- The Rams have the most plays on offense of 15 or more yards (19) and 20 or more yards (12).
- The Eagles have the fewest plays of 15 or more yards on offense (5) and are tied for the fewest plays of 20 or more yards (3).
- The Rams have outscored opponents 30 to 6 in the second half of their opening games, the best margin in the league through two weeks.
- 9.2% of Philadelphia's plays have gained 10 or more yards, the lowest rate through two weeks.
- Philadelphia has three pass plays of 10 or more yards through two games. The next closet team has 11.
- The Eagles are the first team since 2010 to start the season 2-0 without a passing touchdown.
- The Eagles have converted 7.1% (1 of 14) third and longs (needing 7 or more yards) to open the year, the lowest rate in the league.
- The Rams have converted 44.4% (4 of 9) of those third and longs, the highest rate through two weeks.
- The Rams have the best defensive EPA through two weeks (21.34).
Trust = spike production for that player
Quarterback
Jalen Hurts: Sunday was an ugly outing for Hurts.
He ended the week as QB25 (11.5 points), completing 15 of 22 passes for 101 yards while rushing 9 times for 15 yards and a touchdown.
The Philadelphia passing game has been completely nonexistent through two weeks.
Hurts has never been a high-yardage passer, but he has been efficient on his opportunities.
He has averaged 6.6 and 4.6 yards per pass attempt through the first two weeks of the season.
This passing game has been uninspired, relying on an abundance of short static throws.
Hurts has thrown 24.4% of his passes at or behind the line of scrimmage.
That is 24th in the league and would be a career high if it remained the same all season.
He has only thrown 17.8% of his passes 10 or more yards downfield, the lowest rate in the NFL.
His previous career low in that department is 30.2%.
Hurts has thrown 3 total passes at the intermediate levels (10-19 yards downfield), the fewest in the league.
These are all rates well off his career rates, so this could be something we see sort itself out along the way.
But we also only have a two-game sample with Kevin Patullo calling the offense, so it’s 100% of that sample.
Until we see some added intermediate and downfield passing here, we are going to be pressing.
Hurts has also been pressured on 41.4% of his dropbacks, 29th in the league.
He typically invites his own pressure rate holding the ball, but so far, 78.9% of his pressures have been credited to the offensive line, per Pro Football Focus.
Hurts is averaging 4.0 yards per pass attempt when pressured.
The Rams are ninth in pressure rate (40%) and were able to get after Hurts in both matchups last season.
They pressured Hurts on 34.6% of his dropbacks in Week 12 and then 50% of the time in the playoff matchup.
Hurts took 7 sacks in that second meeting.
Hurts rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown in that playoff outing, and he rushed 12 times for 39 yards in the Week 12 matchup.
We always have that rushing ability to lean on with Hurts, but we need his passing production to improve.
The Rams have allowed 16.5 passing points through two games, second in the league.
They have faced C.J. Stroud and Cam Ward, but Hurts threw for only 128 yards and 6.4 Y/A in the last matchup between these teams.
I don’t want to overreact to these first two weeks and let this offense figure out some things on its own.
That said, Hurts only posted 15.1 and 18.1 fantasy points in this matchup a year ago, so we are not coming in with ceiling expectations, either.
I am dinging Hurts a bit towards the mid-to-back QB1 range, which could prove to be not enough.
Matthew Stafford: Stafford has had a strong start to the season after an injury scare to close the summer.
Sean McVay has been shifting his approach to fit the defensive meta, running an under-center passing game.
Stafford has been under center for 64.7% of his dropbacks, the highest rate in the league.
The league rate is 29.9%.
His previous career-high rate was 47.3% in 2019.
The Rams have a 71% motion rate and a 76.7% play-action rate when under center.
Using pre-snap motion, Stafford is 33 of 39 (84.6%) for 9.5 yards per attempt and 3 touchdowns.
Using play action, Stafford is 21 of 26 (80.8%) for 10.6 yards per attempt with 3 touchdowns.
Using both on the same snap, Stafford is 18 of 20 for 10.7 yards per attempt and 2 touchdowns.
Stafford is always hard to push as more than a QB2 for fantasy because he does not run, forcing him to run hot in the touchdown department.
The Rams love running the ball near the end zone, too.
That said, I would treat him as a higher-end QB2 with a solid floor.
Stafford outscored Hurts in both of these matchups a year ago, posting 19.2 and 19.5 fantasy points.
The Eagles have not been completely clean defensively to start the year, but they are third in passing points allowed.
