Raiders vs. 49ers Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Brock Purdy (TRUST)

Purdy comes out of the bye completing 69.2% of his passes (3rd) for 8.3 yards per pass attempt (4th), 12.0 yards per completion (6th), and a 7.1% touchdown rate (3rd).

He is second in passing points per dropback (0.53).

We will follow the status of the San Francisco wide receiver room this week to ensure that they get a few bodies back, but as long as they do, Purdy is in a tremendous spot out of the bye.

The Raiders have allowed 30-plus points in five straight games.

They are allowing 7.9 yards per pass attempt (28th), a 7.1% touchdown rate (30th), and have allowed multiple passing touchdowns in six straight games.

Purdy has faced the two teams below them in touchdown rate allowed (Arizona and Miami), scoring 28.5 and 31.3 fantasy points in those games.

Kirk Cousins

Cousins just keeps on producing fantasy points.

After closing last week as the QB2 (28.2 points), Cousins has been a QB1 scorer in six of the past seven games.

He has thrown multiple touchdowns in seven of eight games this season.

Cousins took advantage of a good matchup last week, posting season highs in completion rate (73.1%) and yards per pass attempt (9.5) against the Jets.

Cousins had been getting by on late-game production against tougher opponents before Sunday, which is on the table here.

San Francisco is not a strong top-down matchup given how they want to defend vertical passing and take away the middle of the field.

The 49ers allow 6.3 yards per pass attempt (6th) while facing a league-low 5.9 air yards per pass attempt.

Opponents are throwing between the numbers at a league-low 28.6% rate against the 49ers.

On throws 10 or more yards downfield, the 49ers have allowed a 40.4% completion rate (2nd).

Cousins is throwing the ball 10 or more yards downfield on 37.7% of his passes (9th), averaging 8.1 air yards per throw (8th), and throwing between the numbers on 55% of his throws (9th).

This is a contrast of styles.

The 49ers could be getting Nick Bosa and Upton Stout back on the defensive side this week.

If Cousins is good in this game, he pushes it into an excellent game environment.

If it turns into a tough spot for Cousins given the matchup and his lower-end road total, he has scored late-game points, and the 49ers allow late-game points.

Cousins is second in the league in fourth-quarter fantasy points (56.8).

As long as Cousins is in the game, he can chase points ere.

We still want to insulate the potential of Fernando Mendoza entering any game that can be lopsided, but you can make the case for Cousins continuing to get there in cumulative production as a volume-based QB1/QB2.

The 49ers have allowed three QB1 scoring weeks this season.

Two have come at home, allowing late-game points to Jacoby Brissett (14.6 fourth-quarter points) and Jayden Daniels (10.2 fourth-quarter points).
