Rams vs. Commanders Fantasy Quarterback Preview

Matthew Stafford

Stafford was 17 of 25 (68%) for 157 yards (6.3 Y/A) with 1 touchdown and 1 interception on Sunday.

We have seen the Rams calibrate their offense for more ball control in the wake of all of their injuries.

They have thrown the ball below expectations in each of the past two games, with dropback rates of 44.1% and 49.1%.

Stafford has averaged 5.4 air yards per attempt over the past four games, down from 9.0 air yards per attempt in the opening four games.

That has made Stafford more efficient, with a 74.5% completion rate compared to 61.1% before, but it has also lowered his yards per pass attempt to 6.8.

Stafford has not thrown for 7.0 yards per attempt in a game since Week 5.

This is a good matchup for Stafford to remain efficient, but the Rams are still in an implied game environment to play ball control.

Stafford is more of a high-end QB2 and fringe QB1 who has to run hot in the touchdown department to boost his fantasy line.

Washington is allowing a 66.3% completion rate (26th) for 7.2 Y/A (17th) with a 5.9% touchdown rate (26th).

Washington is matching multiple tight ends with base defense 76% of the time.

When Stafford has gotten base defense with multiple tight ends on the field, he has completed 69.4% of his passes for 7.9 Y/A with 7 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Jayden Daniels

Daniels is coming off a QB15 (15 points) scoring week, completing 16 of 29 passes (55.2%) for 217 yards (7.5 Y/A) with a touchdown.

He added 23 rushing yards.

Daniels has the rushing ability to remain as a QB1 option, but he's more towards the back end this week.

The Rams allowed 107 scramble yards to Josh Allen in Week 5, which is a path to upside for Daniels.

The Rams are a tough draw for passers, allowing 11.9 passing points per game (7th) with a 59.9% completion rate (5th), 6.2 Y/A (3rd), and a 3.9% touchdown rate (11th).

The Rams play two-high coverage at a 62.2% rate (5th) and rotate between Cover 4 and Cover 6 on those snaps at nearly a 50-50 rate.

Daniels has had his largest issues against two-high defenses this season, completing 61% of his passes (27th) for 5.8 Y/A (25th).

Against single-high looks, he has completed 66.7% of his passes (9th) for 7.9 Y/A (9th).

He has been at his best against man coverage, averaging 8.9 Y/A (3rd) with 3 touchdowns.

We will also see if the Rams get back Myles Garrett, who could return to practice this week.
