  • Carolina has gained 36 more first downs than allowed, the largest differential in the league.
  • Carolina is allowing a league-low 47.1 non-passing fantasy points per game.
  • Dallas is averaging 91.9 non-passing fantasy points per game, fourth in the NFL.
  • Carolina is allowing opponents to convert just 21.1% of their third downs, the lowest rate in the league. League average is 40.7%.
  • Dallas has converted 53.8% of their third downs, fourth in the league.
  • D.J. Moore leads the league with six receptions of 20 or more yards, but those receptions only make up 27.3% of his total receptions, the third-lowest rate of the top-10 players.

Quarterback

Dak Prescott: The carnival ride for Dallas games has been put on hold with their defense playing better and the team calling opponent-driven game plans to open the season. After a QB6 (27.4 points) scoring week to open the season. Prescott has been the QB28 (7.5 points) and QB13 (20.1 points) the past two weeks. After 58 pass attempts in Week 1 versus the Bucs, Dak has thrown 53 passes over the past two weeks.

While the volume has dropped, Prescott is playing some of his best football, completing 85.2% and 80.8% of his passes the past two weeks with 8.8 yards and 9.2 yards per pass attempt in those games. Prescott would have even scored more points last week if it was not for a QB sneak touchdown that was called short of the end zone despite Ray Charles seeing that the ball crossed the plane.

The Panthers have started the year off number one is just about every defensive metric. While we as a staff were hyping this defense being a surprise unit in 2021, they have started the season off against Zach Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Davis Mills. This week will give us a real barometer on how to handle things moving forward

It remains to be seen how Carolina takes things on here. The Panthers have done a bit of everything under Phil Snow this season. They are blitzing at the third-highest rate in the league (38.6%) and have pressured the quarterback on a league-high 47.5% of dropbacks. This will be the matchup that will tip us off on if they are a clear avoid the rest of the way out or not.

Vegas isn’t overly concerned as Dallas still has a team total just shy of 28 points, meaning we should still be lining up Prescott as a fantasy QB1.
