They held Matthew Stafford to 222 yards and 6.7 yards per pass attempt.

Bo Nix threw for 222 yards and 7.7 yards per pass attempt with 1 touchdown.

Dak Prescott threw for 195 passing yards and 6.7 yards per pass attempt with 1 touchdown.

Nix and Prescott each had rushing touchdowns to elevate their fantasy games.

After allowing 20.1 passing points per game through five weeks, the Cardinals have allowed 13.9 passing points per game over the past three weeks.

That said, this is still a good top-down matchup.

Arizona is 26th in pressure rate (26th).

The Cardinals have struggled to defend play-action passing this season, allowing a 71.6% completion rate (28th), 8.9 Y/A (28th), and a 6% touchdown rate (23rd).

Lock can be efficient here, but pass volume could get capped.

In Week 2, the Seahawks had 40 runs to 27 dropbacks.

Gardner Minshew

Minshew will make his first start with Arizona after coming in for Jacoby Brissett last week and leading a furious come-from-behind win in Dallas.

In the fourth quarter and overtime on Sunday, Minshew scored 19.2 fantasy points, completing 16 of 22 passes (72.7%) for 181 yards (8.2 Y/A) and 3 touchdowns.

While that was another piece of Minshew Mania lore, we aren't going to chase that production on the road in Seattle.

He is still a low-end QB2 here.

Minshew has popped up for fun moments in a Jameis Winston fashion before, but it is always fleeting.

Seattle was more mortal last week against a hot Chicago offense, but Caleb Williams was still QB17 (14 points).

The Seahawks allow 9.5 passing points per game (2nd), a league-low 5.5 yards per pass attempt, and a league-low 8.6 yards per completion.

They have allowed 1 or fewer passing touchdowns in six of eight games.
