The trend of finding players to sit being easier than finding depth players to start continued in Week 3.
The recommended sits were all hits except Jake Ferguson, who had success at less than 100% in the middle of the field against the Ravens secondary.
Let’s look at the best starts and sits for Week 4 of the fantasy football season.
Week 4 Fantasy Football Starts:
Week 4 Starts | Position | Team |
---|---|---|

Mark Andrews | TE | Ravens |
Elijah Higgins | TE | Cardinals |
Week 4 Fantasy Football Sits:
Week 4 Sits | Position | Team |

Matthew Stafford | QB | Rams |
Zach Charbonnet | RB | Seahawks |
Kenneth Walker | RB | Seahawks |
Courtland Sutton | WR | Broncos |
Garrett Wilson | WR | Jets |
Hunter Henry | TE | Patriots |
Quarterback Lineup Advice, Fantasy Football
Start Caleb Williams in Week 4
Early indications are that fantasy gamers should target the Rams’ secondary similarly to that of the Commanders last year (and this year), making Williams a must start in Week 4.
Kyler Murray completed 5 of 6 (83.3%) attempts over 20 air yards against the Rams. He has completed 1 of 12 (8.3%) in his other starts.
The likely return of Keenan Allen provides an extra receiving option for the first-overall draft pick to improve upon his early season struggles.
In addition to improved passing success, Williams offers a bit of a rushing floor. He had five rushes in his first two games and is a threat to run in the red zone.
Sit Matthew Stafford in Week 4
The Chicago Bears have been difficult to pass against and provide some opportunity to run, making Stafford an easy sit in Week 4.
Stafford continues to be one of the more underrated quarterbacks from a real football view. He gave the Rams a chance to win against the Lions and beat the 49ers despite cluster injuries to his offensive line and receivers.
Still, it is hard to trust this offensive line and a receiver room led by Demarcus Robinson and Tutu Atwell against the Chicago Bears defense which is allowing 165 passing yards per game.
Running back Lineup Advice, Fantasy Football
Start Najee Harris in Week 4
Harris has yet to find the endzone or eclipse 14 PPR points in a game this season, but he should be started with more confidence in Week 4.
Harris is in line for a large workload against the Colts with Jaylen Warren dealing with a knee injury.
As mentioned in Rich Hribar’s Worksheet, Colts opponents are averaging 75.7 offensive plays per game.
Harris has handled at least 18 touches in every game this season, which will likely continue, and he should start to find the end zone.
Harris has scored at least 7 touchdowns in each of his first three seasons.
Sit Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet in Week 4
Charbonnet has scored 3 touchdowns and added 8 receptions in two spot starts with Walker inactive.
Regardless of Walker’s status this week, the Lions are kryptonite to running back fantasy scoring to start the year.
Detroit has a formidable run defense that has improved with the addition of D.J. Reader.
They are also very good at limiting running back receiving yards, allowing 5.7 receiving yards per game to opposing running backs.
I’m not starting either running back regardless of the injury news in Week 4.
Wide Receiver Lineup Advice, Fantasy Football
Start Jaxon Smith-Njigba in Week 4
The sophomore receiver has been “better in bestball” to start the season with two games of 3 or fewer targets sprinkled in with a 16-target game.
The Seahawks have three capable receivers, which makes Smith-Njigba frustrating in redraft.
However, Week 4 sets up as a game in which his usage should be higher, making him a fantasy start.
The Seahawks’ offensive line woes combined with the Lions’ strengths provide a matchup that favors the slot receiver.
Start Josh Downs in Week 4
With injuries mounting around the league, I’m more likely to start a good player like Josh Downs in Week 4 than a player whose role is elevated because of injuries like Jahan Dotson.
It’s a small sample size, but Downs has been targeted on 20.5% of his routes with Anthony Richardson in his career, but more impressive is the 66.7% completion percentage on those passes.
Richardson has completed 53.2% of passes on all other passes to date, elevating the connection with Downs.
The Steelers provide a difficult opponent, but success can be had in the middle of the field.
47.8% of wide receiver receptions against the Steelers have been caught by the slot receiver.
Sit Garrett Wilson in Week 4
Last week’s galaxy-brained sit candidate was Jameson Williams, who was held to a single catch and lost seven yards rushing.
This week is more bold. I would consider sitting first round fantasy wide receiver Garrett Wilson in Week 4.
The Broncos defense has been aggressive to start the season, leading in both blitzes and pressures.
That has limited passes to outside wide receivers.
Wilson will be guarded by Patrick Surtain, who is typically an elite shutdown corner.
This could be the week where Rodgers relies on his running backs and tight ends, and Wilson could struggle to put up significant yardage.
Sit Courtland Sutton in Week 4
Sutton was a positive from the start column last week as he commanded twelve targets, but Week 4 has him battling with weather and Sauce Gardner, making him a recommended sit in Week 4.
Last year, Sutton was limited to a single catch against the Jets, who remain difficult against outside receivers this season.
New York has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points through three weeks.
Tight End Lineup Advice, Fantasy Football
Start Mark Andrews in Week 4
As mentioned last week for D’Andre Swift, Andrews faces his now-or-never moment of 2024, so I am believing in him as a recommended start in Week 4.
Andrews traveled to Dallas with the Ravens but did not contribute on the stat sheet, failing to record a catch on only 6 routes.
Conspiracy theories of what is hindering Andrews are starting to ramp up, and this will be a telling week.
The Bills’ weakness is in the middle of the field with the absence of Matt Milano, Terrel Bernard, and Taron Johnson.
Start Elijah Higgins in Week 4
A starting opportunity, high game total, and struggling defense provide an opportunity for Higgins as a spot start in Week 4.
Trey McBride will likely miss a game as a result of a concussion.
Higgins is a former college receiver who should be the next man up should McBride miss time.
The Cardinals are favorites in a game with a total over 50, which makes Higgins startable in the current tight end fantasy landscape.
Sit Hunter Henry in Week 4
Looking at a difficult matchup, Henry is a sit in Week 4.
Henry let down fantasy gamers last week, following up an 8-reception, 109-yard game with 2 receptions and 9 yards.
The Patriots offense will be consistently inconsistent this year, and the 49ers with Fred Warner provide a difficult tight end matchup.
They rank fifth in DVOA against tight ends while allowing 21.3 yards per game to the position.
On a short week, Henry conceded snaps to Austin Hooper, providing another reason to sit and hold Henry this week.
